Daily Devotional

Scripture Colossians 2:10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

Observation: Most of my life I’ve felt inadequate and felt I didn’t belong and out of place. When Jesus came into my life, I was different and the longer I walk with Him the more complete I feel. I know I don’t belong in this world, but I do belong to Him. I have everything I need to fulfill the purpose He has created me for and I have the Holy Spirit to guide me each day. All I need now is to be obedient to what He has called me to.

Application: God as put on my heart that I live only a day at a time. My focus is to do my Lord’s will and to listen to His commands. The people I will meet today are the ones that Have been put in my path. I have all I need today to make the difference God has called me to make and I’m ready to live this day for my Lord.

Prayer Good Morning Father. Thank you for preparing me for this day and giving me all I need. Help me stay focused on what the Holy Spirit is telling me and that I will be obedient to each command throughout the day. Look forward to spending this day with You.

Scripture Colossians 1:10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Observation: Walking worthy of the Lord is almost impossible unless He is walking with You. I found without the Holy Spirit at my side I can’t stay focused on my walk. My goal is to be pleasing and to do the will of the Father in my life and if I do it I will be fruitful. Each day I strive to understand more about God and my role in His plan. I now my knowledge will never be complete, but just a little better understanding would do.

Application: Each day is new in the Lord and I need to treat it that way. Not to get too comfortable in the routine but look for what God puts in my path. Be excited about this opportunity to serve and to be grateful to my Lord for everything He does.

Prayer My Lord thank you for another day to do your will in my life. Open my eyes to the things You want me to see and that I will do what pleases you. I love you Lord may my actions show that to others.

Scripture Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Observation: My whole life I was anxious about everything. I was in a constant state of depression and anxiety and never really knew peace. Even after Jesus came into my heart I still struggled with it. The closer I grew to my Lord the more peace I received. Prayer was the remedy God gave me, whenever anxiety would creep in I took it to my Lord in prayer and was grateful that He was always there for me.

Application: My prayers have changed the longer I walk with Jesus and my requests are that I fulfill the purpose I was created for. I’m thankful for each day and try to live in the moments He gives me daily. My anxiety is gone when He is the main thing I think about and I’m so thankful for that.

Prayer My Lord I come before you this morning with thanksgiving and ask that today You would reveal something about You that You want me to know. Help me be silent to hear your voice and draw me closer to You.

Scripture Philippians 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Observation: I do feel like an illegal immigrant here most of the time. I don’t fit in and feel out of place and that is a good thing. Now that I know I don’t belong here there must be someplace else where I belong. God has called me to be with Him for all eternity in Heaven and this life is simply a journey to get there. I’m called to do things on this journey and I want to go home accomplishing those things.

Application: God has given me another day here in this foreign land and I’m called to get some things done today. I need to stay in prayer to find out my duties today and be obedient in doing them. My time is getting closer to be with my Lord and I need to be diligent in getting my life in order to glorify Him.

Prayer My Lord thank you for allowing me to be with You in Heaven when my journey is over. I don’t deserve my new home but will forever be grateful. Can’t wait to tell you in person.

Scripture Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Observation: Can you imagine a world that everyone would esteem others above their own needs. No more crimes, murder, child abuse, divorce, all the commandments would be kept. The world is the opposite of this however with everyone trying to get as much as they can without consideration of others and it’s only getting worse as our leaders fuel the fire. It won’t be until we arrive in Heaven that we’ll be able to see others as God sees them.

Application: God has given me the opportunity to do this each day. It’s not easy for me since I seek recognition and praise for myself. I need to be humble as I walk and see others. I need not to judge others but see them to be better than myself and be available to help in any way that God calls me. To do this I need the Holy Spirit to take over, because I know this is something I can’t do on my own.

Prayer Dear Lord humble your servant before you. Put on my heart the needs of others and use me as you desire to introduce those who do not know you to your loving ways. Take the focus off of me and place it on the needs of others.

Scripture Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Observation: It took a long time in my Christian walk to understand this scripture. I understand now that this life was not given to me to live it for me, but that God would use it for Him. We say that when we die that will be the afterlife, but in reality, this is the pre-life we are living now. God has given us this time to live for Christ and He promises us an eternal home and rewards.

Application: My race is coming to an end and this pre-life will soon be over and I’ll be starting my real life with Christ. For now, I need to grow closer to God and allow the Holy Spirit to use me as He will so that others may see Jesus in my life. I will be spending my life with Christ and I need to spend the time I have here to get to know Him better.

Prayer My Lord, I thank you for this opportunity to live my life walking closer with You. You have taught me this life is a day at a time and as always, I give you this day that You will use me in a way that will glorify You.

Scripture Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Observation: Today there is evil all around and you can tell there is a force controlling it. The people we hate because of this evil are not the ones in control, but they are being controlled by Satan. We can’t overcome this evil on our own it will take an act of God to conquer what is happening. I pray each day that God will take His children home and out of this hell on earth, and it will happen according to His will and timing.

Application: My job is to do the will of the Father each day. I need the Holy Spirit to guide me and watch over me. I get to involved in what is happening in this world and lose my focus on my Lord. I need to stay focused on what I’m called to do and trust God that He will do the rest.

Prayer Dear Lord I need peace in my heart. There is so much going on around me that I get trapped in the news. Help me stay focused on You and your desires for me. Use me as a peacemaker in this world to glorify you.
