Some Things Are From God

Scripture 2 Chron 11:4 Thus says the LORD: “You shall not go up or fight against your brethren! Let every man return to his house, for this thing is from Me.” ‘ ” Therefore they obeyed the words of the LORD, and turned back from attacking Jeroboam.

Observation: Sometimes we find ourselves in situations we don’t like and think it’s from the enemy or just bad luck. God tells us He will refine us like gold and that we will have trials and tribulations. God will test us and how we pass these tests will determine or place in Heaven. This world is our testing ground and when situations arise we need to pray to see how God wants us to handle them. There is no situation that God can’t get us out of, but we need to trust and ask His will for our life.

Application: I need to accept each and every situation and pray through them. If it’s God’s will then I need to ask for guidance and what He desires of me and if it’s from the devil then I need to ask for help to overcome the situation I’m in. Either way the answer rests with God and if I trust and listen to Him I will always be fine and on the right path.

Prayer: My Lord please open my eyes to what you want me to do and what you desire me to learn in every situation I find myself in. Please guide me through this life that I will finish well and have the place in Heaven where you want me to be. I’m your child always show me how to be a better one today.

Asking the Advice of Elders

Scripture 2 Chron 10:6 Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who stood before his father Solomon while he still lived, saying, “How do you advise me to answer these people?”

Observation: The older generation has been thrown to the side in our society, yet they are the ones who have seen much more than most and have made more mistakes and hopeful have learned from those mistakes. Most of us don’t think of this as a great resource in guiding our lives. God has given His word and has blessed us with people that surround us. We should be asking for their advice, weighing that advice to God’s word, but using it to help guide us from making bad decisions. Reach out to these wonderful people you and they both will be blessed.

Application: I always try to figure things out on my own without asking any advice and most of the time it is a bad decision. I need to seek out the people that might have the wisdom to guide me on a path of success, making sure they share the same faith. I need to spend more time with older people especially those in nursing homes and that are alone.

Prayer: My Lord no matter how old we are we are still your children and they are my brothers and sisters. Give me a heart for your children and show me what I can do to learn from them and to help them using the gifts you have given me. May I be of service to You as always.

God Puts It There

Scripture 2 Chron 9:23 And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

Observation: Do you ever wonder how you can do the things you do for example, maybe you’re a singer, an athlete, do a particular job well, can figure things our easily or other talents and gifts you might take for granted. God put those in you to be used for His glory. The Bible says He knitted us together while in our mother’s womb, putting us together, not only physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. Whatever we can do we can only do it because God desires us to do it. We shouldn’t take it for granted and we should use it for God’s glory each day.

Application: There are things in my life I seem to be able to do effortlessly and almost always with success. Cooking is a gift I have I can figure out how to make certain food items and God has gifted me with the ability to organize catered events with ease. These are things I use for my Lord’s glory and I need to do more. This Saturday my wife and I will be doing the food for a memorial service for one of the ladies in our church, then in a couple of more weeks we will be doing hot dogs at the beach and in a month from now a breakfast for a military marriage outreach at the church. All these things need to bring God glory and not me and I need to do more.

Prayer: My Lord I thank you for all you have put within me. May it always be used for your glory. Open doors for other things to be used such as my testimony you have blessed me with or other events that these gifts can serve others and please you. I love you Lord, use me until I come home.

Obeying A Man Of God

Scripture 2 Chron 8:14 And, according to the order of David his father, he appointed the divisions of the priests for their service, the Levites for their duties (to praise and serve before the priests) as the duty of each day required, and the gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate; for so David the man of God had commanded.

Observation: I believe God has anointed many people to be His spokesperson and leader on this earth. I believe my pastor, Pastor Mike is one of those men, a man of God. So when he asks me if I would do something I jump at the opportunity to do it, because it honors God. God has spoken to me in the past and He always uses other people to talk to me and give me direction. I pray to be used as a man of God for His Kingdom to speak to others what He desires them to hear, but I must draw near to my Lord so that I may hear His commands.

Application: Be more aware of the people I’m surrounded with and get to know them better. Listen to what they say to see if it lines up with scripture and my gifts. Be a man of God myself so that I may be used by my Lord and Savior when He desires to use me. Keep in His word, pray and be obedient to what He calls me to do.

Prayer: My Lord I desperately desire to know what your will is for my life. Speak to your servant through my brothers and sisters you place in my path and give me an open hear and heart to hear what you might be saying to me and use me to speak to others drawing closer to you.

God Hears from Heaven

Scripture 2 Chron 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Observation: We think of this verse often when it comes to how are nation is. When you look around you it is obvious those things will not happen. To call the name of the Lord is almost illegal in this country anymore, people don’t humble themselves, we took prayer out of school and most public places, hardly anyone seeks God, at least God the father it seems so many people have all kinds of Gods, people don’t turn from their wicked ways because they don’t think they are wicked. Without being obedient to the first part of this verse we can never receive the blessing of God as He desires to give them.

Application: I can’t give up making this nation a little better. I have hardly any power to change anything, but if I’m obedient to my Lord I can make a difference in someone’s life. This nation may never come around, but I need to be doing what God calls me to do and pray that a revival will come throughout the land and people would repent and seek His face.

Prayer: My Lord I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Please strengthen me Lord and give me the wisdom I will need to do my part in your plan for me. May your people’s eyes be open along with their heart to humble themselves and seek your face and turn from their wicked ways.

No God Like You

Scripture 2 Chron 6:14 and he said: “LORD God of Israel, there is no God in heaven or on earth like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.

Observation: When I first read this of course there is no God like God, because there are no others gods. But that’s not true because we make up gods and worship things as god that are not. We set possessions, career, other people and other things above God at times, forgetting about God and all that He is and has done. There is no other god or anything that can compare to our loving Heavenly Father. We need to walk with servant hearts each day focused on our Master to live a righteous life a life that honors God, but will also fill our heart with joy.

Application: Keep in mind who God is and that I’m allowed to talk with Him and have a relationship with my Lord. Keep in mind who He is and who I am. He is the Lord of all things and I’m a lowly servant that my Master loves. I need to work on my pride and the way my mind wanders all of the time and stay focused on my mission here and on my Lord.

Prayer: Dear Lord there is nothing like you and there is nothing that deserves my love, obedience and worship as you do. Everything else is trash compared to you, may I live a life with the focus on you and the purpose you desire of me. I love you and want to give you my best help me stay on the path.

Dedications to God

Scripture 2 Chron 5:1 So all the work that Solomon had done for the house of the LORD was finished; and Solomon brought in the things which his father David had dedicated: the silver and the gold and all the furnishings. And he put them in the treasuries of the house of God.

Observation: What do we have to bring to the house of God? What do we dedicate to God, most of us don’t have gold or silver to present to our Lord, but we have something more precious than that, we have ourselves. We have the time God has blessed us with, our gifts and talents and most importantly our love. That is what God wants more than anything our love and obedience and one goes along with the other. That is what we are to bring into the house of our God and dedicate our lives to Him. To serve with a joyful heart, serving others in His name and showing others His love through us.

Application: I need to dedicate my life, not just an hour here or there, but my entire life. Whenever I do anything it must be done with God in mine and bringing each moment before God and dedicating that to Him. When I bring my dedications to His house I will see them when I get to Heaven and I want Him to show me a large room filled with my dedications to Him, I don’t want it to be a small closet with a couple of dedications, but something that will honor my Lord and Master.

Prayer: My Lord I dedicate this life to you, but I need your help letting go of it. I am yours and I will never be worthy, but may a day not pass by that I come a little closer in glorifying you. I love you and you deserve the best that I have, I dedicate that to you.
