My Lord Preserves Me

Scripture Psalms 121:8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Observation: If I follow my God, He will preserve me, but I need to be near to Him. I don’t need to be wondering out of His will but to stay close to Him. I know God looks over me otherwise I wouldn’t be here now, He has preserved me for this time in this place and I need to know what His direction is for my life.

Application: I need to stay in His word and to take to heart all He desires of me. I must be obedient and be in my Lord’s will. I know He will protect me now and forever. I can’t wait to get home and be with Him for all eternity.

Prayer: My Lord draw me close to You. Open my eyes in all you desire of this life you have created. Preserve and guide me always and that a day doesn’t go by that I don’t please You.

Surrounded by Lies

Scripture Psalms 120:2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips And from a deceitful tongue.

Observation: When I counsel people, I tell them that the Bible doesn’t tell us to trust anyone except God. We are surrounded by sinners and that includes ourselves. We hear so many lies in a day it gets harder to find the truth. However, to find truth it’s as easy as getting out our Bible and searching there, that’s the only truth we need. We are only called to love our brother or sister no matter what.

Application: I need to work harder to be an honest person. I need to seek the truth in my Lord’s word and then speak that truth to others. I need to stop getting angry when someone lies to me, but no matter what show that person the love of God and trust only in Him.

Prayer: My Lord I’m that deceitful tongue help me tame it and speak only your truth. Calm my anger that I will speak love to others and tell them of your unfailing love. Help me fulfill the purpose you have created me for. I love you Lord.

Stop Me from Looking

Scripture Psalms 119:37 Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way.

Observation: Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible and this is the verse that hit my heart, because this is me. I look and think of the worthless things that surrounds me and when I’m looking at these things, I’m not seeing God and what His desires are for me. I need God to revive me or slap me upside the head so that I may see what He has in store for me. This is a continuous problem for me and I can’t do it alone I need God to intervene in my life and put me on the path to His ways, not mine.

Application: You get what you focus on and I need to focus on God and His word. That needs to be my main focus in my life and I need to do what my Lord commands me to do. Enough at looking at worthless things and it’s time to see what God has put before me and do His will.

Prayer: My Lord help me please. I freely give you this life as a living sacrifice may it be holy and pleasing to you. Open my eyes and heart to your ways and speak to me and use me to glorify your name. I love you and I want to do better.

Rejoice Today

Scripture Psalms 118:24 This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Observation: That is something I don’t do is rejoice in the day. I wake up in the morning wishing I didn’t have to get up and face another day. Most of my thoughts are negative thinking that things aren’t going to work out very well and I’m ready to be miserable. It never dawned on me that this is God’s Day and he delights in me and wants me to enjoy it.

Application: I need to get up in a positive way and look forward to see what God has planned for the day. I should live this life for God and not for me I’m His creation and this is His day. May I be glad that I have the opportunity to be here with my Lord.

Prayer: Dear Lord forgive me for my negative thoughts and help me see your day every day. May I live with anticipation to see what you have planned for me. I love you, help me to do better.

Praise the Lord

Scripture Psalms 117:1 Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!

Observation: I had to look up Laud and it means praise or extol someone for the achievements. Everyone is called to praise Him and not from time to time, but always. God deserves are highest praise, because of who He is. He is the creator of all things, which include us. If we spent more time praising Him we would have less time worrying about things that don’t matter and we would be able to trust Him fully.

Application: I need to wake up in the morning praising my Lord and not complaining which is what I normally do. I need to praise Him in public and show my devotion to Him constantly. My Lord is worthy of my praise, love, worship and obedience. May I give it each day in glory and honor to Him.

Prayer: My Lord help me show you the praise you deserve from me. I fall short every day and I want to glorify you in all that I do. I do love you and I want to live a life that pleases you.

When I Was Low

Scripture Psalms 116:6 The LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me.

Observation: When I read this the first thing came to mind when God saved me. I was on a beach attempting to end my life. The first time I prayed was that day and all I asked that this would be it, no heaven or hell just to stop existing. I don’t think there was anyone simpler than me. My first an unanswered prayer, but He guided me and saved me not only from death, but gave me a life worth living for Him.

Application: I’ll never forget how God saved me that day and saved me for all of eternity. I owe my Lord everything and there is nothing I can do to pay Him back. He deserves all of my love, praise, obedience and time. I need to work every day to do my best to give that to Him.

Prayer: My Lord thank you for not answering that prayer that day. Thank you for saving me at my lowest point and stood me up and opened my eyes. Guide me each day to do what pleases you. I Love you, Lord.

Our Father in Heaven

Scripture Psalms 115:3 But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.

Observation: God is the creator of all things and he is in heaven watching over His creation. He can do whatever He pleases and we should never question what happens around us that He allows. Our God is loving and caring and has created us for a purpose. We should always seek His will before doing anything.

Application: I need to stop complaining about things and open my eyes to see what God wants me to see. Things happen for a reason and instead of trying to figure things out on my own I need to seek God for wisdom to do what He desires of me. This is not my home and one day I will be with my Lord in heaven where He rules and should be ruling my life here.

Prayer: My Lord open my eyes and heart to your desires and speak to me. You are all powerful and I’m simply your servant. Command me in what you want of me and that I will be faithful and do all you command me to do.
