Scripture: Luke 11:28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Observation: The key is to obey and I know what He wants of me because his word is clear. He wants me to be like his Son, loving, giving, caring and teaching others of his Father. I have a commission and purpose to my life and to accomplish them I must be obedient to God’s word.

Application: I need to start each day speaking to my Father, asking for direction and guidance from the Holy Spirit. I need to set my mind on God’s directives and get the discipline from God to carry them out. I can’t do this in the flesh, it will take the Holy Spirit to carry them out in God’s power.

Prayer: dear God guide this servant and open my eyes to your desires. Show me how to be obedient to your word each day and to please you in thought, word and action.

Scripture: Luke 10:27 He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and lover your neighbor as yourself.”

Observation: Why is it so hard for me to love God the way I should? God has given me everything and is always with me, guiding me. He deserves all of my love, praise and obedience. Yet I give him so little. My interest and desires overshadow my love for God and others. I still want to do what I want and when. I have coma a long way since I’ve been saved, but still have not followed the most important commandment.

Application: God must come first. His desires should rule my life. My love should be so intense that my focus every moment should be in honoring God. Each decision, word and action should be considered to see if it honors God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, open my soul and mind to love you completely. Give me the strength to do the things that honor you. May my love for you and others please and bring joy to you.
