Solid Food

Scripture: Hebrews 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Observation: Sometimes I wonder how mature I am as a Christian. I read and journal each day, I pray every morning and evening, and I serve in my church. However, each day my thoughts can turn to evil and my actions don’t always show to others I’m a child of God. I make judgments of others and use my time as I want not taking in consideration what God wants me to do..

Application: It’s not enough to do the work without a completely changed heart. Everything I do I need to be able to distinguish it as good or evil, does it honor God or disappoint Him. I need to break away from the milk and enjoy His feast.

Prayer: My Lord guide me this day, fill me with the Holy Spirit and teach me your desires. May I enjoy the feast You have prepared for me.

Word of God Living and Active

Scripture: Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double edged sword it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Observation: Most of the time I read my Bible, but don’t fully appreciate what it is, the living Word of God. At times I don’t appreciate the power and gift of the Bible. It guides me each day, teaching me right from wrong, encourages me, shows me God’s will, what God will do for me and what I should be doing for God. It describes the life I should lead and the rewards of my heavenly Father that loves me. It is the greatest motivational book ever motivating me to live a life in glory to Him.

Application: I need to read and meditate on His word and live my life by what God says and use it as a weapon to fight evil.

Prayer: My Lord, I thank you for your Word, may I live my life according to your direction.

We Are His House

Scripture: Hebrews 3:6 But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are his house. If we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.

Observation: We are His house, part of the body of Christ. I’m God’s house and Jesus is faithful over God’s house, that truly makes me special since there is nothing more important in this world to God. We should boast in this and tell the world where we stand with God.

Application: I need to live each day knowing I’m God’s. It needs to show to others in my action and speech. This will give me courage to speak up and live each day in victory that I’m God’s house.

Prayer: My Lord thank you for being so faithful in looking over me, for your sacrifice and love I will never be able to repay but may I try for the rest of my life.

I Need Help When Tempted

Scripture: Hebrews 2:18 Because He himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.

Observation: Each day I’m tempted and I try to overcome it myself usually not very well. I’m tempted to sleep in instead of praying, not to exercise, I’m lazy with my time with Christ and tempted not to give what God has called me to give..

Application: I need to ask Jesus to help me deal with my temptations each day That I will do what He wants me to and ask that He lifts these burdens from me.

Prayer: Dear Lord help me today when I am tempted and guide me to what you desire. Fight the fight for me and guide this servant in the way you want me to go.

The Son is God’s Glory

Scripture: Hebrews 1: [3] The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Observation: Everything Jesus did and said came from God the Father. Every word penned in the Bible are words from God Himself. The man the Jesus represented on earth, the love, compassion, leadership is a representation of God the Father.

Application: God requires me to be more like His son. He has given me a model of what to strive for and has showed me His nature through Jesus. Before I do or say anything I need to think is this what Jesus would do?

Prayer: My God make me more like your son, Jesus, that You may look down on me and say this is my son whom I am well pleased.

Sharing Our Faith

Scripture: Philemon 1: [6] I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.

Observation: Active in sharing means to make an effort, to go out of my way to share the gospel. I may share my faith when someone comes to me and asks, but I’m not active to seek people who need to hear the gospel. I share my testimony in church where it is safe but I’m not active seeking those that need it. As I share the gospel the Holy Spirit takes over and I have a better understanding as the words come forth.

Application: I need to be active with my faith and to seek out any opportunity to share with those who don’t know the gospel.

Prayer: My Lord open my eyes to someone today that needs to hear about you. Use me as your instrument to glorify you.

Doing Good

Scripture: Titus 3: [8] This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

Observation: I like to do what is good, but I don’t devote myself to it. I seem to do good when I’m thinking about it and when it doesn’t interfere with what I want. God is so trustworthy and faithful in all He does and He deserves all my love, praise and obedience, yet I give so little.

Application: In everything I do I need to devote myself in doing what is good and right. Looking for the right way and not a short cut. Devoting myself to doing good and not living only for me.

Prayer: My Lord guide me each day to do what is good in your eyes. May I bring a smile to your face and may I glorify your name.
