Authority Is from God

Scripture: Romans 13: 1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Observation: It’s hard to believe at times that the governing authority could have anything to do with God. God doesn’t only allow good things to happen but allows bad things to strengthen us. If we are obedient to His word and do what is right it honors God and that is all that really matters.

Application: Stop complaining about the way things are and pray and trust God with everything. Support what is right in our leadership and help put the right people in power of positions to make a difference.

Prayer: Dear Lord guide our leaders may they lead in biblical principles and be guided by your love and authority.

Do Not Conform

Scripture: Romans 12: [2] Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Observation: I’m always trying to conform to this world, or get someone else’s approval above God’s. I forget I don’t belong here and was created to live elsewhere, my home with God. I will never find God’s will if I keep looking away from Him.

Application: Be obedient to God and put His desires above mine. Search out the things He wants of me and strive to discover His will for my life. Live my life for Him and not me and my comfort and desires. Be the man God wants and no one else.

Prayer: Dear Lord I’m yours, use me as you desire. Help me focus on the things of you and not this world. Please give me the courage and wisdom to live this life for you.

Why Do I Try to Figure Him Out?

Scripture: Romans 11: 34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”

Observation: I don’t know why I try to figure things out for myself when it comes to God. I think, why would God do that or that doesn’t make sense to me. That is where faith comes in and obedience to do His will. If I understood everything my mind would explode and I would no longer walk in faith but my own knowledge.

Application: Know that God is always with me and if I ask for wisdom He will give it to me and guide me a day at a time. Stop trying to figure things out and worry about future events and trust in God that He will handle each situation as it comes if I let Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord increase my faith, that I may fully trust You in all things. Help me give everything to you and fulfill the purpose you have created me for. Give me peace and a calm spirit.

Why Did He Reveal Himself

Scripture: Romans 10:20 And Isaiah boldly says,

“I was found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”

Observation: This scripture hit my heart, because I never sought God most of my life. When I needed Him He was always there and when I had nowhere else to go He opened His arms to me. He revealed himself to me and showed me His love when I felt no one cared.

Application: I want to spend the rest of my life seeking what He desires of me and pleasing Him. I can’t repay my Lord but I can please Him with this life He has given me.

Prayer: Lord I seek you now and what to know how I can be this man you call me to be. Help me each day and guide me through this journey you have set ahead of me and may I be pleasing to you.

God’s My Potter

Scripture: Romans 9: [21] Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?

Observation: God has created me in a specific way and I know He has a plan for me. I want to be recognized by others and do big things for God, but maybe that’s not what He wants. He may want me to only reach one more person or do one small thing, I won’t know until I listen and obey.

Application: I need to focus on what God wants and is saying to me without interrupting. Stop wanting to be recognized as this holy person and humble myself that all others see is Jesus working in my life without saying a word.

Prayer: Dear Father help me become the creation you desire of me and guide me this day. Take this sinful man away and open my eyes to be the man you are creating.

Called to God’s Purpose

Scripture: Romans 8: 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Observation: It’s hard to believe at times that I was called for God’s purpose. I never felt I was worth anything, let alone to be used by God. It is wonderful to see now how God is using me and I pray that He continues until it is time to go home.

Application: Always look to see how God is using me each day and no matter what know that God will work the good in each situation. See how God wants to use me each day and fulfill the purpose that He has created me for.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father open my eyes to what you desire of me and may I always be obedient to you. May I finish the race well and that you will be pleased.

Who’s Slave am I?

Scripture: Romans 6: [16] Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey–whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

Observation: I want to be Jesus bond servant, a slave to my Lord, but so many of the times I become a slave to my thoughts. I worry so much anymore that at times I want to give up and just go home. I become a slave to sin and I know it must please Satan to see at times that he is winning. There is no reason for my negative thoughts and actions God is with me always and He has protected me every day and has answered my prayers.

Application: I need to be a slave to God and as a slave obey my master. He tells me not to fear, not to worry, to trust in Him and that the battle is His and He will always be with me. I need to stop and listen to the voice of my Master and embrace Him each day.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me obey You and that I may hear your voice when you speak to me. I freely give you this life as a living sacrifice, may it glorify you.
