What Makes Me Different?

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 4:7 For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

Observation: There is nothing I have that God hasn’t given me, so I have nothing to boast about in myself and I have nothing to feel bad about because God has given me everything I need to live this life for him.

Application: Live my life without fear because I have all I need through Christ who saved me. I can accomplish all the God desires if I let him work through me, if I yield to his will and allow the Holy Spirit to take charge. I need to get myself out of the way and be focused on what God desires are for me and fulfill them in my life.

Prayer: Dear Lord I freely give you this life as a living sacrifice, may it be Holy and pleasing to you. I am here to serve you and you are so worthy of all my love, praise and obedience. I thank you for all the blessings and gifts you have given me and ask you direct this servant.

The Man Who Waters

Scripture: I Corinthians 3:8 The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.

Observation: God has given me a specific purpose in life to spread the gospel and bring others to him. He also has a special way for me to do it, whether to plant the seed or to water along the way. It doesn’t matter what position I am but that I’m obedient doing my part.

Application: Continue to be in prayer and be observant to what God is calling me to do. I need to make my place in God’s plan the most important thing I do and do it in a way that pleases God. I need to take every opportunity to fulfill my purpose for my Lord and do it in a way that glorifies him.

Prayer: Dear Lord fill me with the Holy Spirit and show me the part you want me to play this day. May I be obedient in all that you ask and may your love grow with the task you set before me.

Words taught by the Spirit

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

Observation: I had a counseling session with a man yesterday that has just came out of drug use and has been clean for 6 months and now going through a divorce. I was able to listen and speak words I couldn’t, but the Holy Spirit intervened and spoke to him through me. I have prayed and the words are never mine and even in this journal the things that are expressed are of the spirit.

Application: To allow the Holy Spirit to keep using me. Be in prayer when I speak and let the spirit take control. Always be in the Word so I have direction on what to do and give God all the glory. Put myself in situations that the Holy Spirit can take charge and freely give in to the spirit’s guidance.

Prayer: Dear God fill me with the Holy Spirit and take charge over this servant. Use me as you will and speak through me to others to encourage, guide and help those you want to touch. I freely give you this life as a living sacrifice.

Boast in the Lord

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Observation: That was a big problem in my life that I was full of false pride and would boast in what I could do or lie about what I thought I could do. It is wonderful to be able to give credit where credit is do if I do anything that is praiseworthy, because it’s telling the truth. That the Lord did it through me. I had a hard heart and the Lord softened it, any ability I have was given to me by God.

Application: Continue to give God the credit He deserves it and seek for things that will glorify Him to others. I should be like a small child bragging to my friends how great my Father is to others and I should act in a way that they would want to meet my Dad.

Prayer: Dear God I love you with all my heart and ask you to guide this servant to accomplish what you desire. I need your love and strength or I won’t make it. Place in my heart your desires for this servant.

Tested and Approved in Christ

Scripture: Romans 16:10 Greet Apelles, tested and approved in Christ

Observation: That is what I want to be tested and approved in Christ. I’ve been tested, but most of the time I have not come out glorifying God. Being approved of Christ is living a life honoring to him, which is something I don’t do.

Application: Testing will come and I need to trust in God that He will get me through. Faith will make me approved and get me through the trials I will encounter.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me live a life that will be approved by you. I am weak and am struggling even now and without you I will not make it. You are worthy of all of my love, praise and obedience, show me how to give these things to you.

Being Filled with Joy

Scripture: Romans 15:13 May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Observation: The key phrase here is “as you trust in him” I haven’t been doing that very will lately, it seems I’m always worrying. God has never let me down yet I live my life at times as if I can’t trust him and have to do it on my own. I will never have peace and joy until I trust God completely, because I can’t receive the power of the Holy Spirit until then.

Application: I need to let go of my worries and give them to God. There is nothing that man can do to me that God doesn’t allow and if He allows it there is a reason and He will get me through. Know that God is with me always and seek his face each moment and ask for his guidance.

Prayer: Dear Lord increase my faith that I will trust in you completely. I freely give you this life as a living sacrifice, may it be holy and pleasing to you.

What is not Faith is Sin

Scripture: Romans 14:23 But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

Observation: I never looked at lack of faith is sin, but I can see it’s true. Most of my life and thoughts have been from a lack of faith. My negative emotions and the sins I commit are because I don’t trust God to work in my life, which must grieve God. Now with my job I’m uncertain what is happening and I’m anxious and afraid and it’s like telling God I don’t trust you. I didn’t realize until now how much of a sinner I am.

Application: To honor God I need to increase my faith and walk my talk. I can’t tell others it’s in God’s hands if I don’t believe it. I need to remove the doubt in my life and stop worrying about what is going to happen and live a life honoring God.

Prayer: Dear Father help me, increase my faith that I may live a life in glory and honor to you. I am weak, strengthen me to live this life in a way that is pleasing to you.
