Guard My Mouth
Scripture Psalms 141:3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
Observation: I have a bad habit of just saying what first comes to my mind without thinking and unfortunately the things that come first should have been thought out. Once you say something it’s too late to take it back. If I guarded my mouth first and prayerfully thought out what I was about to say I could encourage others, glorify God and not look like a fool.
Application: I sometime speak out of anxiousness and I need to settle down and think before I speak. I need to stop trying to talk just to hear my self and need to take a moment and ask God to place that guard over my mouth or give me the words that might encourage or comfort someone.
Prayer: My Lord I can’t do this without you and I need your guidance in what I should say. Take this anxiety from me and give me patience to wait on what it is you desire me to say and what I say may it always glorify you.
