Here I Am To Do Your Will

Scripture: Hebrews 10:7 Then I said, `Here I am–it is written about me in the scroll–
I have come to do your will, O God.’ ”

Observation: To be like Jesus is my aim in life. Jesus came to earth to do the Father’s will and no matter what the obstacles He would not be led astray from fulfilling His goal. My goal is the same to do the will of the Father, however I can’t do it on my own. I’m easily swayed and put myself and interest above all instead of the purpose God has created me for.

Application: So what do I do? I model my Lord and ask for Him to guide me through this life and give me the strength and wisdom to fulfill the purpose I was created for. I must be in prayer and always in the word so I know what I need to do when a situation arises. I need to find comfort and wisdom in my Lord when I need to fight temptation. I’m not alone, but I need to ask for the help that I need, which is a constant request.

Prayer: Dear Lord I need you, I can’t live this life without you and I don’t want to. Take charge of your servant and command me on what I should do each day. Help me not stray to the right or the left but stay on course until the end of this journey.

Jesus Cleansed My Conscience

Scripture: Hebrews 9: [14] How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Observation: I always thought I was a terrible person and all I thought about was all the wrong I did. I’m a better person now, but far from perfect. I’m still a sinner yet my Lord has forgiven me and has given me peace. I catch myself right away now when I do something wrong and ask for forgiveness most of the time. With God’s forgiveness and love I can now love the person God has created in me.

Application: Know that I’m a child of God because Jesus sacrificed himself for me. No matter how bad I might feel about myself I need to stand back and see that I belong to God and allow him to take any burdens from me so that I might draw closer to Him.

Prayer: My Lord thank you for your sacrifice and draw me closer to you. Give me peace and take away this anger that builds up within me and show me how to use my conscience to your glory.

God Writes on My Heart

Scripture: Hebrews 8:10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.

Observation: God has put His laws on my mind, I have no excuse not to know what is right and what is wrong. Since I’ve been reading the Bible now fourteen years, I know what God’s word says and what He expects of me, for me not to obey is disobedience and I can’t plead ignorance. I may not be Israel, but I am one of God’s people.

Application: I need to continue to study God’s word, pray and learn more about God’s desires for me. When I start each day I need to put it before God in prayer asking for His guidance and direction in my life.

Prayer: My Lord continue to place your desires on my mind and heart and that I would be obedient to all you call me to do. I’m here as your servant, may I always be obedient and willing to serve.

My Lord is Perfect

Scripture: Hebrews 7: [28] For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

Observation: All men are weak, including myself, but I serve a master who is perfect. There was no sin in Him and yet He died for my sins. He thought I was worth dying for and He gave His Son so I can be with Him forever. In this world that type of a sacrifice would not make sense, in fact it would be crazy, but my master loves his creation and protects it and me. So how do I pay back such a wonderful Lord, what can I do to please Him?

Application: I know I can never repay the gift God has given me, but I would like to show my gratitude for His sacrifice. God has given me a way to live this life that would please Him and He calls me to tell others of his incredible love for them. After all my Lord has done for me and is still doing, what a small gesture to show how much I love Him.

Prayer: My Lord and my Master help me bear fruit for your glory. Show me how to live a holy life that would honor you. Open doors and my eyes for the things that will glorify you. Help me stay on the path of your righteousness and guide me home.

Stop Being Lazy!!

Scripture: Hebrews 6: [12] We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

Observation: That is my prayer each day that God would take this laziness away and make me useful. Of course laziness is a decision that I make and with a little will power I could overcome it. Now the others I’m to be imitating have already overcome laziness and have their heart focused on God and His will.

Application: I need to make decisions to get off my butt and get moving serving my Lord. I need to start imitating those who are honoring God with their lives and step out in faith to make a difference for the people God surrounds me with.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me please. I don’t want to be useless, but useful to You. Help wake me up and get me going in the right direction. Surround me with those who serve you in a way that pleases you and help me do the same.

To Be Like Jesus

Scripture: Hebrews 5:[8] Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered

Observation: All through God’s word we see all the things Jesus did and how He did them and we are amazed, yet we are called to be like Jesus. How can I be like Jesus? God doesn’t expect us to accomplish all things, but that is what we are to strive for in this world. The one thing we are all called to do is to obey God’s will. There are no excuses written in the Bible and each day we are called to ask for guidance as Jesus did.

Application: So instead of getting down when we suffer we need to be like Jesus, and obey God and instead of asking God why me, we need to say Dear Lord what do you desire. WWJD needs to be my life’s mission. If there is a time of any doubt what that might be all I need to do is read the word and pray for guidance.

Prayer: My Lord may I imitate you in this life. That no matter what happens I seek your face for guidance and be obedient to all you call me to do. That I will finish this race as you did with my head held high, knowing I live it for my Father.

Hand Me My Sword

Scripture: Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Observation: Reading the Bible has changed my life and has given it direction and when I use it I can feel it’s power. It’s amazing how something written so long ago is so relative today. It seems as if people have changed over thousands of years, why would we still commit the same sins. It opens my eyes on how I act and when I sin. The Bible gives me a place to turn and to ask God for guidance and he shows me what to do when I read it.

Application: Continue to read every day and to do my journal. To truly study the word and put it into action every day. Use it so I may hear God’s direction for my life and then obey it and do what God calls me to do each day.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for your word and your mercy and grace. Speak to me through your word and tell me what to do. Convict me of my sins and help me be obedient to you
