God’s Spirit

Scripture: 2 Timothy 1: [7] For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

Observation: If God didn’t give me a spirit of timidity, where did I get it from? When I’m afraid I don’t do much and I’m so focused on the fear I don’t see anything else. Sounds like something the enemy would give me or something I might give myself. My power does come from God and when I’m doing His desires I know I don’t have to fear. My love also comes from God because without Him I’m not a loving person and as far as self-discipline it’s more like God discipline I can only persevere if I know God is with me.

Application: I need to stay in the spirit of God and not stray from that path. There is nothing to fear as long as He is by my side, which He always is. If I focus on my Lord and obey His commands, then I’m in His spirit. God has wonderful plans for my life and I know the road will get rocky, but staying close to Him and His word I can accomplish anything.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me stay in your spirit and not drift on my own or allow Satan to have a hand in my life. May I always realize the spirit You have given me and to live only in that spirit.
