Scripture: Acts 7:60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.

Observation: Here Stephen is being stoned to death and his last words are the same as Jesus. Forgive them Father. Why is it I have a difficult time forgiving others or forgetting how they might have wronged or upset me in some way. Because my focus is on me and not what God wants. How it must have honored God to hear those words of Stephen, when he fell asleep he was there in God’s arms.

Application: To be more focused on what pleases God and to realize each person is a child of God. Then realize how much God has forgiven me.

Prayer: My Lord fill me with the Holy Spirit and give me the forgiving heart of your Son.

Scripture: Acts 6:10 but they could not stand up against his wisdom or the spirit by whom he spoke.

Observation: I think of the time Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons have come to my door. Sometimes God would put the words in my mouth and scriptures on my heart. I need to continue to read the Word and to build up wisdom for those times so the Holy Spirit speaks those words when needed. I need to be obedient by reading and meditating on the Word of God so I may witness by the Spirit of God.

Application: To meditate and memorize scripture and to pray for God’s wisdom. To boldly share the gospel and to reach out to the lost.

Prayer: Dear Lord fill me with the Holy Spirit so I can share your Word with those you put on my path.

Scripture: Acts 5:41 The apostles left the Sanhedrin rejoicing, because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.

Observation: I should want to be worthy, but why am I so afraid to suffer? I’m afraid to even be embarrassed proclaiming Jesus to others. My faith is still so weak I need to be strengthened because I do not want to be counted unworthy by God.

Application: Get my priorities in line putting God first. If I understand my purpose and I’m driven by what I need to do I will accomplish my purpose. My goal is to spread the gospel and any indication that I am accomplishing my goal, including suffering, I should rejoice.

Prayer: Dear Lord fill me with the Holy Spirit and guide this servant to be worthy of suffering for your name.

Scripture: Acts 4:31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the Word of God boldly.

Observation: There are so many times I get to speak the Word of God boldly and I don’t. Today at work a customer used Jesus’ name in vain and I didn’t say anything. I didn’t speak up boldly for God even though my heart I know I should have.

Application: to ask God to fill me with the Holy Spirit each day and look for opportunities to speak out boldly in God’s name in this world. To fulfill the mission God has given me by witnessing to others.

Prayer: Dear Lord fill me with the Holy Spirit and touch my heart and tongue that I will speak out boldly for you today.

Scripture: Acts 3:8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping and praising God.

Observation: God has done so many miracles in my life, but do I jump and praise God to others for what He has done. No, I take some for granted and others I thank him in private, but I do not jump and have others take note in what God has done for me.

Application: I need to start walking, jumping and praising God to others in all He has done for me. To share my testimony with those who don’t know Jesus and to help open their eyes to my wonderful God.

Prayer: My Lord may I praise your name out loud so others will hear and see what you have done for your servant.

Scripture: Acts 2:45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.

Observation: Why are possessions so important to us? I can’t even imagine giving up something I to take care of someone else’s needs. Sometimes I can give out of my abundance, but when it gets close I find it almost impossible to give. God asks us to build up our treasures in heaven which can only happen if I give up the desires of the treasures I have here.

Application: Let go of the things I want here and now and be able to give to others. Stop being so concerned about getting things and focus on others in both money and time.

Prayer: Lord fill me with the Holy Spirit and take charge of this servant. Give me the heart to bless others.

Scripture: Acts 1:8 But you receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be a witness in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Observation: Most of the time I feel powerless. Constantly worrying about things in this world and feeling lost. Yet God has given me power through the Holy Spirit. I have seen and felt the power when I serve and honor God.

Application: I need to be doing more of what God wants me to do to feel the power of the Holy Spirit. To be in God’s will serving others and not worrying if I can do it, but knowing the Holy Spirit will do it through me.

Prayer: My God I need the power of the Holy Spirit today to fulfill the purpose you have created me for.
