Rejoicing over Repentance

Scripture: Luke 15:7 I tell you in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Observation: I continue to ask for God’s will and to show me how to please him. Here it is in his word to help bring sinners to the light of Christ. Yet I spend very little of my time reaching out to others and searching for the lost.

Application: Make a true effort to seek out the people who are lost and tell them about what God as done for me.

Prayer: My Lord I cry out to do your will. Guide me today to someone who needs to know about you. Give me the words to say and the strength to say them.

Humble Yourself

Scripture: Luke 14:11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Observation: Most of my life I tried to exalt myself, be more important than I was. I remember almost every time I did, I made a fool of myself. Now that the Lord has my life, I try to be humble in all situations and because of this God has given me this wonderful appreciation of what He has done in me. To serve others is my greatest joy and I know that is what God has created me for.

Application: To continue to serve with no excuses this time. To lead only when asked and always be available to serve.

Prayer: My Lord may this servant serve you by serving others in your Name.

I Don’t Know You

Scripture: Luke 13:27 But he will reply, “I don’t know you or where you came from. Away from me, all you evil doers.”

Observation: When I read this, I got a chill. To think when the time comes Jesus could say to me, I don’t know you. I want to live a life each day knowing my Lord and Savior more. When the time comes for me, I want Jesus to be able to recognize me immediately and put his arms around me. My heart not just my words need to honor God.

Application: I need each day to draw closer to God and get to know what He desires of me. I need to wake up each morning talking to him and then talk to him right before I go to bed and the rest of the day, live it for Him.

Prayer: My Lord draw me closer to you so there is no doubt that I belong to you.

The Holy Spirit will Teach

Scripture: Luke 12:12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say

Observation: There have been times when I prayed and words came out of my mouth and it as if someone else was saying them. I’ve talked to others and have said some astounding things and had to sit back in amazement of what I just said. When speaking of my Lord I’ve never came up short on words yet never practiced what I was going to say.

Application: I need to speak boldly about my relationship with my Lord and not worry about the words that will come out. When I think of my God and all He has done there is only love in my heart so I know the words that come out will reflect that love.

Prayer: My Lord use my tongue as an encourager to others and bring them closer to you.

Obey the Word of God

Scripture: Luke 11:28 He replied, “ Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey it.”

Observation: Hearing is not enough. I can read the Bible every day for the rest of my life and it won’t draw me closer to God until I obey what it says. If I disobey God’s commands and not forgive others, don’t give to those in need, love others it will draw me away from God.

Application: I need to continue each day understanding and reading the Word but more important obeying each day what it says. I know in my heart what to do I need however to do it. When I am disobedient, which I most likely will be, I need to call on God and ask for his forgiveness and guidance.

Prayer: My Lord guide me and give me strength to obey each command in your Word. May I glorify You today.

Go and Do Likewise

Scripture: Luke 10:37 The expert in the law replied’ “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Observation: It’s so easy to get upset at people especially those who wrong you. Some people are easy to forgive and other more difficult. To God there is no difference on how we are to treat each other no matter who they are or what they do to us. We are to treat everyone with love.

Application: I need to start seeing others through God’s eyes and start reaching out more to help. I need to remember how God treats me each day and do the same for those He puts in my path.

Prayer: My Lord may the way I treat others today reflect how I’m treated tomorrow.

Greatness of God

Scripture: Luke 9:43 And they were all amazed at the greatness of God.

Observation: I don’t feel we’re amazed enough of the greatness of God. We’ve become so involved in this world that we take God for granted. We can look around at our surroundings and see the beauty in the mountains, ocean and other wonders God has created yet not praise God for His greatness. I look at my life and see how God has worked and I may thank Him but not be amazed that the Creator of the Universe has time for me.

Application: I need to see the greatest of God each day and kneel before him in amazement of His greatness and love for me.

Prayer: My Lord open my eyes to your greatness each day.
