God’s Grace is Always Enough

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12: [9] But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Observation: I realize I don’t boast about my weakness, but hide it from others. I want to be thought well by others so I try to handle things in my own power, without realizing I have no power apart from God. When I fail, which is often, God always extends His grace in my life and pulls me out.

Application: I need to admit my weakness and when I do have the ability to do something good that it comes from God. Allow God to work through me to touch the lives of those around me. Show I can do all things only through Christ, who strengthens me.

Prayer: Dear Lord humble your servant and open my eyes to what you desire of me. May I be humble in front of others so that your power can be shown through your servant.

Depending on Weakness

Scripture: 2Corinthians 11:30 If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.

Observation: Lately I’ve been building myself up, depending on my skills at work and talking more lowly about my supervisors and clients. I feel I’ve been doing my job for a long time and have so much knowledge why should I listen to them? Perhaps that is why God has me here to humble me and for me to realize all I have, including my skills and knowledge come from Him. I pray each day that God will open a door for a new job, but maybe I haven’t learned what God is trying to show me that I’m not strong at work, but weak and need Him.

Application: I need to admit I’m weak in all things. If I feel I’m strong in something I need to realize where that strength comes from. I need to avoid my pride and depend on God to get me through and then listen to the lesson He is teaching me.

Prayer: Dear Father, your child is disobedient at times and I need to feel your embrace and correction so that I may live this life in glory and honor to you.

Containing Our Pride

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10 [17] But, “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Observation: Before Christ I was always trying to find something that made me look important to the world. Even though the Lord has softened my heart I still have a prideful spirit. Even when I do work for the Lord instead of making sure He gets all the glory I still keep back some for myself. I want people to see me as spiritual instead of seeing my God as the only reason I exist.

Application: To do more for the glory of God and to make sure He gets All of the glory. That whatever I do for anyone points to my Lord and Savior and not this sinner.

Prayer: Dear Lord forgive me a sinner. May I live a life that points others to you. Please give me strength and wisdom to honor you through the deeds You have me do.

Service That Proves Our Love

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9: [13] Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

Observation: I just saw this scripture and it seems so perfect for what we are trying to accomplish through the CIA ministry (Christians In Action). That men will see what we do in glory and honor to God and that will draw them closer to hear the gospel.

Application: I need to persevere doing the CIA ministry and assisting in wherever I can to make it a reality in the church. Making sure everyone knows the end result is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and not only to do good deeds.

Prayer: Dear Lord guide me and give me wisdom and strength to fulfill the purpose you have created me for. Bless the CIA ministry and may it glorify you and point others to You

How Far Will I Go To Do What is Right

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 8 [21] For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.

Observation: Since I’ve been born again I strive to do what is right in God’s eyes. So often however I fail and come up short, but I know when I do. How often do I do what is right in the eyes of men? My actions are my testimony of my Lord to others. If they’re righteous they will draw others near to Him, but if not then I’m a hypocrite and my words mean nothing.

Application: I need to take great pains to do what is right and honoring to God and show others that I belong to Him and how He has changed my heart. I need to be the man that others can look to and not find fault and may see glimpses of Jesus in my character.

Prayer: Dear Lord guide your servant. There is no good in me unless you place it there. Show me how to be a light in this world to direct others to you.

What Kind of Sorrow Do I Have?

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 7 [10] Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Observation: Seems so often I feel sorry about something, but normally it is something in the world, whether I’m sorry I got caught or the consequences of my act caused me harm. I will feel sorry for what I said or did but don’t repent and so often will do it again.

Application: There are things that I do and will do, because I am a sinner, but my sorrow should be that I hurt God or others by my action. If I say something that hurts someone I must repent and go to that person and apologize and then apologize to God and ask Him to help me not to do it again.

Prayer: Dear Lord this sinner needs you to guide my life. I want to be a light in this world as long as you have me here. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and show me how to live this life in glory to you.

Why Don’t I Confide in my Father?

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6: 18 “I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”

Observation: All through the Bible God is called my Father, so why don’t I talk to Him as a loving Father. He has given me everything and asks very little in return. He has never let me down, yet I don’t trust that He cares. I pray to Him but I don’t talk or listen. I’m anxious as if everything depends on me, even though He is always there next to me, loving me. He protects me from everything yet I’m still afraid. My Father has always been faithful, it’s me that can’t be trusted.

Application: Realize God has a plan for me and He is with me every step of the way. Nothing can happen to me without my Father allowing it to be and He loves me so it will always be for my own good. Realize I’m not living this life alone, but I have a loving Heavenly Father with me every step of the way.

Prayer: Dear Father forgive me for my lack of faith and the fear I carry with me all the time. Open my eyes to realize you love me and you are always with me. Guide me through this life that I will fulfill the purpose you have created me for.
