Our Prayers Go to God

Scripture: Revelations 8; [4] The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel’s hand.

Observation: The prayers of the saints went up before God. I still have a difficult time believing that the God of all would listen to me. It is also hard to call myself a saint, yet I am a believer of my Lord and Savior, Jesus and the Word of God tells me He hears my prayers and answers me according to His will and purpose in my life.

Application: Never stop praying and pray more earnestly throughout the day. Verbalize what is in my heart and ask according to God’s will the desires of my heart. Pray knowing that God is listening and is pleased His child is talking to Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for listening and caring about me. My desire is to complete this journey in glory and honor to you, fulfilling the purpose you have given me.

Wipe Away Every Tear

Scripture: Revelations 7: 17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
he will lead them to springs of living water.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Observation: The Lord is at the center of the throne, shouldn’t He be at the center of my life? My actions, thoughts, speech and love should be focused on Him, my Shepard. God will guide me through this life and the next if I will allow Him and listen to Him. He loves me so much He desires to comfort me, but also wants me to accomplish the purpose He has given me.

Application: Live my life with my shepherd at the center and have Jesus guide me. Stop ask and listen to what my shepherd wants of me. Live this life proud to know my shepherd, my Master and my God and point others to Him.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for wiping every tear dry and always being there and guiding me when I would listen. Guide me now to living waters and the purpose you have created me for.

Those Who Hold the Testimony

Scripture: Revelations 6:9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.

Observation: Christians still are being slain for the Word of God. People have devoted their life to the spread of the gospel and others dedicate themselves and their time doing God’s work, but I can’t seem to tear myself away from the television. I pray each day to do God’s will and for Him to take this laziness away.

Application: God has created me for a purpose, but He doesn’t force me to do it. I should be forcing myself to do whatever it takes to get the Word of God out. I need to hold on to the testimony of Christ and live a life that is worth rewards and use my own testimony to help bring others to God.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for your love and creating me to fulfill a purpose in this life. Give me discipline and courage to fulfill the purpose you have created me in glory and honor to You.

Praise His Name

Scripture: Revelations 5: [12] In a loud voice they sang:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”

Observation: The angels in heaven and all the elders sing praise forever to God the Father and Jesus. This sis the way I should be living my life now. To live a life that represents Christ and what He did for me. A life without sin and when I fall short, I repent. A life that is evident to others that I belong to God.

Application: Think before I act. Will my actions and speech honor God? Will my attitude be positive and reflect the glory of my savior? Negative talk will hurt my witness so be positive and content in all my situations.

Prayer: Dear Lord you are worthy of all my love, obedience and praise. Open my heart that everyone around me may see you living in me.

God is Worthy

Scripture: Revelations 4: 11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”

Observation: The Lord is worthy of everything I have and everything that I am. Do I treat Him that way each day? God is my creator and deserves my complete praise, respect, obedience and awe, or is He just sometimes in my thoughts and action.

Application: When I pray to God I need to realize who it is I’m talking to. He is the Alpha, Omega, the creator of all things, my Master and my love and treat Him with the honor, praise and worship He deserves. God demands, and rightfully so, my full obedience, love and time. I need to start giving Him so much more than I do.

Prayer: Dear Father You are so worthy of all that I have and am. You are my creator, my Lord, my Savior and my life. Glory and honor is yours, guide your servant to please you today.

Am I Hot or Cold

Scripture: Revelations 3: [15] I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!

Observation: Sometimes I feel like I’m a good Christian with good intentions, yet when it comes to follow through I fall short. Yesterday I was to go to a meeting for lay counselors and because I was a little sick it was easier not to go as I did a couple of weeks prior. God asks me to write and again I took a half hearted effort for a few minutes. Why do I give up on what God wants of me when He never gives up on me?

Application: I need to make God’s desires my priority, not what I want to do. I need to be a hot and obedient Christian. Jesus should be able to depend on me to do His will, the will of the Father.

Prayer: Dear Lord give me the strength, the will power to do your will and live a life pleasing to you.

To Him Who Overcomes

Scripture: Revelations 2: 26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations-

Observation: I need to overcome my selfish desires, the sin in my life and the laziness that keeps me from doing God’s will. Each day I have choices to make, some lead me to do God’s will, and others grow me away from Him and I know the difference.

Application: I need to have the heart and mind of Christ. I need to persevere and do what is right. I need to overcome what is not of Christ and stay on track to do His will.

Prayer: Dear Lord thank you for another day, another opportunity to do your will. Keep me on the path of righteousness to fulfill your purpose today.
