How much God as Done

Scripture: Luke 8:39 “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus has done for him.

Observation: It’s not very often I think of all that God has done for me. He has saved my physical life several times and has given me eternal life. He took me from the depth of depression and has filled my life with joy. Yet with all He has done for me who am I telling?

Application: I need to be more vocal in telling others of all God has done for me. My one assignment is to go out and spread the Gospel. It starts with what God has done in my life then explain to them what He could do in theirs.

Prayer: My Lord show me how to spread your word. Not to be silent anymore but to tell at any opportunity what you’ve done for me.

Jesus’ Heart

Scripture: Luke 7:13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”

Observation: I can’t count how many times my Lord’s heart went out to me. There were many times when I was down and at the end of my rope He came to get me through. The times I was down on my knees and no idea where to go or what to do He was there with open arms to comfort me.

Application: I need to know my God is always there and He sees me in my pain. He will only allow me to have as much as I can take and will work in those times to grow me. I need to look at my past and see how many times his heart went out to me, he’s always there

Prayer: My Lord hold me when I’m down and guide me through each day and show me what to do.

Do to Others

Scripture: Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them to do you.

Observation: I have this scripture on my desk and I believe if people would obey it we would have no more strife. All of us want to be treated well and with love and respect, but it’s so much harder giving it. We treat others the way they treat us instead of how we want to be treated. If I would just take a moment and instead of reacting to what is done to me and ask myself how would I want to be treated and treat that person in that way.

Application: To look at people and in any situation treat them how I would like to be treated instead of how I think they should be treated.

Prayer: My Lord may I see each person as your child and treat them with the love you show me.

Because You Say So

Scripture: Luke 5:6 Simon answered,” Master we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.

Observation: I want to be like Peter when God tells me to do something I do it. No matter how impossible it seems to me I need to be obedient and just do it. Too many times, God puts on my heart to do something, but I try to reason it out instead of just doing it.

Application: When I know there is an opportunity to do something that honors God, I need to just do it. No excuses simply give it to God and let him direct my path. I need to learn that my job is to obey and God’s is to get it done.

Prayer: Lord may this servant listen and obey each command you give me without question.

Serve God Only

Scripture: Luke 4:8 Jesus answered, “It is written; worship the Lord your God and serve him only.”

Observation: When Satan tempted Jesus these are the words he used. I found in my life when Satan tempts me and my mind strays and begins to listen to him. I stop and say what Jesus said, “Satan away from me has it is written worship the Lord your God and serve him only.” By being taken in by Satan we are serving him and putting our desires before God’s.

Application: Whenever I stray from what I know God wants of me I need to stop and worship my Lord and remind myself who I serve.

Prayer: My Lord I belong to you and will worship you only and serve you each day.

The Ax is at the Root

Scripture: Luke 3:9 The ax is already at the root of the tree and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

Observation: Sometimes I can stop and think of things I’ve done that produced good fruit. Unfortunately, they are few and far between. There are more times that my thoughts are negative, my actions not Godly, my truth less than truthful. What is God going to do with a tree that has a little good fruit, but more bad. I pray he does what was said in the parable and dig around me, fertilize and watch to see if I produce more good fruit.

Application: Work on producing good fruit. Think of my actions thoughts and deeds and make sure good things come from it. Serve more, help and love others.

Prayer: My Lord care for me that I will bear a harvest of good fruit for you.

My Father’s House

Scripture: Luke 2:49 “Why were you searching for me? He asked, “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”

Observation: That’s where I need to be in my Father’s house. No matter what I’m doing I should be doing what my Father wants me to do. I believe my Father’s house means to be mentally with God. Doing God’s will, listening to him and being in his presence.

Application: Wherever I am I need to picture myself in my Father’s house showing respect and honor to God in everything I do. Knowing my Father is there watching and listening to me.

Prayer: My Lord welcome me into your house, may I honor You with how I act, think and what I say.
