I Need to Be Equipped By God

Scripture: Hebrews 13: [21] equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Observation: It seems I’m always trying to equip myself to do what God wants of me and I always seem to fall short. I keep trying to do everything myself, in my own power, which I’m realizing doesn’t exist. I guess I’ve always had a hard time asking for help and trusting.

Application: Allow myself to be equipped to do what God has intended me to do, who better would know what I need. That my goal each day is to accomplish what God wants accomplished and pray throughout the day for his guidance and provision. To be totally dependent on God.

Prayer: Dear Lord forgive this servant for his lack of faith. I’m eager to serve you, show me how. Equip me with what I’ll need and direct me on this journey.

Being Trained by Discipline

Scripture: Hebrews 12: [11] No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Observation: I’m currently going through discipline, I think. I’ve lost my job and I’m in a place where I’m not sure what to do. I’m seeking God’s voice each day, but I’m not trusting in him. That has been my lesson each time I face adversity is that I do the right things, pray and read, but I don’t fully trust.

Application: Seek God more in these times and instead of worry, pray. Pray for understanding and listen more to hear his voice call to me. His voice came in a soft whisper to Moses. Seek quiet time with the lord and receive my disobedience of not trusting as discipline and know when the time is over there will be work for me to do, his work.

Prayer: Dear Lord forgive this servant for his lack of faith. Guide me to do what is right and just in your eyes and direct my paths.

Can’t Please God Without Faith

Scripture: Hebrews 11: [6] And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Observation: No wonder I have such a hard time pleasing God, my lack of faith. I know my Lord exists I just keep doubting what He wants to do in my life. A day doesn’t go by that I don’t worry and second guess God’s plan for me. I have every reason to have faith in God he has proven time and time again is faithfulness in my life.

Application: To trust in him totally. To come to him with how I’m feeling and leave my worries at the foot of the cross, knowing he doesn’t want me to take those burdens. To strengthen my faith by prayer and the reading of his word.

Prayer: Dear Lord I thank you for the work you have already done in this servant’s life and I thank you in advance what you are about to do. Bless this day, increase my faith that I may honor you.

Persevering to Do His Will

Scripture: Hebrews 10: [36] You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Observation: I have such a hard time persevering, it is so easy for me to give up. My prayer is to do the will of the Father, yet if it takes too much effort I seem to make excuses why not to do it. The enemy knows my mind and I give in too easy instead of persevering to the promise God has given me and I know He is faithful.

Application: Make up my mind and heart that I will complete the task God has set before me and be faithful to him. To be in prayer, reading my Bible doing good works and proclaiming his love to others. Ask for his will in my life and then be silent so I may hear his answer.

Prayer: Dear Father forgive me for straying so easily. Give me strength to be the man you call me to be and open my eyes to your will for my life. May I persevere on the path you have set for me and glorify your name with the things that I do.

Facing Judgment

Scripture: Hebrews 9: [27] Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,

Observation: Am I ready to face judgment? Have a lived a life in glory and honor to God? Unfortunately the answer is not yes and if the time was now I know it might be disappointing to hear what God would have to say. The good thing it’s not over yet and I have a day at a time to live for Christ.

Application: I need to dedicate each day for living for God and to fulfill the purpose he has created me for. To do things that honor him and that could be read back at my day of judgment pleasing to God.

Prayer: Dear Lord bless this day may it glorify you. Open my eyes to the things that are pleasing to you. When it is time may I hear the words will done good and faithful servant enter.

Our New Covenant

Scripture: Hebrews 8:10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.

Observation: When I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior, something happened in both my mind and heart. I couldn’t talk the way I use to and my thoughts were so different. I couldn’t swear, didn’t want to lie and I saw people different than before. I would cry easy and things and people touched my heart in a way that it was never touched before. He is my God and I belong to him.

Application: Continue to allow God to change me both in mind and spirit. Pray that his will be done in my heart and my eyes open to what he wants to show me. Show God each day how much he means to me and how much I love and trust him.

Prayer: Dear Lord I do love you and I know how much my mind wanders from you. Help me grow closer to you and see the things you have in store for me. Help me complete the task you created me for in glory and honor to you.

My Lord is Perfect Forever

Scripture: Hebrews 7: [28] For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

Observation: I can testify about man being weak. I experience it more each day, that there is no man on earth that is strong enough to manage the affairs of God or man. Only Jesus living in our hearts can guide us through this life and into eternal life with God the Father.

Application: To submit myself fully to Jesus deity and power over my life. To obey God with all of my heart with his purposes as my objective to accomplish and not my own. To tell others of my high priest and first love so they may be guided by his power and love.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me please see your desires for my life. I seem to get a little more lost when I focus on the things around me instead of you. Purpose in my heart the things of you and guide me through this day and the rest of my life that I may glorify you.
