Continue to Live in Christ

Scripture: Colossians 2: 6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,

Observation: Even though I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior I don’t always live in Him. I choose to live in this world and get preoccupied with what is happening around me. At times I forget why God put me here. If I live in Christ daily, He will guide my life.

Application: When I get into this world I need to step back and remember who I belong to. The creator of everything, my Lord and Master and then I need to live for Him and in Him. There should not be a doubt to anyone around me who’s I am and they should see the difference God makes in my life.

Prayer: Dear God help me each day to live in You. That I am surrounded by your love and go in the direction you desire me to go in.

A Life Worthy

Scripture: Colossians 1: [10] And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

Observation: That is what I want to live a life worthy of the Lord. I can’t dwell on my past mistakes but make a better effort from now on to live a better life, to strive to please Him and bear fruit. I want to be an orchard for God.

Application: I need to increase my knowledge of God by meditating more on His word and make plans to do good works and to make sure those plans bear fruit. My purpose is to please God and I want Him to be proud of His boy.

Prayer: Dear Lord show me how to glorify you. Use me today to please you and work for you.

Don’t Be Anxious

Scripture: Philippians 4: [6] Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Observation: As I write this I’m thinking about the money from a trust and how I need to know what is happening with it. I think about it constantly and am anxious. As much as I worry and think about it, I realize how little I pray about it.

Application: I need to focus on all God has given me and how He has taken care of me all my life. My focus should be on His desires not mine and pray for His will not mine.

Prayer: My Lord may my thoughts and desires be yours. Please take this anxiety away and take this burden from my heart and mind.

A Citizen of Heaven

Scripture: Philippians 3: [20] But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Observation: I live my life most of the time as a citizen of this world. I forget I’m just visiting. Everything I have is borrowed from God and when my time comes it will be given away. Jesus is my passport back home and I should be longing for heaven and doing everything I can to be welcomed home to my Father.

Application: I should live my life while focusing on my true home. Thinking of things that will honor God. Fulfilling my purpose here on this earth and desiring to hear my Father say, “well done good and faithful servant, welcome home.”

Prayer: My Lord I know that you are preparing a place for me. May I complete the work you have for me so I may come home and be with you.

My Attitude as Christ’s

Scripture: Philippians 2: 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Observation: As I was reading this scripture, I realized how dissimilar my attitude is. I get angry with others, impatient wanting my way, focused on a house, the time I spend doing my Father’s will and the way I want to be praised. I start each morning in prayer wanting to do God’s work, but with the wrong attitude.

Application: I need to stop and consider my attitude throughout the day and ask myself is this what Jesus would do?

Prayer: My Father make me more in the image of your son. Give me Christ’s attitude throughout each day that I may glorify you.

Living for Christ

Scripture: Philippians 1: [21] For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Observation: Am I living for Christ? I think about how much time I spend thinking of things I need to do, worrying, buying stuff and other things of this world. Then I think about how much time I spend in doing Christ’s work. It’s embarrassing the percentage. Yet Christ paid the sacrifice for me that if I die it would be gain.

Application: I need to start living for Christ, the way he died for me. My focus in everything I do should be living for Christ and others need to see that in me.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me live this life for you. I know I can’t do it for I’m too weak, but my strength comes from you.

Serving My Lord

Scripture: Ephesians 6: [7] Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,

Observation: I work halfheartedly at best. I cheat my employer of time and effort. Even when I serve at church sometimes it is out of pride or recognition. I look for praise from men but not praise from God.

Application: I need to start doing everything for the glory of God. I only have a short time to honor God in this world and I need to get busy. When I go to work tomorrow, I need to do a job that would glorify God.

Prayer: My Lord take this pride and laziness away and turn my focus on pleasing you. May I glorify you each day.
