Can Others Follow My Example?

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

Observation: I hope one day I may be able to say that to others, to follow my example. I do want to follow the example of Christ, but each day I fall short in my thoughts, word and actions. However I’m so much better than I use to be and if I continue to attempt to be more like my Lord and Savior I can be a man others can follow as I follow Christ.

Application: Continue to pray, read my Bible and other Christian books and serve. Serving was the example Jesus showed us while on this earth. To follow Jesus’ example is to do what He did, so if I don’t serve I’m not following my Lord.

Prayer: Dear Lord soften my heart and guide me each day to be more like you. Give me that servant’s heart, caring for the needs of others above my own. I freely give you this life as a living sacrifice, may it be holy and pleasing to you.

Seeking the Good of Others

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:24 Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.

Observation: I spent most of my life just looking out for me and not caring for others at all. When Jesus came into my life He changed that, He put certain groups of people on my heart like the homeless, children and elderly. Then he continued putting on my heart people and he gave me the heart of a servant. Yet as God continues to change and soften my heart my focus continues to come back to me. I’m a much better man than I was before my Lord, but I still have a ways to go to be the man He wants.

Application: To search for the needs of others I can meet. Focus on my Lord and he will direct me to others and be obedient to what he desires in my life. Ask God to give me his eyes for his children that I may see them as He does.

Prayer: Dear Lord strengthen me and continue to soften my heart and give me a love for others. May I not grow weary of doing your will may I be missed by others when it is time to go home.

Going into Strict Training

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9[25] Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

Observation: Today I’m going to church for my first internship class, strict training. I want to fulfill my purpose I read and pray each day and read another Christian Book, I volunteer some of my time to outreaches from the church and attempt to witness these are my training grounds.

Application: I need to train harder. I need to train as if I was going into the Olympics and not a senior softball team. I need to do more than give some of my spare time, but make it a priority instead of time left over in a day. I need to start jogging instead of walking and work my way into a sprint for spreading the gospel

Prayer: Dear Lord be my trainer. Show me how to train and help me accomplish the goal you set before me. I can’t do it myself I am weak but in you I am strong and can do all things. May I finish the race well and win the prize

Loving and Knowing God

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 8:3 But the man who loves God is known by God.

Observation: I feel at peace reading this because I do love God. I may not show it all the time, but God knows my heart. Imagine the creator of all things knows me personally and he knows that I love him.

Application: To continue not only loving God but showing him how much I love him and to show others the love I have for my heavenly Father and my Lord and Savior. It shouldn’t be a secret, my love for God, I’ll only be able to be a good witness by showing others my love and why I love Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord I do love you with all my heart, even though at times I can see why you would doubt. Draw me closer to you that I may show you and others how much I love you and why. You are worthy of all my love, praise and obedience may I offer that up each day as a love offering to you.

Remaining in God’s Situation

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 7:24 Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to.

Observation: The first thing is that I’m responsible to God. Every action, thought and word I speak I have a responsibility to God to be honoring to Him. God knows my every action and has a plan for my life, but I must be obedient in what he calls me to do. He puts me in situations and he will call me out of them when he is ready, so I must be patient and in prayer so I know what to do.

Application: Think and pray before I act. Ask for God’s guidance in everything I do and stay where he calls me. Do not give in to my selfish ways but be obedient to God where and when he calls.

Prayer: Dear Lord open my eyes and heart to you. Help me be obedient to you and stay where you put me. Speak to me so I don’t get lost on this journey and guide me through this life.

Uniting Myself with the Lord

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:17 But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.

Observation: This is telling me if I will unite with my Lord, be obedient and ask his will, I’ll know what He wants of me. I’ll be with Him in spirit and he will be able to guide me through my purpose He has created me for. However it is my decision if I want to unite with Jesus he will not force me I need to be willing to go to him and ask him to guide me.

Application: To ask each day to be united with my Lord to ask for his guidance and direction in my life. To seek his will throughout the day and ask to be united in spirit.

Prayer: Dear Lord I ask for your guidance and to open my eyes to your desires for my life. Unite me in spirit with you so I may know your will for my life and be obedient in doing that will. I’m here to serve you and serve you only.

Do Not Boast

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 5:6 Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?

Observation: I need to be more careful on my boasting. For instance when I talk about an event we do at church I’ll reference the part I did or indicate all the things that I did and not the whole group. When talking to someone they might think that it was my idea, instead of God’s. This little bit of information can change the way people think of the event and I do this constantly bringing all the wonderful things I do, instead of giving credit where credit is do.

Application: Realize I have nothing to boast about. The only reason I can do anything is because God has given me that ability and has allowed me to do it. Give credit to others and build them up, encouraging them to do more for the Kingdom. Humble myself before others and God.

Prayer: Dear Lord humble your servant before you. Guide me on how to live this life in glory and honor to you. Touch my heart and open my eyes to your desires.
