Doing Good

Scripture: Galatians 6: [10] Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Observation: I’m sitting here thinking about how many opportunities do I get to help others and how many of those opportunities do I take. The reason I don’t act on those opportunities is laziness and lack of concern. Even my brothers and sisters in Christ I don’t go out of my way to help. I’ll help when it’s convenient for me.

Application: I need to look for opportunities to help others and realize when I do, I’m serving Christ in the highest form. “As I do onto others I’m doing onto Christ.”

Prayer: My Lord use me to assist you in helping others. May I be your hands, feet and heart in this world.

Living by the Spirit

Scripture: Galatians 5: 16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Observation: Why do I have such a hard time living in the Spirit? God gives me a choice each day to live for Him or for me. It seems most of the time I still live for me. My focus is the things I want not the things God wants for me. I try each day to be obedient to God but has soon as I go out into the world, I seem to just blend in.

Application: I need to realize I wasn’t designed to be here for me but that I’m set apart for God’s purpose. I need to allow the Holy Spirit to take charge and have His way with me.

Prayer: Dear Lord take charge of this servant of yours. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and guide me each day.

No Longer a Slave

Scripture: Galatians 4: [7] So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

Observation: I have been a slave to sin most of my life and still act like it from time to time. My Lord freed me, yet old habits like pride and lack of faith make me a slave again. God has made me a son and I’ll inherit eternal life with my Father.

Application: I need to live my life as an heir and not a slave. Knowing whatever this world does I have an eternal home with my Father. It’s time to tell others of the freedom of Jesus.

Prayer: My Father, thank you for my freedom. Your child wants to please you this day. Guide me.

He Believed God

Scripture: Galatians 3: 6 Consider Abraham: “He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

Observation: God has told me in His Word to trust in Him, not to worry, be patient, serve others, love others, and more. If I believe I should do all these things. How do I expect to be righteous if my faith and believe is so weak?

Application: I need to start each day in the believe God is what He says He is, His Word is true and that I am what He says I am. I need to start acting and doing what my God says I should be doing.

Prayer: My Lord I believe, help my unbelief and guide your servant this day.

I’ve Been Crucified

Scripture: Galatians 2: [20] I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Observation: I should be living by faith since Christ lives in me. He has taken my sins and has made me acceptable to my Father. So why do I live in this flesh? Why do I have such a lack of faith and trust? I know Christ lives in me by the Holy Spirit, my life has changed so much and I do things I know I can’t do.

Application: I need to realize Christ saved me out of love and to fulfill a purpose. I need to wake up each morning thanking Him for all He has done and ask what He requires of me each day.

Prayer: My Lord thank you for removing my sins from me by your sacrifice. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and guide me this day.

God’s Gospel

Scripture: Galatians 1: 11 I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up.

Observation: I forget sometimes that everything in the Bible is there because God put it there. He directed men to write it and he orchestrated every word. For the Word of God is living and powerful.

Application: I need to be reading the Bible as if God was sitting next to me speaking to me. The Bible is directions from God to me on how to live my life. Every word is a word from God and I need to trust that with all of my heart.

Prayer: My Lord thank you for your word. May I read each day and obey everything in it.

Examining Myself

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 13: 5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you–unless, of course, you fail the test?

Observation: Sometimes I feel I’m acing the test, I pray in the morning, do my journal, read in the afternoon and go to church. Yet everyday my faith is weak, I worry about so many things, there are things of this world that I desire, I’m easy to criticize someone else. My lack of trust in itself would show I fail the test.

Application: I need to make a decision that Christ is who He says He is and His word is what it says it is and start living that way. Surrender to Christ and not this world and get busy for Him.

Prayer: My Lord, I freely give you this life as a living sacrifice may it be Holy and pleasing to you.
