The Strength of our Testimony

Scripture: John 4:39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”

Observation: One of the gifts God gives us is our testimony to help others see the love of God. We are to use that gift telling others how God has changed our lives and our beliefs on eternal life and the love of our Savior.

Application: To take the opportunities to tell my testimony to others and explain how God healed me of my depression. This is my purpose in life to bring others to Christ and the tool I have to use is my testimony with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Dear Father I thank you for everything that has happened in my life whether good or bad because it brought me to you. Use this testimony to draw others to you and comfort them as you have comforted me and open their eyes to your Son.

He Must Be Greater

Scripture: John 3:[30] He must become greater; I must become less.

Observation: Jesus must first become greater in my life than I am. That greatness must be obvious to others so that they may see Jesus in my life, my light must shine. I have one job in this world and that is to introduce others to Jesus and I can only do that if He is great in my life.

Application: Whenever I begin to think of myself as being something more than I am I need to stop and look to Jesus for direction. I should be humble and if anything good is done in my life I need to point to Jesus and give Him the credit that is due Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord humble this servant and take charge of this life that you have given me and use it as you desire. You are so worthy may I show my love for you throughout the day and glorify you.

Saving the Best for Now

Scripture: John 2:[10] and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

Observation: My life was so empty before I received Jesus as my Lord and savior. My life seems to get better as I get older and grow closer to God. Jesus saved the best till last and I pray it even gets better. God has enriched my life and as given me purpose as my eyes continue to open up to his desires.

Application: To continue to follow my Lord and Savior and draw nearer to him. To make this life the best it can by being who God calls me to be. Read each day, pray, write and serve so I don’t miss anything God has in store for me.

Prayer: Dear Lord thank you for saving the best for last. I’m excited to see what is yet to come. Show me how to be obedient of your commands that I may enjoy all you have in store for me.

Children of God

Scripture: [12] Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God–

Observation: I am now I child of God. The creator of all things is my Father and because of the sacrifice of my Lord and Savior I get to spend eternity with him. If I was the child of a millionaire or famous actor or athlete I would boast to everyone I met who I was, but I’m so much more than that I’m a child of God.

Application: I should be bragging about my Dad, telling others how great and wonderful He is. To tell others the secret about being adopted as His and all the blessings attached to belonging to God. To tell others of his love, mercy and grace and to show them the way to eternal life with their Father.

Prayer: Dear Father I love you and thank you so much for your love. Place in me the desires of your heart and show me how to be a good son to you. I belong to you and always have, do with me as you wish. May I glorify you.

An Opened Mind

Scripture: Luke 24: 45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

Observation: That is what I should be praying for is an open mind. That God would give me understanding when I read His word and that my mind would not wonder, but be focused on understanding what is written.

Application: Instead of just reading words I should meditate on what I read. Asking God to give me an understanding what is written so I can apply it.

Prayer: Dear Lord open my eyes and heart to your Word. Give me an understanding to what you are saying to me so that I may live a life closer to you. I love you Lord and want to understand what it is you want of me.

Forgive Them

Scripture: Luke 23 [34] Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Observation: The “for they do not what they do,” is definitely me. I don’t think before I act and when I do think it is usually for my own desires and not what God wants from me. Yet he forgives me and blesses me anyway, but it’s time to live a life that glorifies Him and not me.

Application: It’s time I don’t take His forgiveness so lightly but honor him and thank him for his forgiveness. My Lord’s forgiveness came with a steep price, a price I couldn’t pay. I will never be able to repay, but I need to live a life pointing others to my Lord.

Prayer: Dear Lord thank you for paying the price for me and forgiving this sinner. Place in me the Holy Spirit so that I live this life the way you desire and not me.

Be Like the One Who Serves

Scripture: Luke 22:[26] But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.

Observation: To humble myself has been one of the more difficult things I had to do as a Christian, but God has been with me showing me the way. That was the opposite of my old ways and one of the things that brought me into depression. Now God is calling me to serve others and not myself and I’m finding my joy in that.

Application: To continue to find ways to serve God by serving others. Search out opportunities to serve and not just wait until one might come into my path. Be known as a servant among the people who know me.

Prayer: Dear Lord guide me on how to serve others in your name. To lead putting the needs of others above mine. Living a life that will glorify you. I love your Lord show me how to show you.
