A Servant of Christ

Scripture 1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

Observation: I’m called to be a servant of Christ and a steward of all that He has given me. As A servant I wait for my Masters instructions, which is given in His word. I pray each day to see the path my Master chooses me to be on and walk with Him each day. He gives me only a day at a time and within that day are His commands and my job is to simply obey and complete the task He sets before me.

Application: It’s a new day and I need to be prepared for what my Lord has in store for me. I need to be humble and focused on His direction for the day and complete the tasks He gives me. My job is to do His will and hope that I hear the words well done at the end of the day.

Prayer Good Morning my Lord I’m ready to serve and fulfill your commands. Lead me today on my journey and put those in my path you desire to speak to. May I be a good steward of the gifts you have given me and may I bring a smile to your face today.

Our Reward is Up Us

Scripture 1 Corinthians 3:8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

Observation: God has called us to our own labor. He has a purpose for us and through our life that purpose can change as we grow in Christ. Like any typical job we start at the bottom and as we learn more skills we get promoted to do different levels of work and that is what the Christian life is learning new skills and advancing in God’s work.

Application: Continue to do what God has called me to do today and learn how to do it better. Keep in contact with my boss and ask for His review of my performance and see how I can do it better. Listen for new job assignments and take on any challenge knowing that God will guide me through each one as I go.

Prayer My Lord I want to serve You in any way You desire. Continue to trust me with new assignments and teach me your ways. May I do my job in a way that will please You. You deserve the best that I have.

What God Has Prepared for His Loved Ones

Scripture 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Observation: I can’t wait to see what God has been preparing for us. I know I don’t deserve anything, but God is the good Father and wants to give His children something special. I know as a parent on those special occasions that I gave my children gifts it brought me joy to watch them open their presents. At times it was a very special gift that they weren’t expecting which brought even more joy. I’m excited to see what my Father has prepared for me.

Application: The key in this passage is for those who loved Him. I can’t love God without focusing on Him and spending quality time with Him. I’ll never know God enough to understand why He loves me so much, but that should never stop me from trying.

Prayer Thank you Father for all that You have done for me. I thank you that I have a place with You for all eternity, which I don’t deserve. May I be focused on what You desire of me here and fulfill it in glory and honor to your name.

The Foolish Things

Scripture 1 Corinthians 1:27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

Observation: Anytime God uses me I think of this verse. It may not be the most uplifting verse for me, but it’s true. I am one of the foolish and weak things God uses at times to help others. I’m still honored that God could use me at all and I wait on the opportunity each day to be used to glorify Him.

Application: Each day I want God to mold me into what He can use for His purpose. To always be available without excuse and to do what He commands me to do. May I always be available to be a tool that my Lord can use.

Prayer Dear Lord use this fool today to do your will. Please put someone in my path that needs you and use me to talk to that person. My only purpose is to serve You, please use me today.

Deceiving the Hearts of the Simple

Scripture Romans 16:18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.

Observation: This verse is for today as we are all being deceived. There is no concern for God and His children. Politicians, leaders, and profiteers use the media today to deceive us and we are bombarded with lies every day. The rich continue to get richer on these lies and instead of turning to God we are willing to be deceived.

Application: I no longer listen to the news and do not debate others’ opinions on what they think is going on. My only concern is to serve my Lord the best that I can and to help others focus on God to give them peace. Start each day in prayer and listen to God to direct me for that day,

Prayer My Lord as I heard yesterday may I bring the loaves and fishes to You and let you do the miracles. Help me be faithful in what you call me to do and that it will glorify You.

Like Minded Toward Others

Scripture Romans 15:5 Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,

Observation: We have the ability to love others through Jesus. At times we feel we have no ability to love others especially those who might have done us wrong, but God has given His children that gift. He has given us patience and the ability to comfort others. We are called to be a follower of Christ and if we don’t do what He has modeled while He was here how can we be called a follower.

Application: I need to look at others through the eyes of God. He loves all of His creation and especially His children. If God puts someone in my path it’s for a purpose to guide me or to help them. Each day I must show others the love of Jesus no matter what the situation if I’m to be called one of his followers.

Prayer My Lord, you have granted me the ability to care for others, may I use that today on my walk. Be with me today and speak to your servant and command me to do your will. Help me help someone else today in your name.

We’ll Stand Before the Judgement Seat

Scripture Romans 14:10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Observation: I’ve always had a problem judging others. I felt so bad about myself that I would look for faults in others to make myself feel better. Even now with Jesus in my heart that old tendency is still with me and I can make harsh judgements. I need to know that I will be judged by God the day I stand before Him and need to show the compassion to others that I want Jesus to feel for me.

Application: I need to keep in mind that God created everyone and that they are His creation and to judge others is like judging God. I will never be perfect or even close but each day I can become better and one attribute is to be loving to others.

Prayer My Lord help me as I walk through this world. That I will be focused on You and your desire for this life. May I not take up any of the precious time You have given me judging anything, but fulfill the purpose you have given me.
