A Man Full of Faith

Scripture Acts 6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,

Observation: That would be great to be known as a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. Stephen was so full of faith and the Holy Spirit that others could see it. There is a difference of thinking you are full of faith and that you are truly full of faith that others can witness it.

Application: I need to walk in faith and continue to call upon the Holy Spirit to guide my life. I want to be a Stephen that others can see my faith and want the same for themselves. I must die to myself and focus on the needs of others. Letting the Holy Spirit take charge, because before you can be full of the Holy Spirit, you have to be empty of everything else.

Prayer: Holy Spirit fill me today so that You may speak to those You have chosen to speak with. May you take over this vessel and use it for Your glory.

Worthy to Suffer

Scripture Acts 5:41 So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.

Observation: Would I be able to rejoice if I suffered for the name of Jesus? I would hope I could, but the little sufferings I experience in this world leave me anxious. Jesus truly suffered for me, a death of unbelievable pain so that I may live with Him for all eternity. I will never suffer the way He did for me no matter what I do. I can never repay Him, but I can do what He calls me to do. He deserves my best.

Application: My time here is short and Jesus has made a place for me with Him. He has a heart for all of His children and wants to use us to reach those that are lost. He has called me to use the gifts and abilities that He has blessed me with along with the opportunities to reach those children. No matter what the day may bring that I will always rejoice that God has allowed me to do His work.

Prayer Thank You Jesus for allowing me to be part of your plan to touch the lives of others in your name. May I always be focused on accomplishing the goal You have set before me no matter what the cost. You deserve my best and may I bless You with it today.

In the Name of Jesus

Scripture Acts 4:10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.

Observation: Do we always give Jesus the glory when He performs miracles in our lives? In my prayer walks God has shown me answered prayers as we pray in the name of Jesus, but I don’t always give God the glory when those miracles are performed in my life. My whole life is a miracle, I shouldn’t even still be alive so anything good that comes out of it is a miracle.

Application: When I give my testimony and how God has worked in my life I need to point to Jesus as the miracle worker. So much happens in a course of a day that even at the end I don’t remember all the people that I’ve talked to. I need to take time and reflect on these moments and to make sure that the glory goes to Christ so that others will seek Him.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for loving me so much that You didn’t give up on this old sinner. May I always be obedient giving You the glory as You work through my life. I love You and ask that You keep me close.

Repent and Be Converted

Scripture Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

Observation: Repent is a big part of forgiveness, because if you refuse to change the way you live you can’t receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Repenting involves turning from our sins and walking towards God grace and it will not be a onetime action, but a daily realization that we sin and need to turn to God for forgiveness.

Application: I know that I continue to sin in my flesh, but as soon as I realize what I’ve done I need to repent and turn to God for strength to stay the course He has for me. Each day I need to stay closer to my Lord and ask for the strength and guidance I’ll need to be the man that will please Him.

Prayer Dear Lord convict me if I turn from You at any time today. Give me the wisdom I need to be aware of my wickedness and be the man that will be able to glorify You.

Praising God

Scripture Acts 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Observation: Jesus told us the greatest commandment was to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul and to love others as yourself. After receiving the Holy Spirit, the first thing the people did was to praise God. Are we doing that today? There is so much going on today we sometimes forget God all together. We should be praising God instead of worrying about things we can’t change and by doing that we will draw others to Him.

Application: I need to start my day by praising God and thanking Him for all the many blessings He has given me. When I go on my walks, God needs to be the focus of my attention as I speak to others. When I pray God needs to get the glory and love He deserves from me. My mission isn’t to glorify myself, but my Lord.

Prayer Dear God, I praise You for all that You are. You are worthy of all of my love, praise, worship and time. Use me in a way that will please and glorify You. I love You Lord You deserve the best from me.

Power from the Holy Spirit

Scripture Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Observation: I’ve felt the power of the Holy Spirit many times. It’s only because of His power that I can go and pray with others each day or write the things that I do. It’s a wonderful experience when the Holy Spirit takes over in prayer speaking to the person God has put in my path that day. I have confidence to know I will have the right words to say to someone who needs God’s word in their life.

Application: Each day to ask the Holy Spirit to guide me and not try to do it on my own. Learn from the Holy Spirit as He speaks to others through me. Speak with Him as I walk and try to understand my role in this time and to get out of my own way.

Prayer Dear Lord I’m yours. Continue to use the Holy Spirit in my life to draw me closer to You and to be a better person. I know my short comings and need You to direct my steps as I walk along this path You have chosen for me.

I’m One That Jesus Loves

Scripture John 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.

Observation: What a wonderful title one that Jesus loves. It’s a title that is given to everyone whether we realize it or not. Jesus suffered and died for everyone even though not everyone will accept this precious gift. He said there is no greater love than to give your life for a friend and He did.

Application: I need to show others that we are loved by our creator and that this life is to get ready for our eternal life with Him. I need to act and say the things that will honor God so no one can find fault in my love for Him. Be ready to tell others the hope I have in my Lord no matter what the cost.

Prayer My Lord I don’t know why You love me, maybe You will explain it when I get home. May I show my love for You that others may see and bring them closer to You. I know I can’t do this on my own so may the Holy Spirit fill me and act through me. I love You Lord.
