Month: January 2026

God Chose Me

Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 1: 4 For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you,

Observation: I know that God chose me because His spirit lives in me. I also know He loves me and has kept me safe. He has been with me in my struggles and blesses me when I don’t deserve to be blessed.

Application: I need to act like a child loved by his heavenly Father. Confident in knowing He has chosen me and looks after me each day. It’s time I start giving more of myself to my Father’s business.

Prayer: My Father I thank you for choosing me, protecting me, guiding me and loving me. Show me how I might bring a smile to your face this day.

Being Wise Towards Others

Scripture: Colossians 4: [5] Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

Observation: I’m so judgmental of others I forget I’m suppose to be an ambassador for Christ and not a self appointed judge. I don’t see others as an opportunity to share the gospel, which I should be doing. My one and only purpose is to bring others to Christ using the gifts and talents God has given me.

Application: I need to start each day with the purpose to seek out people to talk to. I don’t need to start out with the gospel, but be a person that someone would be willing to listen to. If I get that opportunity to speak, I need to make the most of it.

Prayer: My Lord put someone in my path today that I may tell them of You. May my words come from the Holy Spirit and draw that person close to you.

Setting My Mind

Scripture: Colossians 3: [2] Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Observation: Each day I try to think of what God has for me, but I’m surrounded by earthly things, and I spend most of the day set on earthly things. I know I need the help of the Holy Spirit to stay focused on the things above.. I start each day in prayer and ask to do God’s will, but it doesn’t take long until I’m right back in the world.

Application: I need to be in prayer more throughout the day and ask God’s direction and be focused why I’m here and where I’m going when this life is over.

Prayer: My Lord help me through this day to be focused on the things above, that every decision I make is what you want of me.

Continue to Live in Christ

Scripture: Colossians 2: 6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,

Observation: Even though I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior I don’t always live in Him. I choose to live in this world and get preoccupied with what is happening around me. At times I forget why God put me here. If I live in Christ daily, He will guide my life.

Application: When I get into this world I need to step back and remember who I belong to. The creator of everything, my Lord and Master and then I need to live for Him and in Him. There should not be a doubt to anyone around me who’s I am and they should see the difference God makes in my life.

Prayer: Dear God help me each day to live in You. That I am surrounded by your love and go in the direction you desire me to go in.

A Life Worthy

Scripture: Colossians 1: [10] And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

Observation: That is what I want to live a life worthy of the Lord. I can’t dwell on my past mistakes but make a better effort from now on to live a better life, to strive to please Him and bear fruit. I want to be an orchard for God.

Application: I need to increase my knowledge of God by meditating more on His word and make plans to do good works and to make sure those plans bear fruit. My purpose is to please God and I want Him to be proud of His boy.

Prayer: Dear Lord show me how to glorify you. Use me today to please you and work for you.

Don’t Be Anxious

Scripture: Philippians 4: [6] Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Observation: As I write this I’m thinking about the money from a trust and how I need to know what is happening with it. I think about it constantly and am anxious. As much as I worry and think about it, I realize how little I pray about it.

Application: I need to focus on all God has given me and how He has taken care of me all my life. My focus should be on His desires not mine and pray for His will not mine.

Prayer: My Lord may my thoughts and desires be yours. Please take this anxiety away and take this burden from my heart and mind.

A Citizen of Heaven

Scripture: Philippians 3: [20] But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Observation: I live my life most of the time as a citizen of this world. I forget I’m just visiting. Everything I have is borrowed from God and when my time comes it will be given away. Jesus is my passport back home and I should be longing for heaven and doing everything I can to be welcomed home to my Father.

Application: I should live my life while focusing on my true home. Thinking of things that will honor God. Fulfilling my purpose here on this earth and desiring to hear my Father say, “well done good and faithful servant, welcome home.”

Prayer: My Lord I know that you are preparing a place for me. May I complete the work you have for me so I may come home and be with you.
