Greatly Rejoicing in the Lord

Scripture Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Observation: I spend so much time worrying and thinking of myself that I don’t spend time in rejoicing in my Lord. God has given me everything that I need and I have the promise of salvation and eternal life. There is nothing on this earth that comes close to what my Lord as blessed me with, so why am I not in a state of rejoicing?

Application: My focus needs to be on my Lord. Everything that I have and that I am is a gift from God. My life should be a gift back to God as I rejoice and tell others of His greatness. I am a blessed man and should be a humble spokesman for my God as I rejoice and show Him my gratitude every day.

Prayer My Lord thank you for making me, me. You have gifted me and blessed me and I have nothing left to do but rejoice in your Holy Name. I love you, help me finish well.

The Lord is Our Light

Scripture Isaiah 60:20 Your sun shall no longer go down,
Nor shall your moon withdraw itself;
For the LORD will be your everlasting light,
And the days of your mourning shall be ended.

Observation: This verse is talking of heaven. This life will pass away and if you have received Jesus as Lord and Savior your new life will begin. We get to spend eternity on the new earth where our God will be our light and all our mourning, pain and suffering will be no more. I can’t wait to go home.

Application: Jesus talked a lot about Heaven and how unbelievably wonderful it will be. He also gave us the command to preach the gospel so that others will hear and may receive His eternal gift. Things here on earth have become so insane we are shut up in our homes and told to stay away from others, but God has called me to do whatever He asks to help others find the way and I need to obey.

Prayer My God fill me with the Holy Spirit and direct my footsteps. Lead me to those you want me to talk to, have me do whatever You ask, because you are worthy of all of my love, all my praise and all of my obedience.

Our Sins have Separated Us from God

Scripture Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear.

Observation: Our sins have separated us from God and He can’t hear our plea. Jesus came so that God, the Father and us can be united. Jesus took my sins and gave me a pathway to God. I’m united to my Lord because of Jesus love for me.

Application: Jesus is our only help in this fallen world. God has given me an assignment to reach out and tell those that He surrounds me with about the hope of eternal life. I need to seek God for wisdom on how He wants me to use what He has blessed me with for His glory.

Prayer Dear Jesus thank you for your sacrifice and love. I’m heading home because of You and can’t wait to tell you face to face how much I love You.

Stop Pointing Fingers

Scripture Isaiah 58:9 Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
“If you take away the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,

Observation: The rest of this chapter is telling us to take care of our fellow man, that is how we can honor God. If we do that and not point fingers or speak wickedly then we can call on the name of the Lord and He will hear us. We can pray and act holy, but if we don’t obey God’s command to love others as we love ourselves it is all in vain.

Application: I need to see others as God sees them as His children. I know God loves me, but He loves all of His children equally. I need to stop focusing on just me and be concerned for the needs of others.

Prayer Dear Lord take away my selfishness and give me a generous heart towards others. May I serve you my serving Your children. Thank you, Father, for all I have and am is because of You.

Why Don’t We Fear God

Scripture Isaiah 57:11 “And of whom have you been afraid, or feared,
That you have lied
And not remembered Me,
Nor taken it to your heart?
Is it not because I have held My peace from of old
That you do not fear Me?

Observation: We haven’t seen God’s wrath in a long time and maybe we wonder if He is still around. With all of the things happening lately you would think He would do a Sodom and Gomorrah and start destroying the evil. Because God has been quiet and holding His peace we stopped fearing Him. Even though He holds everything in His hand and can pass judgement at any moment.

Application: I need to remember God is not only love but He is just. This world needs to be judged for all of the wrong it has done, for idols that are put before God and the inhumanity that is seen every day. Hell is real and was created for the demons, but so many people are going to end there. I need to warn others and to remind them to fear God’s judgement because it last forever.

Prayer My Lord, I thank you for your mercy and grace and I know I don’t deserve it. I know what I deserve and I thank you for covering me with the blood of your son. Speak to me and use me to help others see the light.

God’s Righteousness Revealed

Scripture Isaiah 56:1 Thus says the LORD:
“Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,
And My righteousness to be revealed.

Observation: This is a prophecy about Jesus. He’s telling His people that salvation was coming and to stay strong in His word and to obey. God’s righteousness was revealed when Jesus came and died for our sins. There are so many prophesies about Jesus that God confirmed His plans, but we have a choice to receive it or not.

Application: I have received my salvation from my Lord and I know His plan is to have others receive it as well. I have a scope of people that God will put in my path and I need to do whatever I’m called to do to see that they receive Jesus as well.

Prayer My God, I know You have given me a purpose and I ask you to reveal to me each day what you desire of me. I’m your loving servant command me and I’ll obey.

When God’s Word Goes Forth

Scripture Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Observation: God has given us His word and it’s more powerful than a double edge sword. We are called as God’s children to spread His word to others. We don’t feel that it might be received with gladness or even an open mind, but it doesn’t matter what we think. When His word goes forth it will accomplish what God wants it to accomplish, our job is to only tell others.

Application: I need to stop just using my words which are empty most of the time, but to use God’s word to express God to others. I need to get past any embarrassment and to speak boldly for my Lord. When I received Jesus as my Lord and savior, I committed to live my life differently and that He would guide me with the Holy Spirit and I need to do whatever it takes to keep that commitment.

Prayer My Lord, I owe You everything and my goal is to glorify you. May I understand more of your word so that I may share it with others.
