Set Apart for God

Scripture Leviticus 21: [6] They must be holy to their God and must not profane the name of their God. Because they present the offerings made to the LORD by fire, the food of their God, they are to be holy.

Observation: This scripture talks about the qualifications to be a priest in the temple. They must be holy, set apart, and there are things they are to do and things that they aren’t to be holy. We may not be priest, but we are set apart for service to our God. We are to never profane the name of God and our bodies are to be living sacrifices, Holy and pleasing to God, this is our spiritual act of worship.

Application: I have things that I should be doing and also things that I shouldn’t be, to be holy. My life can’t profane God’s name, but it should left Him up with how I treat others and the things that I do. I need to be that living sacrifice leading others to my Lord and savior. I need to rid myself of this anger and I need the Holy Spirit to fill me so that I may love others the way God wants me to love.

Prayer: Dear Lord you are worthy of all of my love, praise and obedience. Help me serve you in a way that is honoring to you. Humble your servant to serve others and put their needs above mine.

I Need to Love My Neighbor

Scripture Leviticus 19:18 ” `Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

Observation: I have such a hard time with this command. I’m very judgmental and have an opinion for everyone and I’m the king of grudge holding. Even now I can’t forgive Blair and the way he treats his sister, my wife. I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t have a negative thought towards him and hope only the worst. When left alone with my thoughts they are always negative and my neighbor behind me and across the street I wish would go away.

Application: If I would spend more time loving instead of planning revenge I could be a godly man. Instead my heart is hard towards so many people and they probably don’t even know it. I need to turn to Jesus every time my heart grows cold and evil and ask for forgiveness and guidance on what I should be doing. I need to remember how much God loves me and what I really deserve and not what He gives me each day.

Prayer: My Lord soften this hard heart and show me how to love my neighbor no matter what they do to me. Give me a spirit of love like your Son and that people will see this loving spirit and be drawn closer to you.

Am I living By God’s Laws?

Scripture Leviticus 18: [5] Keep my decrees and laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them. I am the LORD.

Observation: First I need to know God’s laws and decrees and I can’t plead innocent on that because God has shown them to be through His word. Now that I know God’s laws am I obeying them, all of them? I seem to obey more when it’s convenient but not all of the time and to obey only part of the time is disobeying. Obeying God’s laws should be a way of life and not a practice. From the time I get up and by the time I go to bed it should be automatic that I’m walking with God and being obedient to Him. That should be my way of life.

Application: I must continue each day to be in God’s word and gain knowledge of what God desires of me. Then I need to change my lifestyle so it is not a struggle to obey God but just second nature, because I want my Lord to be pleased. He is my Lord and I have no rights, but only a desire to serve Him and that’s the way it should be.

Prayer: My Lord and my God continue to put your word in my heart and that I would embrace it always and be a doer of your word and not only a hearer. You deserve the best I have each day every day, give me wisdom and strength to live a rewarding life for you.

The Bible Tells Us About Science

Scripture Leviticus 17: [14] because the life of every creature is its blood. That is why I have said to the Israelites, “You must not eat the blood of any creature, because the life of every creature is its blood; anyone who eats it must be cut off.”

Observation: There are different passages in the Bible that tells us something about the truth of science. I don’t remember the date but in the 1800’s it was discovered that life is in the blood and here thousands of years before that God tells us that fact. Besides prophesies God gives us pieces of proof on how true His word is. The Bible tells us that the earth is round in Isaiah and I heard the account where someone drilled for oil because of the account in Sodom and Gomorrah where when the fire fell from the heavens the ground smoked. God doesn’t have to but He wants all to trust His word and He continues to prove it.

Application: I need to study more closely the word of God and put it in my heart that I may use it each day. That when opportunities come that I can tell those who don’t believe the proof that God has placed in the pages to help them understand how faithful God is.

Prayer: My Lord plant within me your word that I will know and use it. That I will use it to grow closer to you and use it to bring your children home to you. Help me be better prepared to tell others about how wonderful you are.

Jesus my Scapegoat

Scripture Leviticus 16: [22] The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a solitary place; and the man shall release it in the desert.

Observation: Jesus is my Lord, God and Savior, but He also humbled himself to be my scapegoat. He carried my sins away so that my Heavenly Father couldn’t see them through Him. But He wasn’t only my scapegoat He also was the sacrifice for my sins. He sacrificed His life for my sins and then He carried them away, He has done everything for me, but what have I done for Him.

Application: I don’t think of Jesus’ sacrifice very much and yet the only reason I’m going to heaven instead of Hell is because of His love for me. What a sacrificial love He has for us, but what do I give back? I know there is nothing I can do to repay His sacrifice, but there are things I should do to show Him I love Him All I have is this life here on earth to show how much I love Him and lately I haven’t been doing a good job of it. I need to focus more on my Lord and less of the things of this world and give the time He has blessed me with back in service to Him.

Prayer: My Lord thank you for all you have done for me and all that you do each day. Help me keep my mind and heart on the things that honor you and give me courage and strength to use this precious time you have given me to draw others to you. I love you Lord help me show it to the people you put in my path and to you.

We were Unclean before Jesus

Scripture Leviticus 15:8 ” `If the man with the discharge spits on someone who is clean, that person must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening.

Observation: In Leviticus it tells us all the things that can make us unclean and what they needed to do to become clean again. This world we live in can make us unclean with all the sin that surrounds us. Before Jesus there wouldn’t been enough cattle to sacrifice to make me clean of my sins. Jesus made me clean with His sacrifice on the cross and even though I make myself unclean by the things I do each day He is there to clean me up.

Application: I need to keep that in my heart, the sacrifice Jesus made for me and not take it for granted. It’s so easy to fall in the trap knowing that Jesus will lift us up out of it. My Lord needs to be honored by what I do each day, because He deserves everything that I have and am. When I make myself unclean I need to go to Him and thank Him for His love and protection and make every effort not to do it again.

Prayer: My Lord forgive this unclean servant of yours. I need you guidance to stay on the path of righteousness that you desire me to be on. Make me clean and aware of your presence so that I will stay focused on you and not fall back to my unclean ways. Thank You Lord.

I’m Cleansed Because of My Lord

Scripture Leviticus 14: [7] Seven times he shall sprinkle the one to be cleansed of the infectious disease and pronounce him clean. Then he is to release the live bird in the open fields.

Observation: In this chapter it tells how you are to take two birds and kill one dip the other one in the blood and release it. I’m the live bird only because I was dipped in the blood of Jesus. Jesus made the sacrifice for me so that I may be set free from sin and be able to enter my new eternal home when it’s time to leave this place. All through Leviticus it tells what you need to sacrifice for the different sins that we commit and it’s impossible to do all of them all of the time and God knew that. He made the sacrifice so that we could be holy to Him.

Application: I need never forget about the sacrifice that Jesus made for me. Each day I live only because of what Jesus did for me on the cross and all He asks that I tell others. that His sacrifice is for everyone, not just me. Any time I sin I need to stop and ask for forgiveness and remember what Jesus did so that I may be forgiven.

Prayer: Dear Lord I can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done for me, both in my life now and the room you are preparing for me. I’m only here because you desire it so, help me live this life to bring a smile to your face and joy in your heart. I love you and want to glorify you.
