Seeking Great Things for Ourselves

Scripture Jeremiah 45:5 And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh,” says the LORD. “But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go.

Observation: That is one of the biggest problems we want great things for ourselves. Our focus is on us and what we want, we don’t care for the needs of others if it interferes with taking away from our desires.

Application: I need to look for the needs of others above myself and stop spending most of my time seeking what I want. My desire should be to do God’s will and not to accumulate stuff that will only last for awhile. I have a short time here and God has blessed me above anything I deserve and I need to use it to glorify Him.

Prayer My Lord I know that I’m selfish and think about myself most of the time and I need you to reach down and open my heart to You and to others. Take this selfishness away and give me a generous heart for you.
