May God Speak Through Me

Scripture: Matthew 10: [20] for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Observation: I worry about what to say at times. I try to come up with this great speech to impress others or worry about praying with others. It is not my job to determine what to say my job is to have faith enough to approach a situation with confidence that God will use me.

Application: To trust in my God who is so trustworthy. To be bold knowing God is with me and has a plan for my life. To make fulfilling that plan my number one purpose in my life and allowing God to work that plan out.

Prayer: Dear Lord increase my faith. Show me how to be bold and trusting so I may fulfill the purpose you have created me for. You are worthy of my best, help me give that to you.

Harvesting the Crop

Scripture: Matthew 9:[38] Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Observation: God is asking , no telling me I should be harvesting the people so others may know the love of God and not perish. He had people harvest me so that I may enjoy the gift of salvation and have my mind renewed so I would understand his love for me and now it is my turn.

Application: Ask God what he wants me to do. Look for opportunities to touch others with the gospel and do my part as a harvester. Make it my top priority to be a harvester and not something I do out of convenience. Remember where people are going if I don’t do my job and how I will hurt the heart of God by not caring.

Prayer: My Lord there is nothing I can do apart from you so please fill me with your power and show me how to bring others to you. Show me how to be bold and proclaiming the gospel to others and may I touch the hearts of those that don’t know you.

As We Believe

Scripture: Matthew 8: 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.

Observation: My believe is so weak because my faith is weak. Every day I worry about things that I trusted God for. If I would have just believed when I asked my Lord for them knowing he loves me and wants the best for me. He tells me it will be done just as I believed it would be, yet I can’t seem to believe and trust.

Application: I need to let go of my lack of faith. I want to trust and it’s time I let go and let God run my life, it’s his anyway. I need to stop worrying and begin to trust my creator.

Prayer: Dear Lord please increase my faith. You are trustworthy and true and there is no reason for me to just let go of my ambitions and trust them all to you. May I live my life as a model to others of your faithfulness.

Noticing the Faults of Others

Scripture: Matthew 7: 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

Observation: It’s so easy to find the faults in others. Sometimes it makes me feel better to belittle someone else instead of dealing with my own problems. God tells me to love and not to judge others and yet I still look at others through my eyes and not God’s.

Application: If I can’t look at others without criticizing and judging I need to first look at me and ask what do others see in me. I know my imperfections and there are many and I have no reason to judge others. If I look for the good in others just maybe I will be able to see the good in me.

Prayer: Dear Lord forgive me for the way I judge and treat your children. Give me the eyes to see what you see and humble this servant of yours so I may become this man you desire me to be.

Each Day Has Enough Troubles

Scripture: Matthew 6: [34] Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Observation: I worry about tomorrow and the next day and the next without even thinking what is happening in the present. I consume myself so much about tomorrow I can’t enjoy the day the Lord has made. Currently I’m consumed about buying a mobile home since we are going to lose our current home and not trusting God to provide.

Application: All I need is to trust God and listen to him. I don’t even know if there will be a tomorrow and I spend more time there then I do in the present most of the time. It all comes down to trusting God, he has provided for me my whole life and I’m closer to him now than I ever have been.

Prayer: Dear Father increase my faith that I will trust in you with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding but in all my ways acknowledge you and let you make my paths straight. Show me how to live a life that will glorify you.

Let Your Light Shine

Scripture: Matthew 5: [16] In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Observation: I need to let others see my good deeds, but not as if I was responsible for them. If I do things under my power (which I can’t) people would praise me and not God. My light is the power that comes from God and my desire to share that love with others in the Father’s name.

Application: So whatever good I do, God deserves the credit and others need to see that. I should be sharing what God has done in my life, what God desires to do in theirs and point others to Jesus as Lord and savior, that is my light. I need to get off my lazy butt and start doing more good deeds in glory and honor God.

Prayer: Dear Father you deserve all my love, praise, worship and obedience. May I live today showing someone my light that comes from you.

Worship & Serve God Alone

Scripture: Matthew 4:10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: `Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ ”

Observation: Whenever I give in to a temptation, whenever I disobey God or whenever I hurt another person I’m serving Satan. I have one God, one Lord and one master my God and I’m called to live a life in obedience to him only.

Application: Everything I do is either obeying God or sinning. Each action has a consequence. I need to put forth more thought in what I’m doing and why. Am I honoring God or not should always be the question I ask before doing anything. To live a life in obedience to my heavenly Father should always be what I’m striving for.

Prayer: Dear Father I’m here to serve and worship you only. Help me through each day and tell me what you want me to do. At the end of each day may I have brought a smile to your face and have demonstrated my love for you.
