Need to Be Obedient

Scripture Isaiah 20:2 at the same time the LORD spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, “Go, and remove the sackcloth from your body, and take your sandals off your feet.” And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

Observation: I pray that God doesn’t ask me to do what He asked Isaiah, but would I be as obedient as Isaiah was? Unfortunately, the answer would be no. He has asked me to do things that took much less faith and I let Him down. That is all God is asking us to do show our love for Him by being obedient to what He is asking.

Application: The way to show my love to God is by doing what He has called me to do. He has given me instructions in his word and He speaks to me, if I would only listen. When it comes to my own comfort I dismiss things, because I don’t want to be inconvenience. I don’t understand why He loves me, because I don’t show my love for him most of the time.

Prayer: My Lord please forgive me for my disobedience. You ask so little of me and I give you even less than that. Give me the strength and faith it will take to fulfill the purpose you have given me. I do love you Lord help me show you with the rest of this life you have given me.

A Savior Was Sent to Us

Scripture Isaiah 19:20 And it will be for a sign and for a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the LORD because of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them.

Observation: So, what makes the Bible true? It’s prophecy, no other religious book contains them. Isaiah is a book of prophesies and many describe Jesus. This scripture is another foretelling of our Lord and Savior coming to save us. God has made it clear we can be saved and made the way easy if only we would read and believe. We have one choice to make are we going to receive God’s gift of salvation in Jesus or not.

Application: I have only one job to do and that is to spread the gospel and do what I am commanded to do. Each one of us has the same mission, but each one of us will do it in a different way. God has blessed me with a testimony and gifts to be used for His service and I need to get busy using them. Time is short and not sure when my Savior is coming back, but I know He is.

Prayer: My Lord my nature is to be lazy. Help me get off the couch and get into the game. Please open my eyes and use me wherever you desire.

Woe to the Land

Scripture Isaiah 18:1 Woe to the land shadowed with buzzing wings, Which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia,

Observation: Today woe to the land can be any country. The inhumanity of each country is heartbreaking and it will all come to an end soon. The devil has been busy and seems as if he has taken over the media and the politicians and he is having his way. All of the people are preoccupied with the news and the problems of this world and our focus is on that and not on our Lord and the new earth that is coming.

Application: I need to stay away from being focused on this world but do the best I can with what God has given me control of and that is me. I need to be the best example of the man God wants me to be and to do what God has called me to do. I may not make that big of difference in this world but maybe there is someone out there that God wants me to touch with His love.

Prayer: My Lord I’m only here because you desire it and for no other reason. Show me my purpose while I’m here and fulfill it in glory and honor to your name.

Fix Your Eyes on Your Maker

Scripture Isaiah 17:7 In that day a man will look to his Maker, And his eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel.

Observation: It seems that there is always a day in the future when we will look to our maker, but why not today? It seems like it takes something dramatic before we look to our God, when we want to plea our case and seek His mercy. What about today, when things are calm to stop and look to Him with a grateful heart. To take time out and thank Him for His mercy and love. Why does a day have to go by that we don’t look for our Maker.

Application: I will not let a day go by from this day forward without looking to my Maker, do whatever I can to draw closer to Him and always come with a grateful heart no matter what the situation. He deserves everything that I have including my undying love.

Prayer: My Lord I look to you for guidance. I realize I’m here only because You desire it so, please show me the purpose you have for me and speak to me today that I may come closer to accomplishing all that you want of me.

Our Lord will Be on His Throne

Scripture Isaiah 16:5 In mercy the throne will be established; And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.”

Observation: Isaiah has several prophesies of Jesus coming and this prophesizes how Jesus will sit on His throne judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness. I can’t wait to see Jesus come again to judge this world. Then it will be time to go home.

Application: The thing that makes the Bible unique is prophesies. No other religion can boast about the coming of the Lord with the accuracy of the Bible. It assures me that my God is real and all that is said in the Bible will come about and the Bible has a very happy ending.

Prayer: My Lord I pray that the end is coming soon. This world has become so wicked and out of control. My Lord open my heart to what role you desire me to play now and direct my path.

Your Abundance Will Be Carried Away

Scripture Isaiah 15:7 Therefore the abundance they have gained, And what they have laid up, They will carry away to the Brook of the Willows.

Observation: This passage is about Moab a city that will be destroyed, but it can also be said about us. No matter what we feel we have accomplished, or treasures we might have saved up, when it’s time to leave here nothing will matter. The poorest of all men and the richest will have the same amount when they enter Heaven. The only thing that will be saved are the heavenly rewards we earned while on earth.

Application: Need to invest what I have now in the kingdom to come. To store up treasures in Heaven where rust or moth do not destroy. Instead of buying anything else for me, to take that money and give where God directs me to give. After all it’s all His anyway, I’m just called to be a good steward of what He has entrusted me with.

Prayer: My Lord help and guide me in how you what your possessions to be used. Give me wisdom to invest the gifts and talents you have blessed me with and that I might one day see the rewards of these choices.

Rest from My Sorrows

Scripture Isaiah 14:3 It shall come to pass in the day the LORD gives you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear and the hard bondage in which you were made to serve,

Observation: I just finished teaching a class on Heaven and I’m more homesick than ever. To imagine to have rest from my sorrows and fears, when now it is hard to sleep with all that is on my mind. The hard bondage of making a living and being held captives to my thoughts.

Application: However, I’m called to live this life for Christ and to help lead others home. I need to have heaven in my heart and thoughts at all times living this life to glorify God. My journey is getting closer to an end and the prize of being with my Lord is greater than anything I can imagine. Allow God to guide me to the finish line.

Prayer: My Lord help me to have thoughts of you. Help me get through these fears and sorrows I now suffer and fill my heart with thoughts of you and of home. May I live the rest of my life here in glory and honor to you.
