Month: March 2026

Be Merciful

Scripture: Jude 1:22 Be merciful to those who doubt;

Observation: I’m a person who needs to be right. I want to win the argument and force people to see what I believe. Usually that makes others defensive and instead of listening they want to defend their believes. I’m not merciful and my concern isn’t for the person I’m talking to, but the goal of winning and being right.

Application: I need to show love and mercy to everyone, the way my Lord and savior showed me. If I represent Christ, people will see that and be drawn near by the Holy Spirit. I need to listen and wait and let the Holy Spirit speak the words.

Prayer: My Lord you know my stubborn ways. Move me aside, fill me with the Holy Spirit and use me to witness to others.

Do Not Imitate Evil

Scripture: 3John 11 Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.

Observation: I try to do good and honor God, but there are times I imitate evil with my thoughts whether lustful, judgmental or pride. The greatest evil I do is through laziness, where I don’t do the good, I know I should. I do some good but not enough, my Lord is worth one hundred percent of my obedience and anything less is sin.

Application: I need to make a better effort of serving God. I need to make a plan to to start my day honoring God getting in His word, to walk and pray. Set a goal on the ministry I want to accomplish for God.

Prayer: My Lord take this laziness away and show me how to do good in your eyes. I want to know you better.

Watch Out

Scripture: 2 John [8] Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.

Observation: I become complacent and realize I focus on things of this world more than on what God wants of me. When I first became a Christian, I couldn’t do enough, yet I wasn’t sure all the time what to do. Now my knowledge is greater in what I should do, but my laziness at times prevents me from doing it.

Application: I need to get back that zeal for the Lord’s work. Making it my top priority to please God. I need to have a stronger drive in doing the things for the Lord then I ever had before. When I get lazy and pass an opportunity to serve, I need to say to myself, “Watch Out!”

Prayer: My Lord may the work I have done so far be just the early beginning of all the things I will accomplish for you.

Love God, Obey Him

Scripture: 1 John 5:3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.

Observation: If I truly love God I will want to please Him and do it with a joyful heart. God loves me and the commands He gives me is for my own good, they are not a burden, but an opportunity to please Him.

Application: I need to be aware of all God’s commands and memorize and meditate on them. Start each day aware of what God wants and to live in a way to honor and please Him. To obey God is my purpose in life and the more I do, the closer I will come to Him.

Prayer: My Lord put your Word into my heart and open my eyes to all you want from me. May I please you this day and make you proud.

Why We Love

Scripture: 1 John 4:19 We love because He first loved us.

Observation: When I was saved one thing surprised me. I would look at children, seniors and the homeless in a different way. Where I used to ignore them or just never noticed, I started to see them. I got joy watching children playing and would always stop to talk to them. I left gift cards for the homeless and would stop to give them money and I would lead some of the outreaches at senior and nursing homes. God put that love in my heart that I never had before.

Application: I need to love everyone as God commanded me, not because I have to but because God wants me to. I can fight what God is putting on my heart, but I need to surrender, because of the love He shows me.

Prayer: My Lord, I thank you for your mercy, grace and love. May my love show through to you as I love others this day.

Obeying God’s Commands

Scripture: 1 John 3:24 Those who obey His commands live in Him, and He in them. And this is how we know that He lives in us. We know it by the spirit He gave us.

Observation: The only way I can do what God calls me to do is by the Holy Spirit. I want to please God, but without His help I can do nothing. I can see the way God has come into my life since I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Only He would have been able to use a sinner like me.

Application: I need to allow the Holy Spirit to take over and to continue to change me into the image of his Son. I want to finish this race well and glorify God with this life and I need His help and love to accomplish this.

Prayer: My Lord continue to change me into the man you want me to be. I’m here to glorify your name and fulfill the purpose you desire of me.

World’s Desire Pass Away

Scripture: 1 John 2: [17] The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

Observation: It reminds me how much of my time is spent on the world’s desire and how much on God’s will. Most of my time is used up in worldly things. Work, house, chores, finances, etc. My leftover time is then focused on God instead of the other way around.

Application: I need to make God’s will top priority at all times. The way I love, work, interact with others, all things need to honor God. My focus above all is what does God want of me? That should be my first priority.

Prayer: My Lord even as I write this my mind is wondering about other things. Help me be focused on you first, may my heart be on you and not this world.
