All I Do Is Worry

Scripture: Luke 12:22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.

Observation: All in this chapter Jesus tells us not to worry.. Worry is the opposite of faith and trust, which Jesus tells us we must do. It doesn’t take me long to start thinking of things that worry me, finances, health, work and so many things I have no control over. Satan must use this weapon against us so we have little time left to do God’s will.

Application: I need to realize that God is in control and to always seek His guidance in my life. There is a big difference from planning and worrying and I need to trust God so much more. This life isn’t mine but God’s and He is in control I need to lay down this life in worship to Him and allow Him to take over.

Prayer: My Lord I freely give you this life as a living sacrifice, may it be Holy and pleasing to you. Please take charge over your servant and give me peace and take this anxiety form me.

May I Be Blessed

Scripture: Luke 11:28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Observation: God’s word says to hear and obey, then you may be blessed. I read the word each day without fail and continue to have a better understanding. I have a hard time hearing, because I don’t listen, but when I do I try obey? However there are times that I hear but if it’s not convenient for me a pretend I didn’t hear anything. God’s blessings are reserved for those who obey all of the time.

Application: I need to be obedient in all things at all times. I know that I waste my time and that’s not of God’s will. He has a reason and a purpose for my life and it’s not to be wasted. I have a command to bear fruit, to tell others the gospel, to bring them to the promise of God, to serve and other duties that are summed up in His word.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me receive the blessings you desire to give me. Help me be obedient to all you say and that I will be pleasing in your sight. That these talents you entrusted me with will multiply and be a blessing back to You.

Am I a Harvester?

Scripture: Luke 10: [2] He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

Observation: Jesus has given us the great commission, truly our only job is to spread the gospel and bring others to Christ and eternal life. We each will do it in different ways, that is why God has given us specific gifts and talents and has placed us each in different circumstances with different testimonies. Am I harvesting or just watching others do all the work?

Application: God has given me direction and I have a choice whether to ignore it or be obedient. I just got finished watching television again and fortunately I got up to write in this journal, but what could I have been doing as a harvester of God? There are so many lost and as I watch the news we continually take God out of our country and our lives. Somebody needs to remind them of God’s love for them and that what He calls us all to do.

Prayer: Dear Lord speak to me and show me how to harvest others and bring them into the fold of your love. Use me and direct me to the harvest field that I may reap a harvest pleasing to you.

Daily Take Up the Cross

Scripture: Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Observation: I’ve noticed in the Bible the word daily, that God provides daily for our needs and daily we must walk with Him. Even the Manna was given daily except for the Sabbath were a double portion was provided the day before. Each day is new even though we pit each day into a routine. We are to be alert and look for ways to serve God each day and take out blinders off. God will provide the way and supply what we need if we walk with Him every day.

Application: I need to get out of my routine and open my eyes each day to what the Lord has in store for me. If God allows me to do something in His name, I don’t take the next day off but look for new opportunities to serve Him. God has in store for me new blessings each day, but I must go get them and I don’t want to miss any more.

Prayer: My Lord I’m writing this at the beginning of a new day you have blessed me with. May I not waste it. Help keep my eyes open to what you have in store for me and may I not rest until I see your presence in my life.

Am I Telling Others?

Scripture: Luke 8 [39] “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.:

Observation: If anyone has something to talk about it’s me. Jesus has done so much for me and has done miracles in my life, but how many am I telling? It’s easy to share my testimony with my Christian brothers and sisters, but they are not the ones that are lost. I wrote the book God has directed me to write and will shortly do the class He calls me to do, but what of those outside the church. The ones that need to know about the only true miracle worker, Jesus.

Application: I wear my Christian T-Shirts almost each day, but does anybody see the Christian who wears them or just another guy wearing a shirt with writing? God has blessed me with a special testimony to share so the gospel may be preached through me and it’s time I take each opportunity to share it with others. I need to find opportunities to tell others outside the church about the love of my Lord and how He doesn’t give up on us and we are the ones that will have to reject Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for everything that has happened in my life whether it was good or bad, because it drew me to you. Use this servant to glorify you and use this testimony to open the eyes and heart of the people you surround me with.

I Desire Great Faith

Scripture: Luke 7:9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.”

Observation: I can’t make it through a day without worrying about something. Jesus must saying He has never seen anyone with so little faith. It’s amazing the miracles He has done in my life and all the messes He has gotten me out of, so why don’t I trust Him? Where is my faith?

Application: I need to treasure in my heart, like Mary did, all the things the Lord has already done in my life and put my trust in Him. I need to stop worrying and start trusting that God’s will, will be done in my life if I just listen and trust in Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord please increase my faith and draw me near to you. Open up my heart and draw me close and help me be this man of faith your desire me to be.

How Do I Measure Up?

Scripture: Luke 6: [38] Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Observation: What is my measurement for giving to others whether money or time. I have my moments but they are few and far between and it is at a moment when I want to be generous. So I shouldn’t expect much back because of the measure I give, but if I gave with the measure of what God has given me I would never be able to give enough.

Application: Remember when I’m giving to others I’m also being obedient to God. It should be automatic to give with no limits because of what I’ve already been given. People need to see my generosity so that I can point them to my Lord who gives everything simply by asking in His name.

Prayer: Dear Lord give me a generous heart and open doors that the measurement I use will be pleasing to you. All that I give comes from you anyway, may I be a good steward of your generosity.
