Those Who Hold the Testimony

Scripture: Revelations 6:9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.

Observation: Christians still are being slain for the Word of God. People have devoted their life to the spread of the gospel and others dedicate themselves and their time doing God’s work, but I can’t seem to tear myself away from the television. I pray each day to do God’s will and for Him to take this laziness away.

Application: God has created me for a purpose, but He doesn’t force me to do it. I should be forcing myself to do whatever it takes to get the Word of God out. I need to hold on to the testimony of Christ and live a life that is worth rewards and use my own testimony to help bring others to God.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for your love and creating me to fulfill a purpose in this life. Give me discipline and courage to fulfill the purpose you have created me in glory and honor to You.

Praise His Name

Scripture: Revelations 5: [12] In a loud voice they sang:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”

Observation: The angels in heaven and all the elders sing praise forever to God the Father and Jesus. This sis the way I should be living my life now. To live a life that represents Christ and what He did for me. A life without sin and when I fall short, I repent. A life that is evident to others that I belong to God.

Application: Think before I act. Will my actions and speech honor God? Will my attitude be positive and reflect the glory of my savior? Negative talk will hurt my witness so be positive and content in all my situations.

Prayer: Dear Lord you are worthy of all my love, obedience and praise. Open my heart that everyone around me may see you living in me.

God is Worthy

Scripture: Revelations 4: 11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”

Observation: The Lord is worthy of everything I have and everything that I am. Do I treat Him that way each day? God is my creator and deserves my complete praise, respect, obedience and awe, or is He just sometimes in my thoughts and action.

Application: When I pray to God I need to realize who it is I’m talking to. He is the Alpha, Omega, the creator of all things, my Master and my love and treat Him with the honor, praise and worship He deserves. God demands, and rightfully so, my full obedience, love and time. I need to start giving Him so much more than I do.

Prayer: Dear Father You are so worthy of all that I have and am. You are my creator, my Lord, my Savior and my life. Glory and honor is yours, guide your servant to please you today.

Am I Hot or Cold

Scripture: Revelations 3: [15] I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!

Observation: Sometimes I feel like I’m a good Christian with good intentions, yet when it comes to follow through I fall short. Yesterday I was to go to a meeting for lay counselors and because I was a little sick it was easier not to go as I did a couple of weeks prior. God asks me to write and again I took a half hearted effort for a few minutes. Why do I give up on what God wants of me when He never gives up on me?

Application: I need to make God’s desires my priority, not what I want to do. I need to be a hot and obedient Christian. Jesus should be able to depend on me to do His will, the will of the Father.

Prayer: Dear Lord give me the strength, the will power to do your will and live a life pleasing to you.

To Him Who Overcomes

Scripture: Revelations 2: 26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations-

Observation: I need to overcome my selfish desires, the sin in my life and the laziness that keeps me from doing God’s will. Each day I have choices to make, some lead me to do God’s will, and others grow me away from Him and I know the difference.

Application: I need to have the heart and mind of Christ. I need to persevere and do what is right. I need to overcome what is not of Christ and stay on track to do His will.

Prayer: Dear Lord thank you for another day, another opportunity to do your will. Keep me on the path of righteousness to fulfill your purpose today.

Blessed are those Who Take It To Heart

Scripture: Revelations 1: [3] Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

Observation: Blessed are those who hear it and take it to heart. I read the bible each day and for the most part my mind wanders and I don’t remember what I read. I should be hearing the words and putting them in practice. Not only hearers of the Word, but doers and yet for the most part I don’t even hear.

Application: I should make the time I read a more special. To focus on what I’m reading then to take some time to plan what is it I’m going to do with the information I read. I need to read and take it to heart.

Prayer: Dear Lord open my heart to your Word. Place within me the ability and desire to put in practice what You tell me. May I not lead an empty life, but one full of your grace, that I may please you.

Snatch Them From Fire

Scripture: Jude 1: [23] snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear–hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

Observation: Snatch others from the fire is the great commission, the one thing that Jesus asked us to do. If we look at others, as if we don’t try to reach them what they have in store for them is an eternity of fire, only because we didn’t make the effort to introduce them to Jesus. Jesus is asking us to go into a burning building to rescue them, He is asking us to tell them not to enter the building.

Application: To be aware of the people around us that are not saved and that I have a responsibility, no a command from God to do whatever I can to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and to save others from Hell.

Prayer: Dear Lord thank you that you put Justin in my life and that you used him to snatch me out of the fire. Show me how to be a spiritual fireman for you. Use me to save lives.
