Who Do I Say He Is?

Scripture: Luke 8:20 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

Observation: Who do I say Jesus is? At times my speech and actions proclaim him as Lord, as it should be. Then at other times I feel like Peter denying I know him. The way I live this life, my actions, thoughts and words tell others who Jesus is in my life. If I believe in my heart that Jesus is Lord and proclaim him with my lips I will be saved.

Application: Now I need to proclaim Jesus as Lord and savior each day. My actions, thoughts and words need to be put into action to tell others of his unfailing love for us. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. My purpose is to tell others and to have them draw nearer to God.

Prayer: Dear Lord you are the son of God, the Christ and my Savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and give me the strength to proclaim this to the world.

Tell How Much God Has Done

Scripture: Luke 8:39 Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.

Observation: Jesus has done no less for me, healing me of the demon of depression that I couldn’t free myself of. So how many people have I told what God did for me? This man probably couldn’t be still until he told everyone he saw about Jesus. Yet I bring it up when it’s safe and tell my story to other Christians and occasionally share with others, but I don’t have that gratitude that would cause me to shout my story to the world.

Application: It’s time to tell everyone what God has done for me. That I would proudly and boldly proclaim what Jesus as done for me and to proclaim he can do it for them.

Prayer: Dear Lord put on my heart the things of you. Show me how to proclaim boldly all that you have done and your love for us.

His Heart Went Out to Me

Scripture: Luke 7:13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”

Observation: Whenever I read about Christ’s compassion I think of how he had compassion for me. I deserved death, was suffering and wanted to die, but he had compassion on me. He guided me to him and showed me the way, staying by my side. He comforted me and said don’t cry. Today he is with me always leading me through this life, showing me how to comfort others and showing me to have his heart.

Application: To have a heart for the hurting. To follow the path God has shown me and to use the testimony of his love in my life, to comfort others. To use the gifts God has given me of counseling, loving and giving to fulfill the purpose he has for my life.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for not giving up on me. That your heart went out to me. Use me now and the rest of this life you have given me to reach those you place in my path.

Do to Others

Scripture: Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them to do you.

Observation: That is the way I try to live my life at home and at work. I try to explain to my fellow workers that is the way we need to treat each other, as we want to be treated. I don’t know why this is so hard to do at times. We each feel we are suppose to receive some special treatment, more than anyone else. Yet Jesus told us to love each other as we love ourselves.

Application: To continue to look at others as Jesus does, with love and compassion. Not to judge or put down others, but to receive them the same way I want to be received. To continue to tell others to treat others as they want to be treated.

Prayer: Dear Lord give me your eyes. That I may see others as you see them with love. May I not see what I assume as faults but the person you created.

Make Me Clean

Scripture: Luke 5:12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, ”Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

Observation: My thoughts and health are not very good lately. My blood sugar is high, I’m losing my hearing and have this humming in my ear and I’ve been so tired. I need a healing of mind and body to continue. I need Jesus to touch my life and heal and direct me on what to do at times. I feel so lost and afraid. I still wish my Lord would just take me home so I wouldn’t have to deal with this life.

Application: Grow closer to God and focus on completing the task he set before me. Draw strength from him and beg him for a healing and a desire to live for him. Complete the task he set before me, and then have faith that he will do it.

Prayer: Dear Lord if you are willing you can heal this servant. Heal my hearing, calm my spirit and guide me through each day that I will glorify you.

Worship the Lord Your God

Scripture: Luke 4:8 Jesus answered, “It is written: Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.”

Observation: Whenever I sin or serve myself, I’m not serving God. He is the only one worthy of my worship. I use this scripture when my mind wonders and I start to think evil thoughts, because they are of the devil or my own sinfulness. I’ll say away from me Satan for it is written worship the Lord your God and serve him only.

Application: Continue to realize when my mind is focused on evil, I’m not worshiping God. I’m serving myself and the devil. Stay focused on God and continue to ask for his guidance and walk on the path he chooses for me.

Prayer: Dear Lord you only are worthy of my love, praise and worship. Keep my mind clear and focused on you each day. For you alone are worthy.

The Ax is At the Tree

Scripture: Luke 3:9 The ax is already at the root of the tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

Observation: It is not enough to say you received Christ and never produce good fruit or changed. If there is no change in your life you didn’t receive him into your heart, you only said the words. In the Word, Jesus says go away for I never knew you. When I received Christ into my life he changed me. I couldn’t swear any more, he gave me a giving heart and allowed me to see others through his eyes. I still have a choice to use these new insights and gifts or not.

Application: God has blessed me so much I want to honor him and give back. I need to make a stronger effort to honor him by producing good fruit.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for your love and changing me, giving me a heart for you. Please continue to work in me to fulfill the purpose you have given me.
