Does the Lord Reign?

Scripture Psalms 93:1 The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The LORD is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength. Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.

Observation: The Lord reigns and controls the earth, but does he reign in your life. God has given us a choice to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior or to reject Him. If God does not reign in our life, we have no life. God will not be an assistant manager, he must have complete control to reign and if we hold back we are telling Him we don’t want Him to reign in our lives. God created us and knows exactly what we need and what we need to be doing and we need to bow down to His Lordship and allow Him to control every aspect of our life.

Application: Each day my life is full of anxiety, because I don’t allow God to reign. I need to give up control and lay it all down before His throne. I have a purpose in this life that only God knows for sure and until I let Him take control, I will never realize it.

Prayer: My Lord please reign in my life and take control. Make me the man you desire me to be and guide me each day of my life. Show me how to fulfill the purpose You created me for and that I will bring you joy by the way I obey You. I love you and freely give you this life to lead.

Still Producing Fruit

Scripture Psalms 92:14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,

Observation: There is no retirement from doing God’s work. We are called to produce fruit until it is time to go home, for then is the time of rest. We think of retirement as the time of life when we can rest from our work and relax and enjoy the rest of our life, but God has not called us to stop working. I believe this time will be full of joy if I work harder for my Lord. I will have more time to devote to Him and His work and that work will produce fruit and bring meaning to my life.

Application: I should always be producing fruit no matter how hectic my days might become I need to always set time to do the work God has called me to do. My retirement plans need to include doing mission trips, teaching or helping others. It should not be filled with things that only benefit me. My retirement will be my opportunity to honor God with the gifts he has given me and a chance to earn rewards that will last forever.

Prayer: My Lord my thoughts are full of things that I plan for me, change me oh Lord and fill them with the plans you have for me. May my focus always be on what you desire and how I might please you. For I love you my King and want to produce so much fruit that it will be a bountiful harvest for you.

My Refuge is In the Lord

Scripture Psalms 91:2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Observation: Lately I’ve been struggling with my job. I wake up in the morning treading going to work, even to the point of feeling ill. I ponder all kinds of reasons why I hate my job so much and dwell there a good part of the day. I must be bringing so much joy to Satan, if I trusted in my God like I say I do and take refuge in Him, I would never feel the way I do. Instead of worrying about tomorrow I would spend time with God today. We only have the time we have in the present and nothing more is promised, not even the next minute.

Application: To do what I was created for and to be the man God calls me to be is to trust in Him and draw close and seek His guidance no matter what I might be going through. I need to stop living for me and trust my Lord to guide me to the place He wants me to be. I need to stop the distractions in this life and stay focused on my Lord and completely trust Him, for He cares for me and He has always shown me that.

Prayer: My Lord as you have always put on my heart Proverbs 3:5, 6 Help me trust in you with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding, but in all my ways acknowledge you and allow you to make my paths straight. I know you want the best for me, may I give myself totally to you and seek refuge only in You.
