Keep on Speaking

Scripture: Acts 18:9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision, “Do not be afraid, keep on speaking, do not be silent.

Observation: Keep on speaking, why is it so hard sometimes even to say “God Bless” instead of good bye. To show others I am a Christian instead of trying to blend in. His Word says do not be afraid. What am I afraid of? Do not be silent, I need to speak out if I don’t I disobey God’s Word.

Application: I need not to be afraid and to be bold when it comes to expressing my faith. I need to overcome possible embarrassment or rejections from others opposed to disappointing my God. To know every time, I speak out I’m praising God and being obedient.

Prayer: My Lord give me strength to speak out and not be silent but proclaim my love for you and others.

Reaching Out to God

Scripture: Acts 17:27 God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

Observation: God surrounds us with his glory and love. So, we can look and see the magnificence around us and wonder how could this be. Then search out and find the God, creator of all things. All we need to do is reach out and there He is always available to his creation and treating us as his children.

Application: I need to live my life with God by my side each day, knowing He sees and hears me. My actions need to be honoring to him and live in a way knowing God is in control.

Prayer: My Lord, I’m reaching out. Please take my hand and lead me through this day.

Praying in Front of Others

Scripture: Acts 16:25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the other prisoners were listening to them.

Observation: Paul and Silas were just beaten yet they were singing and praying. What I noticed in this scripture was in front of other prisoners and they were listening. What a great testimony to believe in Jesus to the point you can praise him in front of others at your worst times. Why is it so difficult for me to sing and praise even during good times.

Application: To pray and praise God in the presence of other people so that they may see the glory of God through me. To let others know no matter what they are going through God is always there.

Prayer: Dear Lord may I praise and worship you at all times so others may see your glory.

Saved by God’s Grace

Scripture: Acts 15:11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.

Observation: Jesus is the only way we are saved. It’s hard to believe we always want to be able to do something to get something. Jesus did it all there’s nothing left to do but believe and receive this precious gift. It’s for everyone and not up to us who will be saved.

Application: I need to start spreading the Word of God to others. God has given me one job to do, spread the gospel and I need to start getting busy and do it.

Prayer: My Lord thank you for your grace and saving this sinner. May this beggar go out and guide others to you.

He Had Faith to Be Healed

Scripture: Acts 14:9 He listened to Paul as he was speaking, Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed.

Observation: Paul saw that he had faith to be healed. I wonder if my faith shows to others and if I would be healed if I was sick. In my day-to-day life I see I lack faith or I wouldn’t worry so much and I would be more at peace.

Application: I need to have faith others can see. I need to look back on my life and see all that God has brought me through and have faith He will always be there.

Prayer: My Lord increase my faith so that others may see the reflections of your son in my life.

Appointed for Eternal Life

Scripture: Acts 13:48 When the Gentiles heard this they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

Observation: This scripture indicates all who were appointed. From the beginning God has appointed the ones that will be with him forever. Whenever I’m down or feeling bad about myself I need to remember that God has appointed me to be with Him for all eternity.

Application: Knowing God wants me with him should give me the desire to work for him and to fulfill my purpose to honor him. Appointed by God gives me strength to serve Him each day.

Prayer: My Lord, I thank you for your love and that you care for me so much that I’ve been appointed for eternal life. Guide me this day to glorify you.

Believing Prayers

Scripture: Acts 12:15 “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.”

Observation: All the wonders I see from answered prayers and I still try to explain them away. We pray that God will hear us and grant our request yet when prayer is answered we find it so hard to believe. This just shows my lack of faith that my prayers aren’t sincere, if I don’t believe God will answer.

Application: Pray expectantly knowing that my prayer is heard and answered. It may not be answered exactly the way I may want, but God will answer in His timing and in His way.

Prayer: My Lord I pray Knowing you hear me and love me.
