Repent and Be Converted

Scripture Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

Observation: Repent is a big part of forgiveness, because if you refuse to change the way you live you can’t receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Repenting involves turning from our sins and walking towards God grace and it will not be a onetime action, but a daily realization that we sin and need to turn to God for forgiveness.

Application: I know that I continue to sin in my flesh, but as soon as I realize what I’ve done I need to repent and turn to God for strength to stay the course He has for me. Each day I need to stay closer to my Lord and ask for the strength and guidance I’ll need to be the man that will please Him.

Prayer Dear Lord convict me if I turn from You at any time today. Give me the wisdom I need to be aware of my wickedness and be the man that will be able to glorify You.

Praising God

Scripture Acts 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Observation: Jesus told us the greatest commandment was to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul and to love others as yourself. After receiving the Holy Spirit, the first thing the people did was to praise God. Are we doing that today? There is so much going on today we sometimes forget God all together. We should be praising God instead of worrying about things we can’t change and by doing that we will draw others to Him.

Application: I need to start my day by praising God and thanking Him for all the many blessings He has given me. When I go on my walks, God needs to be the focus of my attention as I speak to others. When I pray God needs to get the glory and love He deserves from me. My mission isn’t to glorify myself, but my Lord.

Prayer Dear God, I praise You for all that You are. You are worthy of all of my love, praise, worship and time. Use me in a way that will please and glorify You. I love You Lord You deserve the best from me.

Power from the Holy Spirit

Scripture Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Observation: I’ve felt the power of the Holy Spirit many times. It’s only because of His power that I can go and pray with others each day or write the things that I do. It’s a wonderful experience when the Holy Spirit takes over in prayer speaking to the person God has put in my path that day. I have confidence to know I will have the right words to say to someone who needs God’s word in their life.

Application: Each day to ask the Holy Spirit to guide me and not try to do it on my own. Learn from the Holy Spirit as He speaks to others through me. Speak with Him as I walk and try to understand my role in this time and to get out of my own way.

Prayer Dear Lord I’m yours. Continue to use the Holy Spirit in my life to draw me closer to You and to be a better person. I know my short comings and need You to direct my steps as I walk along this path You have chosen for me.

I’m One That Jesus Loves

Scripture John 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.

Observation: What a wonderful title one that Jesus loves. It’s a title that is given to everyone whether we realize it or not. Jesus suffered and died for everyone even though not everyone will accept this precious gift. He said there is no greater love than to give your life for a friend and He did.

Application: I need to show others that we are loved by our creator and that this life is to get ready for our eternal life with Him. I need to act and say the things that will honor God so no one can find fault in my love for Him. Be ready to tell others the hope I have in my Lord no matter what the cost.

Prayer My Lord I don’t know why You love me, maybe You will explain it when I get home. May I show my love for You that others may see and bring them closer to You. I know I can’t do this on my own so may the Holy Spirit fill me and act through me. I love You Lord.

Having Life in His Name

Scripture John 20:31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Observation: I spent most of my life not believing or more accurately not caring about Jesus. I wasted so much time not knowing Him, but when Jesus came into my life it made all the difference. I was able to look at myself as being His, instead of everything being about me. Now I have a purpose and that purpose is founded in my Lord.

Application: My purpose is to introduce others to my Savior so that they may to have life in His name. To be born again is true and the beginning of a new life here and the promise of a better life for all eternity. God wants none to perish and I want to do my part to help others find that special love.

Prayer My Lord lead me today to anyone You desire to speak to. Give me the strength to make this walk and do what You desire. Look forward as always spending this special time with You.

It Is Finished

Scripture John 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Observation: Jesus’ work was completed. He took our sins unto himself so that we may have eternal life. We owe Jesus everything, but how much do we give Him? Jesus knew we could never repay Him for such a gift, He gave it out of love. There are things I owe such as obedience to God’s commandments. Jesus said the greatest one was to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, mind and soul and that the second is to love others as you love yourself.

Application: Each day I need to have God’s commandments and word in my heart. Each day is new and if I fell short yesterday this day is new and I strive to be better. God deserves my best and even though it will never be enough it glorifies Him as I try.

Prayer My Lord I’m yours and I thank you that You finished the work on the cross so that I can be with You when You call me. Grow me closer to You and open my eyes to the things that will please You.

The Cup God Gives Us

Scripture John 18:11 So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”

Observation: We each have a cup that God gives us, it will never be like the cup of Christ, but still a purpose we are called to fulfill. Some of us will not drink that cup out of selfishness and inconvenience and God will not force us to, but by not drinking it we will lose some of our rewards in heaven. The cup is for our good and God would not give it to us if He felt we couldn’t drink it. He has given us the Holy Spirit to help us and we are called to honor our Lord by partaking in this cup.

Application: Each day I’m called to take up the cup and obey my Father. The drink I’ve been giving is more refreshing than any other that I have had on this earth. I get to pray and talk to my brothers and sisters and we enjoy the Lord’s company each day. It’s what Jesus told the Samaritan woman; it’s the living water that He promised.

Prayer My Lord please give me the cup You desire me to take up today. Give me wisdom and strength to do whatever You have called me to do. Put those in my path that You desire to speak to and bless this day.
