Christ’s Ambassadors

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5: [20] We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Observation: Every Christian is an ambassador for Christ. We are to represent Christ to the world by speech, action and thought. When others look at me are they seeing Christ work in me?

Application: I must live a life that represents my Lord. I must make a conscience decision each day that no matter what happens I represent my Lord and Savior to others in the best way I can. I am a new creation through Jesus and I must show others what Jesus can do for them.

Prayer: My Lord guide me through this day that I might represent you in a way honoring to you.

Achieving Eternal Glory

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4: [17] For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

Observation: I allow myself to be consumed with the worries of this world. I focus on my work and getting a home. I worry about little aches and pains and feel this is what life is about. This will continue until I turn my focus on God in prayer.

Application: I need to realize this life is a small part of my total existence. This is just a placement test for where I’ll spend eternity. My focus needs to be on what am I here for and how can I honor God with what I do each day

Prayer: My God I’m here for you. May I rejoice in my sorrows and ask what should I learn to better serve you.

Freedom

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3: [17] Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Observation: I believe that it’s the freedom of sin and condemnation that will allow us to be free to live a life the way God desires us to live. We receive the Holy Spirit once we ask Christ into our hearts. That is the Spirit of Freedom.

Application: I need to start living my life as a free man and not a slave to this world & sin. Jesus has freed me yet I still live enslaved. It’s time I live a life of glory in my Lord.

Prayer: My Lord thank you for freeing your servant, but I want to be a bond servant for you for the rest of my life here and for all eternity.

Unaware of Satan’s Schemes

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 2: [11] in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

Observation: At first, I read this as we are unaware of his schemes, but it says we are not unaware, we know Satan wants to kill and destroy us and make our lives unbearable. When we fall into his schemes, we must be aware of what is happening and run under the shelter of Christ.

Application: I need to realize some of the worst moments in my life have been orchestrated by Satan to destroy me. When I run to God, He can take these terrible times and work them for His good.

Prayer: My Lord open my eyes to Satan schemes then let me stand firm while you battle for me.

God of Comfort

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1: 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,

Observation: Sometimes I forget who God really is. I pray each morning and try to draw nearer to the creator of the universe. I wonder why He would care about me. Who am I that He would give me even a second glance. Yet He works in my life each day and shows this servant love and compassion. He has brought me through this life and saved me when I didn’t want to be saved, then blessed me when I deserved to be punished.

Application: To live each day knowing my God is a God of compassion and comfort. And not to try to figure out why, but have faith to trust in Him, that He has everything under control.

Prayer: My Father please comfort me this day, remove any anxiety and guide me to your desires.

Men of Courage

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 16: 13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.

Observation: I need to stand firm in faith. I’m always getting ahead of myself, and God, because I don’t stand firm. How many times does the Word tell us to stand still and wait on the Lord. I need to be more aware of what God wants then stand strong that He will do it, which takes faith, trust and courage.

Application: I need to mediate on God’s word and listen to what God is telling me then trust it and take the steps God is directing me in. I need to be more courageous and trusting, then stand firm and watch God work.

Prayer: My Lord give me courage and strength to stand firm and then follow your lead.

Bad Company

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15: 33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

Observation: It’s so easy in this world to fall under peer pressure or try to impress someone else. The people you surround yourself with will either corrupt you or help keep you on the right path. I’ve seen this in my life and especially the life of my son. He surrounded himself at one time with gang members and that is what he became. The people at my work are nice but not Christians. I can get into a conversation that can compromise my thoughts and speech if I’m not careful.

Application: I can’t avoid the world and I’m not supposed to. But I can make a better effort to spend more time around my brothers and sisters in Christ to help strengthen me and build up my character.

Prayer: My Lord may I use my time more wisely meeting with my Christian friends in Bible study, dinner and fellowship.
