Faith Pleases God

Scripture Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Observation: That is a rough statement if you don’t have faith. Faith doesn’t automatically come when we are saved it’s a gift that needs to be worked on each day of our life. Faith is the believe of things that we don’t see but excess because God tells us they do. The apostles ask Jesus to increase their faith and that should be our prayer. Your faith should be greater today than yesterday and the longer we walk with our Lord the stronger it will become.

Application: I need to walk by faith knowing what I’m doing pleases God. Not to get ahead of myself but to be patient and wait to see what God is doing through my life and know whatever is happening is from God.

Prayer My Lord thank you for another day to please you. Please increase my faith as I walk through this life and that I may know the things that I see are from you.

His Laws Are on My Heart and Mind

Scripture Hebrews 10:16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,”

Observation: This is so true if I think of doing anything against God’s will He makes it clear to me not to. I know what is right and wrong according to God’s word, yet I still have a choice. After walking with my Lord for so long I don’t want to go against his law, but be obedient in all that He commands. I can’t make the excuse anymore that I didn’t know.

Application: To always start my day in prayer and ask for the knowledge and wisdom to do what is right and pleasing to Him. Before making a decision pray and make sure it is in God’s will and not mine.

Prayer Dear Lord give me the knowledge and wisdom I will Need to do what is of you. Continue to put on my heart and mind the things that will honor You.

Promise of the Eternal Inheritance

Scripture Hebrews 9:15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Observation: Jesus died for us that we may have eternal life, and an inheritance with Him. He didn’t have to do it but because of His love for us He laid down his life. We shouldn’t be so focused on what is happening in this evil world, but our minds should be set on our eternal home and the desire to bring as many as we can to that home.

Application: Always be grateful for Christ’s sacrifice for me and share that gratitude with others. Help spread the word of the gospel so others may know of the eternal inheritance that is waiting for them.

Prayer My Lord thank you for your sacrifice may it always be first in my heart. Use me as you desire to tell others about what is waiting for them when they give their heart to You. May my love for you show through to others.

God’s Laws on My Mind and Heart

Scripture Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Observation: Before Christ was in my life I knew nothing about God and what He desired of me. I then got into His word and it opened my mind and heart to His desires. They sunk down into my heart and kept them in my thoughts as I read and study. God uses me each day to recall his word to help others and to strengthen me. God never breaks a promise and fulfills His will in our lives.

Application: To continue each day to be in God’s word and prayer. To learn more about God’s desire for me and to be obedient to his calling on my life. I’m one of God’s people and I need to live that way and to help others be part of His family.

Prayer Good Morning Lord continue to teach me your word and place it in my heart that I will never forget. Strengthen my mind that I would have wisdom to use your word to help others. I look forward to spending the day with you.

Tithing to the King

Scripture Hebrews 7:2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,”

Observation: People say they don’t mention tithing in the New Testament, but here it is. Abraham gave a tenth to Melchizedek who it says is Jesus. So according to Hebrews we are called to give to Jesus a tithe. How do we give Jesus a tithe? In the gospel Jesus states whomever gives to the least of these brothers is doing unto Him. Each person should give as their heart guides them.

Application: I feel God is calling me to give to those who needs it most in this world. I give to an organization that is trying to stop child trafficking, a Rescue Mission and a ministry that goes throughout the world helping to feed those that are starving.

Prayer My Lord all that I have is yours. Guide me on how you want me to use the blessing you’ve given me to bless others. The most important thing I have is the time you have given me may I use it to glorify you.

Receiving Blessings from God

Scripture Hebrews 6:7 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God;

Observation: God continues to bless me and watch over me. I want to make sure this field He is cultivating bear much for the kingdom. My greatest blessings have always been when I’m in God’s will, whether praying for others, an outreach, helping someone or just using the gifts He has given me to honor him and others.

Application: I should be addicted to do God’s will after all He has done for me. Now that I’m retired, I can use even more time honoring God with my time. The more I do the better I understand what I should be doing. He is with me each day and I want to continue to grow close to Him.

Prayer My Lord thank you for each opportunity you have given me to fulfill the purpose you created me for. Continue to give me opportunities to use all that you have given me for your glory.

Jesus the Author of Eternal Life

Scripture Hebrews 5:9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

Observation: Jesus suffered for me to give me eternal life and I owe him everything. He has given me his word and instructions and I have a choice whether to follow them or not, but how can you disobey someone who gave you everything? His commands are only for our good and an opportunity to draw close to God.

Application: I need to make it my top priority each day to be obedient to my Lord’s calling. Each day I spend time with Him in prayer and with others as He guides me on the path He chose for me. My Lord deserves all the credit for any good that I can do and my complete obedience each day.

Prayer My Lord, I love you so much and I’m grateful for all you do for me. I thank you that I will be with you one day and will be able to thank you in person. Continue to direct me each day in what pleases you.
