Providing for Our Own

Scripture 1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Observation: When my first wife of thirty-two years of marriage wrote and asked for a divorce and everything else, we had, this verse came to heart. I was hurt and unaware of the letters to come one from her and the other from an attorney just a day apart. I was hurt and angry and asked God for direction. He put this verse on my heart and when they asked for everything put the bills, I agreed. I felt this was what God wanted and my last chance to provide for her.

Application: God has provided for me and has blessed me with my obedience. It was a hard road but he led me to my current wife. I’m so blessed to share my life with this great woman whom I love. Those times have been an encouragement to me throughout my life of God’s grace and provision. Whenever I have any doubts, I think back on this and it gives me strength and hope to get through anything else the enemy might put in my path.

Prayer My Lord, I thank you for your faithfulness and constant provision. May I look back at all the times you were there for me and never doubt about any other situation that might come up, and go to you for guidance. Use me today to glorify your name.

Giving in To the Devil

Scripture 1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

Observation: This is the latter times and the devil is gaining momentum. God’s word about these times is all coming true from calling evil good and good evil to the corruption of the people on this planet. Satan isn’t hiding himself any more, but has been busy corrupting the world. It seems are only hope is that God will call his children home and end this evil.

Application: This is the time to stand firm in God’s word and to be an example to others. I need to stay away from the news and all the lies being told. To stay close to God and what He is calling me to do. I am here at this time because that is what God has called for. Live each day one day at a time and be more concerned on what God has called me to be and less about the things that I can’t change.

Prayer Dear Lord direct my path today, put those in my path that I may be a light to. Direct and guide me not to be part of this evil world but to be focused on You and your will for my life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and show me what to do.

Great is the Mystery of Godliness

Scripture 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.

Observation: This is the declaration of our faith and the only way to Heaven. That Jesus came down to save us from our sins and became man. He died for us and if we believe that and that He arose from the dead and sits with our Father we are saved. Now our job is to share this truth with an unbelieving world and live the life that will honor our Lord.

Application: God has set me on a mission to pray with others. That mission might change as it has in the past, but I need to be close to God so I can hear Him guiding me. My responsibility now is to be obedient to the One who saved this sinner and ask guidance throughout each day.

Prayer Thank you Lord for getting me up this morning. Please put me on the path You desire of me today and use this vessel to touch others in your name. I thank you for my purpose and may I do it well. I can’t wait to see what You have in store for me today.

God Desires That All Men Be Saved

Scripture 1 Timothy 2:4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Observation: In God’s word He says His desires that all men be saved, but we know that is not what is going to happen. So many people have not received Jesus as their Lord and Savior and others have turned away. God has given us every opportunity to have eternal life with Him and made it easy to receive redemption, but our lack of faith and stubbornness keeps us from receiving the greatest gift we could ever have.

Application: I need to see each person I meet as one that God desires to be home with Him. I need to treat them with the love and respect that would honor God and to see them as His child. I should always make myself available to others whether for prayer or help and to be the example Jesus called me to be.

Prayer My Lord, I thank you for receiving me as your child. I want to be obedient to You and the calling You put on my life. Give me opportunities today to help those receive You as their Lord.

He Saves Sinners

Scripture 1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

Observation: Jesus came to save me, a sinner. Most of my life was devoted to myself and my needs without consideration of anyone else. I didn’t deserve to be saved, but Jesus broke into my life and reached out to me and I took His hand. I feel like Paul that I was the chief of sinners and didn’t deserve this great privilege of being saved.

Application: I need to be grateful each day of the gift my Lord has given me and boast of it to others. I need to share my testimony to help others see that Jesus came not only to save me, but them. To share God’s love and saving grace.

Prayer Thank You Lord for saving me. You’ve bought me with your blood and I ask only that you use your servant to fulfill the purpose I was created for. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and guide me today to share with those you surround me with about the salvation you have in store for them.

My Lord is Faithful

Scripture 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

Observation: God is faithful and keeps His promises, but most of the promises have a condition to them. God calls us to be faithful also and obey what He tells us. To protect someone, they must be close to you and the same goes for God’s protection. We need to be close to Him for him to protect us and guard us from evil.

Application: To stay close to my Lord. Continue to read the bible each day, stay in prayer and ask for guidance on what He desires of me. I need to stay away from distractions that are not of God and be involved in His work each day.

Prayer My Lord, I thank you for your protection and love. May I stay close to you today as I walk among your children and that You will be able to use me to draw them closer to you.

I Was Sanctified

Scripture 2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,

Observation: I don’t know why God would choose me for salvation. I chose to live most of my life without Him in the most selfish manner. He knows everything about me, after all He created me and knew that my heart would change and that I would receive Him as my Lord and Savior. I can’t imagine ever doing the things that He has called me to do and the way my heart has changed, but He knew from the beginning.

Application: I have not only been chosen for salvation, but also for a purpose. God still gives me a choice whether I will be obedient or not. How can I not obey my Lord, there is where my joy lies. I love Him so much and I do want Him to be pleased with me. My choice is to follow Him wherever He leads me, but He already knows that.

Prayer My Lord I am yours. Do with me as you desire today and each day that I may glorify your name. Please take away anything that is not of You and that the Holy Spirit will speak to Your servant and guide me on my journey today.
