Hear the Word of the Lord

Scripture Jeremiah 22:29 O earth, earth, earth,
Hear the word of the LORD!

Observation: I feel like screaming that. No one is listening we continue to do more and more evil and the word of the Lord is getting lost in this sinful world. Not only are they not listening but people are intentionally disobeying God’s commandments. People are rejecting the word of God and will have to pay the price of their disobedience.

Application: I need to do my part in what God has called me to do. A day can’t go by without me getting into His word and obeying what He has called me to do for that day. I need to be posting more things about God instead of the politics that I’ve been sharing.

Prayer Dear Lord I don’t know how You can forgive us for the evil we have done. Make your word known Lord and send me to do whatever pleases You. I love You Lord.

God’s Punishment is Coming

Scripture Jeremiah 21:14 But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings,” says the LORD;
“I will kindle a fire in its forest,
And it shall devour all things around it.

Observation: No one can say we don’t deserve the punishment of the Lord. This world has done so much evil and God is blasphemed as we are doing it. I feel it won’t be long until God’s patience wears out and he will burn this world with fire, according to His word, and all things will be devoured.

Application: I need to draw nearer to God and know His will for my life. This is not a time to be selfish, but a time to warn others of what is coming.

Prayer Dear Lord you are merciful and just. We deserve your judgement and are grateful for your love. Use me as you desire and allow me to touch the hearts of those you surround me with.

God’s Word is a Burning Fire

Scripture Jeremiah 20:9 Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him,
Nor speak anymore in His name.”
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire
Shut up in my bones;
I was weary of holding it back,
And I could not.

Observation: Jeremiah was suffering because he was telling everyone the bad news from the Lord and he was getting persecuted for it. He was to the point he didn’t want to say anything else in fear that the people would kill them, but God’s word was so strong in his heart he couldn’t hold it back. His purpose was to tell others about God’s judgement and God would help him succeed.

Application: I want God’s word to be a burning fire in my heart and being. I rarely get persecuted for doing God’s will and all that holds me back is my own conviction and laziness. God needs to come first in my life at all times and not just when it is convenient for me.

Prayer My Lord and my God, I need you to light that fire in my heart for your word. May I burn that others may see the light and feel the warmth of your presence. My only purpose is to serve You.

The Catastrophe of the Lord

Scripture Jeremiah 19:3 and say, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will bring such a catastrophe on this place, that whoever hears of it, his ears will tingle.

Observation: Jeremiah was prophesying about Israel, but those words can be true for America today. We have made false idols and blasphemed the name of the Lord and deserve His judgement. I know God is long suffering but He must be coming to the end of His patience for us. I know the end is coming and we deserve the catastrophe that will eventually come.

Application: I need to be ready when my Lord returns. He needs to find me busy doing His will and directing others to Him. This is no time to sit back and just wait but it’s time to fulfill God’s plan for my life.

Prayer Help me Lord for Your servant is weak. Please give me the strength to finish the good work You begun in me. Grant me success as I meet others in Your name.

We Are the Potter’s Vessel

Scripture Jeremiah 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.

Observation: The vessel I was before Jesus entered my life was marred and cracked. I could serve no purpose I was in such bad shape. Then Jesus came into my life and I was born again or made again. He repaired and reformed me into a vessel that He could use. I may not be a noble vessel, but I’m a vessel that can be used.

Application: I can’t put myself on the shelf, but be ready to serve. I was created by God to serve a purpose. Every morning and throughout the day I need to see how the Potter wants to use me. He continually makes some adjustment and fixes a crack or two and then I’m ready to be used.

Prayer My Lord thank you that you didn’t just toss this broken vessel away, but that you saw some use for me and repaired me to be used by You. Guide me on how you desire to use me today and direst my paths to glorify you.

The Lord Searches Our Heart

Scripture Jeremiah 17:10 I, the LORD, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Even to give every man according to his ways,
According to the fruit of his doings.

Observation: God searches our heart to see if there is any righteousness in us. He tells us in other scriptures that He doesn’t look at the outward appearance of man but his heart. The heart is our true self whether we are loving or hateful. Out of the mouth comes the wellspring of the heart. Fortunately, our heart can be changed by God He can test our mind through trials and give us a heart of flesh. We can change our ways and increase our fruit.

Application: My heart is evil. Whenever I’m not thinking of my Lord my mind wanders and turns to evil and I know this is a heart problem. I praise God, then want some of His children to suffer for what they have done. I need to change the source of my anger and hatred, my heart.

Prayer Please Lord take this heart of stone out of me and replace it with a heart of flesh. I want to be loving and kind, but that is not my nature, please change your servant to be the man you desire me to be.

Why Aren’t We Listening?

Scripture Jeremiah 16:12 And you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, each one follows the dictates of his own evil heart, so that no one listens to Me.

Observation: Each generation seems to fall farther from God. Our government and schools are removing Him completely and even the churches are preaching false doctrine. God has given us His word and commands but we are not listening, we are ignoring the only truth left in this world and we will pay the consequences.

Application: I need to stop focusing on all that is in this world. I have become engulfed with all of the evil around me and I’m allowing myself to go astray. I need to stop and listen for God’s guidance and stop being pulled into this world. I have a purpose that only God knows and need to listen every day for instructions.

Prayer My Lord forgive me for turning a deaf ear to You. You are the only one that has the way to life and I need to hear from You. Command your servant and guide me this day.
