Praise the Lord

Scripture Psalms 145:21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD, And all flesh shall bless His holy name Forever and ever.

Observation: When I speak, I should be praising the Lord. So, when I’m talking to someone I need to speak in love with honesty and compassion by doing this I’m praising the Lord. I need to use the words that would please God I need to show love as He shows me love, I need to have compassion as He has compassion on me. Whenever I open my mouth it should praise the Lord and others should see that I love God and that my actions will be honoring to Him.

Application: I need to think of what I’m about to say and say it with praise to God. No evil should ever come out of my mouth, no hateful words and I should never put anyone down or make them feel bad in anyway. May the man I become praise God.

Prayer: My Lord I know this is not the man I would be apart from you so fill me with the Holy Spirit guide my mouth that I will praise you always and forever.

Lord Why Us?

Scripture Psalms 144:3 LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him?

Observation: That is the big question, why does the Almighty God care about us? Why would the creator of all things take heart about us sinners? God created us for Him, we are His children and His love. If our children were bad, we wouldn’t stop loving them even though we are sinners. So how much more a sinless and loving God will always love His children. We will never be able to understand God’s compassion for us, this side of Heaven, but when we get home it will become clearer.

Application: Live my life knowing that I am God’s and that He loves me. Share this love with others and tell people about this awesome God who wants to be close to them also. Whenever I am down go to my Heavenly Father and be still knowing that I’m loved by my creator.

Prayer: Dear Abba, I know that you love me, however I don’t know why. Soften my heart to receive your unconditional love and make me into the person you desire me to be. I love you and what to be closer to you.

Teach Me to Do Your Will

Scripture Psalms 143:10 Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

Observation: I say I want to do God’s will in my life, but for the most part I don’t know how. My wife and I are searching for a new church home where we may use our gifts for God’s glory, but I have no idea what to do. I need God to teach me instead of me getting in my way all of the time.

Application: I need to wait on my Lord for directions or I’m just spinning my wheels. I need to be patient and seek Him and what will please Him. I need to get rid of this laziness and make a real effort in doing what God calls me to do. I need to serve Him and not any other reason.

Prayer: My Lord teach me your will and your desires for this life that you have created. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and guide your bond servant on the journey you have chosen for me. I love you and what to finish well.

Lord You Are My Refuge

Scripture Psalms 142:5 I cried out to You, O LORD: I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.

Observation: There is no one else I should be crying out to. Only my Lord knows me and knows what I need. He is my only refuge and I need to draw close to Him in times of trouble. My ears need to be attentive to His words and desires for my life. He is the reason that I exist and only He has the direction that I should take.

Application: I need to stop complaining to others about things that happen to me. I need to take my complaint to my God and have Him open my eyes to what I should be doing. I’m sure as I take my complaints to Him, He’ll open my eyes to see I may have nothing to complain about and show me all that He has already done, but only in Him do I trust.

Prayer: My Lord you are my everything and I need to be close to you in all that I do and say. May I always be obedient in what you call your servant to do for my desire is to please. Form me into the vessel you desire.

Guard My Mouth

Scripture Psalms 141:3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

Observation: I have a bad habit of just saying what first comes to my mind without thinking and unfortunately the things that come first should have been thought out. Once you say something it’s too late to take it back. If I guarded my mouth first and prayerfully thought out what I was about to say I could encourage others, glorify God and not look like a fool.

Application: I sometime speak out of anxiousness and I need to settle down and think before I speak. I need to stop trying to talk just to hear my self and need to take a moment and ask God to place that guard over my mouth or give me the words that might encourage or comfort someone.

Prayer: My Lord I can’t do this without you and I need your guidance in what I should say. Take this anxiety from me and give me patience to wait on what it is you desire me to say and what I say may it always glorify you.

You Cover My Head

Scripture Psalms 140:7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle.

Observation: My Lord is the strength of my salvation, but when I look back at all the battles, I’ve been in fighting depression it was God who covered my head. He protected me from the enemy and gave me hope and courage to go on. Every day He protects me from my enemy and when I fall into his traps it is my Lord who pulls me out.

Application: I need to depend upon God, but also keep away from the temptations of the enemy. I need to cling onto the word of God and obey His commands as He directs me through this battle called life.

Prayer: My Lord defeat this enemy that continue to try to trap me. All my strength comes from you and I need to follow the plan you have for this life. I love you Lord help me live a life that pleases you.

I’m Wonderfully Made

Scripture Psalms 139:14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Observation: It’s hard to say that I’m wonderfully made, but as I tell everyone, God doesn’t make mistakes. He created me the way that I am for a purpose, a purpose that will glorify Him. He has created everything that I see each day and those things that I don’t. I do know in my heart that all that I see is God’s creation and at one time everything was very good. May He still be able to say that about me.

Application: I need to look at myself through God’s eyes and see how marvelously I am made. Humble myself daily to my creator’s will and seek ways to fulfill my purpose in this life to honor God. I need to stop much more often and praise Him for the creator that He is and honor Him with this life.

Prayer: My Lord and my God. Thank you for making me, me. I’m uniquely created with specific skills, talents and testimony. Use everything that I am to please you. I love you Lord.
