Is God Well Pleased with Me?

Scripture: Matthew 3:[17] And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Observation: I know God loves me and that I’m his child, but is he well pleased. There is no reason he should be. I don’t give him enough time or bear much fruit in his name or trust in him totally the way I should. So when I see him what will he say about me? This is my child with him, I put up with, saddened, disappointed, or just look at me and turn his head.

Application: This life is not over yet as long as He continues to give me more days I can still try to please him. I need to stop living for myself however and live as Jesus did for our heavenly Father. Living a life that will glorify God so when the time comes I will know that he is well pleased with me.

Prayer: Dear Father help me be the child you called me to be. Take this laziness away and guide me down the path that will honor you. I do love you even though at times I don’t show it draw me nearer and speak to me.

We Should Go and Worship Him

Scripture: Matthew 2: [8] He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

Observation: Most of my life I was searching for something, something that would give me peace and make sense of my life. I didn’t realize until years later I should have been searching for Jesus, the author of this life and when I found him I was to worship him, not for what he has done for me, but because of who he is.

Application: Now that I have found the savior I should be spending most of my days worshiping him in the things that I do and the way that I act. He should get all the glory and honor in my life and my full attention and obedience. I started this life lost, but now that I found my Lord there is no excuse not to live this life holy and pleasing to him.

Prayer: Dear Lord I have found you and have no excuse to live a life pleasing to you. Guide me each day to be this man you desire me to be, fulfilling the purpose you created me for.

Joseph a Righteous Man

Scripture: Mathew 1: [19] Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

Observation: I should be a righteous man looking out for the well being of others instead of so focused on my own desires. That is what God has called me to be a righteous man and to serve him by serving others. God has been so righteous with me why is it so hard to be the man he calls me to be?

Application: I need to put God first in all I do. To strive to be that righteous man God calls me to be to be focused on others more than myself. I don’t have to worry about taking care of me because God has been doing that and I know if I do his will he will continue to look out after me.

Prayer: Dear Lord show me the way to be righteous in your eyes. To be a man that cares for the needs of others above my own as you call me to be. Give me the heart and fill me with the Holy Spirit.

What Will My Reward Be?

Scripture: Revelation 22:12 “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give everyone according to what he has done.

Observation: I wonder what my reward will be, I know I don’t deserve anything. What have I done that deserves anything good or what can I still do that would justify a reward. The only thing I can do is to obey God and use this life to glorify Him. This will not make me worthy of a reward, but I pray that it honors God

Application: Get busy the time is getting short. Do the most good I can possibly do and do it glorifying God. Yesterday I should have been helping the church bless the homeless in the area and because of my laziness I passed on the opportunity. I need to search for opportunity to bless others in God’s name.

Prayer: Dear Father guide this servant in doing what is right and of you. May my focus not be on getting a reward but pleasing you. May I finish the race well.

He Will Wipe Away Every Tear

Scripture: Revelation 21: [4] He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Observation: Wow! No more death, mourning, crying or pain that seems what this world is made up of for the most part. I can’t imagine a place without depression and anxiety, but that’s where I’m heading. Not because I deserve it, but because God loves me.

Application: I need to share my faith of Jesus so others may be able to come with me to meet my Father and live in the place He has created for us. I need to seek his guidance on how to live this life to honor him so when I come home he will welcome me with open arms.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for making such a wonderful place and allowing me to spend eternity with you there. Show me each day how you would like me to live this life glorifying you and put in my path the ones you desire me to lead to you.

How Am I To Be Judged?

Scripture: Revelation 20: [12] And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

Observation: My time is coming when I will stand before the Great White Throne. I know my Lord saved me from the pit of Hell, but what will God say of me? What things did I do to honor him and what things did I do that disappointed him? My life isn’t over yet I have been given opportunities to please God.

Application: Look for ways to please God by serving the people around me. Look for opportunities to share the gospel so when they stand before the Great Throne they will know where they are going

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for your great love and I ask you to show me how to please you. To bear fruit so abundant that when it’s time I can lay that fruit as a sacrifice to you at the altar.

Wearing Fine Linen

Scripture: Revelation 19: 8 Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.”
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)

Observation: Every day I should plan on making fine linen, doing righteous acts. That is why God has created me to be guided by the Holy Spirit and do what is right. To make a difference in this world.

Application: I need to plan to do things that are right and make an effort to live this life to honor God. I want to be a linen factory of righteous acts so others can see the working of the Holy Spirit in my life and to fulfill the purpose God has created me for.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me perform the deeds you call me to do. Take away this selfish desire of mine to serve myself and get busy serving you.
