Providing for Our Own
Scripture 1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Observation: When my first wife of thirty-two years of marriage wrote and asked for a divorce and everything else, we had, this verse came to heart. I was hurt and unaware of the letters to come one from her and the other from an attorney just a day apart. I was hurt and angry and asked God for direction. He put this verse on my heart and when they asked for everything put the bills, I agreed. I felt this was what God wanted and my last chance to provide for her.
Application: God has provided for me and has blessed me with my obedience. It was a hard road but he led me to my current wife. I’m so blessed to share my life with this great woman whom I love. Those times have been an encouragement to me throughout my life of God’s grace and provision. Whenever I have any doubts, I think back on this and it gives me strength and hope to get through anything else the enemy might put in my path.
Prayer My Lord, I thank you for your faithfulness and constant provision. May I look back at all the times you were there for me and never doubt about any other situation that might come up, and go to you for guidance. Use me today to glorify your name.
