The Peace of the Lord

Scripture Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

Observation: I trust in you my Lord, but I have my moments when my thoughts are on me and the trouble around me. My thoughts are always wandering and not fixed on You as they should be. The devil knows how to pull my strings and I let him. I’m always asking for peace and I know I can’t have it until I give to Your will completely.

Application: I start each day in prayer and that is where I leave it. I need to bring that prayer with me throughout the day and maintain a focus on God so I can get that peace I so desperately seek.

Prayer: Lord, I believe, help my unbelief. I desire your peace in my life, help me draw closer to you. I love and need you.

Lord You’re My Strength

Scripture Isaiah 25:4 For You have been a strength to the poor,
A strength to the needy in his distress,
A refuge from the storm,
A shade from the heat;
For the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

Observation: I’m so focused on my problems, I forget who has gotten me through them in the past and is always there when I need Him. If I take a moment and think of all that the Lord has done for me and how He has always had my back in the worst of times, it gives me hope. So why do I spend so much time away from Him? The devil is powerful, and tries to keep away, but only when I let him.

Application: I have the choice to choose whom I listen to and I need to always choose God. When I feel myself get anxious, I need to stop and pray and tell my Lord How I’m feeling and ask for direction. I believe He is waiting for me to do just that

Prayer: My Lord I’m yours and my time here is coming to an end and the new beginning for me is just around the corner. Help me finish this race in a way that will please and glorify your name.

We Have Defiled the Earth

Scripture Isaiah 24:5The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants,
Because they have transgressed the laws,
Changed the ordinance,
Broken the everlasting covenant.

Observation: We are in the situation that we are in because of what we have done. We don’t obey God’s commands and when we don’t feel like obeying them, we change them to suit our desires and not God’s. We’ve had broken God’s covenant and we are paying the price of our disobedience.

Application: It’s time for us to draw closer to God. To read and understand His Word and obey it. I need to be a better example of what God desires of His children. I need to study more and understand my Lord’s will for my life and the purpose I have in Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord I beg for your forgiveness and I ask for your guidance. Open our eyes to you again that we will repent as a nation and seek you with all of our heart. I love you Lord show me how to live this life in a way that will show you how much.

Dwell Before the Lord

Scripture Isaiah 23:18 Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the LORD; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.

Observation: All through this chapter it tells how the Lord will deal with this city and all that they saved up for themselves will be destroyed. This is the last verse of this chapter telling how all they set aside for themselves, will end up being the Lord’s people and how our Lord will take care of us as we glorify Him.

Application: I’m not a Californian or even an American citizen, but my citizenship is from my Lord. I’m a child of God and need to act that way. There should be no confusion from the people that God surrounds me with that I’m a Christian and my Lord is my Master.

Prayer: Dear Lord please forgive me when I get lost in the things of this world. Hold me close to you and guide me through this life until I come home to You.

There Is More to Come

Scripture Isaiah 22:13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we shall die.

Observation: Most people are staying at home today because of the Corona Virus that has swept the world. I’m praying that people might be realizing that there is more to this life than simply enjoying the pleasures here and now and that there is so much more when we die. This virus has got the world’s attention and my hope is that the attention will start being focused on our Lord.

Application: I need to use this time to pray and seek guidance on what my Lord wants of me. I know this is not the place I was met to be but was met to be with my Lord for all of eternity. I need to find a way to share that with others.

Prayer: Dear God please speak to me and show me what it is you want me to do. Reveal my purpose and guide me on the rest of my journey. May I not be so consumed by the things of this world but live a life I can bring home to you.

God Has Spoken It

Scripture Isaiah 21:17 and the remainder of the number of archers, the mighty men of the people of Kedar, will be diminished; for the LORD God of Israel has spoken it.”

Observation: So, does God speak today? Yes, He does, but do we listen? Satan has us so busy and distracted we don’t listen to the only One that is worth listening to. He speaks to us in prayer and in His word every day. However, if we are not in His word or thinking of other things when we are reading we won’t hear Him. The only direction we need is God’s, but for most of us we don’t obey and wonder why our lives are in such disarray.

Application: I need to take my own advice and listen for God to speak to me before I do anything. I need to be quiet and wait on the Lord for direction. I need to study more to make sure I’m on the path that pleases Him, because if I’m not I will never hear His voice.

Prayer: My Lord help me please. My thoughts are evil and I need to hear from you. Please help me do what you call me to do. I love you Lord guide me please.

Need to Be Obedient

Scripture Isaiah 20:2 at the same time the LORD spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, “Go, and remove the sackcloth from your body, and take your sandals off your feet.” And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

Observation: I pray that God doesn’t ask me to do what He asked Isaiah, but would I be as obedient as Isaiah was? Unfortunately, the answer would be no. He has asked me to do things that took much less faith and I let Him down. That is all God is asking us to do show our love for Him by being obedient to what He is asking.

Application: The way to show my love to God is by doing what He has called me to do. He has given me instructions in his word and He speaks to me, if I would only listen. When it comes to my own comfort I dismiss things, because I don’t want to be inconvenience. I don’t understand why He loves me, because I don’t show my love for him most of the time.

Prayer: My Lord please forgive me for my disobedience. You ask so little of me and I give you even less than that. Give me the strength and faith it will take to fulfill the purpose you have given me. I do love you Lord help me show you with the rest of this life you have given me.
