Faithful with Our Tithe

Scripture Leviticus 27:30 ” `A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.

Observation: God owns everything and it is only on loan to us. God asks only a tenth back as an offering and for most of us that is very difficult to do. I’ve heard people that are financially strapped that they cannot afford to give God the tithe owed to Him and that will be their mistake. Our God doesn’t need anything from us, only our obedience. He knows are sinful ways and knows that it is difficult for us to give up anything, but He is ready to bless us when we are obedient to Him. He is owed a tithe on everything and that includes our most precious gift, time and I know from my past experiences God is faithful to His word and boy can He bless.

Application: I need to always be faithful to give back what God commands me to and more. It shouldn’t just stop with my tithe, but I need to be more generous with all the Lord has given me and especially my time.

Prayer: My Lord soften my heart and give me a generous spirit. Show me that this all belongs to you and that there is nothing that belongs to me so that I may give more freely. Show me how to bless others with what you have blessed me with.

If We Would Just Obey

Scripture Leviticus 26:6 ” `I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove savage beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country.

Observation: I think how this country was founded, under God’s principles and love. Here is a nation only 250 years old and we were the mightiest in the world, because God allowed it to be. Our Constitution was founded under biblical principles and scriptures and we prospered more than any other country in the world. God kept His promise and blessed us beyond measure, but now we have turned our backs and we are paying the price of our disobedience. We have become a sinful, sexually immoral, and fowl place full of greed and hate.

Application: I need to look for ways to tell others, especially our children God’s place in this country and in our hearts. The world keeps trying to throw God out and we need to keep Him close. I need to pray and do what I can to keep God a part of the world that surrounds me and ask Him to come back. Explain His commands and obey them that we may draw nearer to Him.

Prayer: My Lord I’m asking for forgiveness yet we don’t deserve any. This country has not only been disobedient, but we have tried to throw you out of this place you blessed us with. Show me what part I can play in returning your people back to you and may I lead by example. I love you Lord show me what to do.

Don’t Take Advantage of Others

Scripture Leviticus 25: [17] Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I am the LORD your God.

Observation: This world is made up of people taking advantage of other people. There are so many scams to take money from others. Even in the church I see people taking advantage of others. We have become such a sinful generation of people and we don’t only not fear God we ignore Him completely. Our society is designed to put God on the shelf and get the most you can from this world no matter what it takes.

Application: I need to be extra careful on how I deal with others so that I don’t fit into this world. I need to be kind and generous and stand out from the norm of the world. I need to be different in a good way so that others may see the love of God in me and not just another person bent on taking advantage of them. I can’t fit the world’s mold, but be transformed into the image of Christ.

Prayer: My Lord help me not fit in this world, but be a light to direct others to you. I don’t know how you stand looking at this sinful world without ending it, but I know you don’t want none to perish. May I only be focused on what you desire of me and that I will complete the race you have put me in, in glory and honor to your name.

An Eye for an Eye

Scripture Leviticus 24: [20] fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. As he has injured the other, so he is to be injured.

Observation: It’s seems only right that people should get the same punishment as they inflicted on someone else and I feel it is something that God has put on our heart. Today the news is filled with so many horrid things that people do to others. Just recently on the news a man kidnapped 3 girls and held them in captivity for more than 10 years raping and abusing them. Death does not even sound just because of the torture these girls endured for so long. It is not that I want revenge, since I don’t know any of these people on the news, but it seems only right and because we don’t give these offenses the proper punishment they continue to multiply.

Application: I don’t feel my feeling are unjust for these crimes or that I’m an extremist, but that God’s heart is speaking to me. There is so much hatred in this world because of the way we treat each others. I need to act as if I was going to do anything evil to anyone else that that evil would be done to me. Do onto others as if you want to be done to you. I need to treat others in that manner.

Prayer: My Lord it must be so hard for you to look at this fallen world and see all the evil that is in it. Help us be better people for you and give out the justice that would honor you. We are evil people and we need your guidance on how to live a godly life in your name. Place on my heart what you would have me do. Your servant.

Too Busy to Stop

Scripture Leviticus 23:3 ” `There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD.

Observation: I don’t mind to stop working as far as my job goes, but when it is my day off I have things I want to do. There is work around the house, places to go, grandchildren sporting events to attend and to sit down I feel guilty. The Sabbath is for us so that we will stop all of our busyness and relax and call on God. It’s a time that we can sit still long enough to listen to what our Lord has to say to us. Our God does not shout remember He used a still small whisper.

Application: When I stop I find myself preoccupying my mind with television or a movie. I need to stop and pray then listen. To spend time at my master’s feet and listen quietly to what He tells me. To take time on my Sabbath to worship Him with my obedience of stillness and wait to hear His directions for my life.

Prayer: My Lord and my Master speak to me so that I may know what you want of me. Help me be still before you and listen for that whisper in my heart. May I relax knowing that you are in control of my life.

Why Keep God’s Commands?

Scripture Leviticus 22:31 “Keep my commands and follow them. I am the LORD.

Observation: I think this scriptures says it clearly why we should follow God’s command, because He is God. He is our Lord, creator, savior and we are only here because of His desire not ours. His is the only commands that we should keep and follow and if there are any other commands that contradict His, God’s commands should always over rule those. I believe the home my Lord is building for me will be decorated by my obedience.

Application: I need to know all of God’s commands and read his word each day. I not only have to keep God’s command close to my heart, I also need to follow them each day. I know I can’t do this alone and I will only succeed with the help of the Holy Spirit and I need to make myself open to all He desires me to do. I’m here as a servant and will remain one forever, so I need to be the best servant I can be and be obedient to my master.

Prayer: Dear Lord fill me with the Holy Spirit and speak to me each day. Take all the distractions away so that I may hear clearly your directions and that I will follow them each day. I love you and you deserve my very best.

Set Apart for God

Scripture Leviticus 21: [6] They must be holy to their God and must not profane the name of their God. Because they present the offerings made to the LORD by fire, the food of their God, they are to be holy.

Observation: This scripture talks about the qualifications to be a priest in the temple. They must be holy, set apart, and there are things they are to do and things that they aren’t to be holy. We may not be priest, but we are set apart for service to our God. We are to never profane the name of God and our bodies are to be living sacrifices, Holy and pleasing to God, this is our spiritual act of worship.

Application: I have things that I should be doing and also things that I shouldn’t be, to be holy. My life can’t profane God’s name, but it should left Him up with how I treat others and the things that I do. I need to be that living sacrifice leading others to my Lord and savior. I need to rid myself of this anger and I need the Holy Spirit to fill me so that I may love others the way God wants me to love.

Prayer: Dear Lord you are worthy of all of my love, praise and obedience. Help me serve you in a way that is honoring to you. Humble your servant to serve others and put their needs above mine.
