Do Not Fear Man

Scripture Isaiah 51:7: “Listen to Me, you who know righteousness,
You people in whose heart is My law:
Do not fear the reproach of men,
Nor be afraid of their insults.

Observation: We are being told if we know the word of God there is no reason to fear others or anything. God knows where we are and what is happening around us. Even what we think might be the worst thing that can happen, death, is really just the beginning of life.

Application: Whatever I’m going through I need to search the scriptures to find God’s answer to my situation, not man. I’m going through the worst time that I know and there is so much information around me I fall into confusion and depression. I need to stay close to God and follow the path that God is making for me.

Prayer My Lord forgive me for being distracted by all that is happening around me. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit and open my eyes so that I may see how you might want to use your servant.

Jesus Suffered for Me

Scripture Isaiah 50:6: I gave My back to those who struck Me,
And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard;
I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

Observation: This is just one of the hundreds of prophecies about Jesus in the Bible. This one shows how He suffered for us so that we may have eternal life. Jesus knew all of the scriptures and what He was going to go through, but He did it anyway. I can’t understand that kind of love and never will, but I need to try.

Application: I need to remember all that Jesus went through to save me. It’s not enough to know just that He loved me, but the depth of His love. I need to thank Him every day, but more importantly to tell others about a love that can’t fully be described.

Prayer Dear Lord, I do love you, help me love you the way that will honor you. Give me the strength and courage to share that love with others and point them to you. Can’t wait to be with you for all of eternity.

God Will Not Forget Me

Scripture Isaiah 49:15: Can a woman forget her nursing child,
And not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget,
Yet I will not forget you.

Observation: God uses the most compassionate comparison to show His love for us. He tells of a mother with a newborn that she is nursing and how could such a mother not love her own child. God tells us even if she forgets him, which would seem almost impossible, that He will never forget us, because He loves us so much.

Application: I need to remember God’s love for me every day. I need to thank Him and return that love the best that I can with what I do and say in this world. I need to share that love and tell others of God’s love for them.

Prayer My Lord, I do love You with all of my heart, mind and soul. I have a hard time showing that love and need the help of the Holy Spirit. Please move in my life that others may see you through my life.

God Will Lead Us

Scripture Isaiah 48:17: Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,
The Holy One of Israel:
“I am the LORD your God,
Who teaches you to profit,
Who leads you by the way you should go.

Observation: I’ve been spending a lot of time at home because the COVID Virus has closed my job down. I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to do instead of asking God what He desires of me. We feel as if we are the ones that need to make the decisions on what we should do and where we are to go without consulting our Creator. He knows what is best for us and what purpose we have and wants to lead us for our own good and His glory.

Application: I need to stop worrying about what I’m supposed to be doing. I need to spend more time with my Lord asking and then stopping to listen to what He wants me to do. He has given me this time for a reason and I need to ask Him to lead me each day.

Prayer My Lord guide your servant on the way I should go. I’m getting closer to the finish line help me win this race, that I will finish well for your glory. I love you and need your direction in my life.

Those Who Trust in Wickedness

Scripture Isaiah 47:10 “For you have trusted in your wickedness;
You have said, ‘No one sees me’;
Your wisdom and your knowledge have warped you;
And you have said in your heart,
‘I am, and there is no one else besides me.’

Observation: There are so many powerful people in the news as of late that fit this description. They must feel they are so powerful and we are helpless because of that power and maybe we are. However, God sees them and only He will judge them. Jesus as overcome the world.

Application: Not to get so caught up in what is happening in this world and not to worry about things that I have no control over, but take it to prayer. I need to have a calm spirit and do my job, which is spreading the gospel message. I know God will do what is right and I need to do what God commands me to do.

Prayer My Lord help give me a peaceful spirit and not to worry about anything but what you call me to do. You deserve the best I have, may I give that to you every day.

God’s Pleasure

Scripture Isaiah 46:10: Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure,’

Observation: God is saying He is still in control and nothing can change that. He has proved who He is and reigns over this world and will do what He desires. We are not called to understand, but we are called to obey and trust. We feel we need to understand what is happening before we consent to it, but that is not God’s desire, He requires faith in Him.

Application: I need to concede to my God and not depend on my own understanding, but in everything trust Him. He is the one to guide and direct my life and all I have to do is be willing to obey Him.

Prayer My Lord my thoughts are sinful and I go astray every day. Please speak to your servant and direct me in what will please You and that I will humbly obey your commands.

The Lord Has Created It

Scripture Isaiah 45:8: “Rain down, you heavens, from above,
And let the skies pour down righteousness;
Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation,
And let righteousness spring up together.
I, the LORD, have created it.

Observation: I can’t wait until righteousness pours down, because lately all I’ve seen is evil. Maybe I only see evil because that is what I’m looking for and that is what the devil wants me to see. Righteousness is still here in the heart of a volunteer that helps care for others that can’t help themselves, police officers in the midst of hate that are trying to help, missionaries and if you look you’ll find so many others.

Application: I need to be more aware of God in the middle of all the evil and ask Him to open my eyes to the righteousness that still exists around me. To be part of that righteousness to help others see God through the pain and confusion of what is happening.

Prayer Lord give me strength and wisdom to help bring righteousness to people around me. Make me aware of those You surround me with and may I be an encouragement to them.
