The Lord is Coming

Scripture Psalms 96:13 For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, And the peoples with His truth.

Observation: That is the message we need to get out to the world that the Lord is coming. I don’t understand why He has waited so long with all the evil and sin that is in the world, but it is not mine to know. God has a perfect plan and he’ll come when He desires to come. He will come ready to judge His people and we will be called to account. I’m not sure how much longer He will wait, but I need to be ready no matter when.

Application: My job is to tell others about my Lord and savior. My job is not to judge or point out others sin, but to tell them what Jesus did for me and point them to Him. How I handle my purpose in this life will be my judgment and the people I don’t tell will be on my head. I’m here as a messenger and I need to get the word out.

Prayer: My Lord I have been lazy doing my job. Make me a better servant and help get me going. May my mind be focused on the mission you have given me and may I be successful in all you call me to do. I love you and desire to please you, my Lord.

He Is Our Creator

Scripture Psalms 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.

Observation: Sometimes I forget that God is my creator. I forget He created me specifically with all the gifts and abilities I have for a specific purpose and one of the reasons I was created was to have fellowship with my Creator. He made me to love, so why don’t I feel loved at times? Most likely because I don’t think of my Lord as much as He thinks of me. He has watched over me each day and has guided me when I listened. I’m created to worship Him by living this life in His honor.

Application: I need to appreciate His creation as much as He does. I have everything I need to be successful in my maker’s eyes and I need to learn to start looking through them. He has given me His word and directions on how to live a life that will reap rewards and though I don’t deserve anything from my Lord, it gives Him pleasure to give them to me as my good Father. It’s so hard to accept at times but I know it’s true.

Prayer: My Lord and my Maker. Thank you for making me, me. It took a long time for me to realize I was created the way I am for a purpose and that You didn’t want to change a thing, that I was perfect in your eyes and I thank you. May I use all that you have given me to complete the tasks you have set before me. I love you my Lord may I worship you with my actions.

How Long Lord

Scripture Psalms 94:3 LORD, how long will the wicked, How long will the wicked triumph?

Observation: Each day I watch the news and I don’t know why. It is full of evil and breaks my heart. Just yesterday a murderer went into a school in Oregon and killed 10 people asking first what their religious beliefs were. All throughout the world is nothing but evil and hatred and I ask myself how long will God allow this. I know He wants none to perish, but each day it seems worse and the earth is turning into Hell.

Application: I’m only one person so what can I do. I can do what God calls me to do. I won’t affect the world, but if I help turn just one person from their evil ways and open their eyes to Jesus, it may be all that God has called me to do. He loves us so much that even one sinner is worth the sacrifice He made and He is calling me to be obedient to Him and focus on the lost and bring them to Him.

Prayer: My Lord my mind wanders everywhere. Help me focus on Your desires and show me how to fulfill the purpose You have created me for. I pray that my life will glorify your name and show others the love You have for them. Draw me close to You.

Does the Lord Reign?

Scripture Psalms 93:1 The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The LORD is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength. Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.

Observation: The Lord reigns and controls the earth, but does he reign in your life. God has given us a choice to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior or to reject Him. If God does not reign in our life, we have no life. God will not be an assistant manager, he must have complete control to reign and if we hold back we are telling Him we don’t want Him to reign in our lives. God created us and knows exactly what we need and what we need to be doing and we need to bow down to His Lordship and allow Him to control every aspect of our life.

Application: Each day my life is full of anxiety, because I don’t allow God to reign. I need to give up control and lay it all down before His throne. I have a purpose in this life that only God knows for sure and until I let Him take control, I will never realize it.

Prayer: My Lord please reign in my life and take control. Make me the man you desire me to be and guide me each day of my life. Show me how to fulfill the purpose You created me for and that I will bring you joy by the way I obey You. I love you and freely give you this life to lead.

Still Producing Fruit

Scripture Psalms 92:14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,

Observation: There is no retirement from doing God’s work. We are called to produce fruit until it is time to go home, for then is the time of rest. We think of retirement as the time of life when we can rest from our work and relax and enjoy the rest of our life, but God has not called us to stop working. I believe this time will be full of joy if I work harder for my Lord. I will have more time to devote to Him and His work and that work will produce fruit and bring meaning to my life.

Application: I should always be producing fruit no matter how hectic my days might become I need to always set time to do the work God has called me to do. My retirement plans need to include doing mission trips, teaching or helping others. It should not be filled with things that only benefit me. My retirement will be my opportunity to honor God with the gifts he has given me and a chance to earn rewards that will last forever.

Prayer: My Lord my thoughts are full of things that I plan for me, change me oh Lord and fill them with the plans you have for me. May my focus always be on what you desire and how I might please you. For I love you my King and want to produce so much fruit that it will be a bountiful harvest for you.

My Refuge is In the Lord

Scripture Psalms 91:2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Observation: Lately I’ve been struggling with my job. I wake up in the morning treading going to work, even to the point of feeling ill. I ponder all kinds of reasons why I hate my job so much and dwell there a good part of the day. I must be bringing so much joy to Satan, if I trusted in my God like I say I do and take refuge in Him, I would never feel the way I do. Instead of worrying about tomorrow I would spend time with God today. We only have the time we have in the present and nothing more is promised, not even the next minute.

Application: To do what I was created for and to be the man God calls me to be is to trust in Him and draw close and seek His guidance no matter what I might be going through. I need to stop living for me and trust my Lord to guide me to the place He wants me to be. I need to stop the distractions in this life and stay focused on my Lord and completely trust Him, for He cares for me and He has always shown me that.

Prayer: My Lord as you have always put on my heart Proverbs 3:5, 6 Help me trust in you with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding, but in all my ways acknowledge you and allow you to make my paths straight. I know you want the best for me, may I give myself totally to you and seek refuge only in You.

What Should We be doing Lord

Scripture Psalms 90:17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands.

Observation: God has called us for a purpose and He has specific work for us to do. He will establish the work of our hands and all we need to do is ask the boss what He desires of us. God has equipped us with our ministry, He has given us the necessary skills and talents He wants to use, He will supply the tools and opportunity to do our work. Like any other work we would go to our supervisor and ask what he wants done for that. The same goes with our Heavenly Lord, we pray in the morning for His guidance and He puts on our heart what to do. One of the biggest differences is our pay, we earn heavenly rewards that will last for all eternity by a job well done for our King.

Application: Each day I worry about my job and what I’m supposed to be doing. My focus is in this world most of the day and I need to start focusing more on God and His plan and job He has for me. I worked for my King yesterday when I fed the homeless at Bread of Life, but I should always be at work for my Lord no matter what I’m doing I should be doing it for the glory of the Lord. My eternal rewards can only be earned on earth and my time is running out and I have no time to waste. I need to get to work and work hard for my King.

Prayer: My Lord help me stay focused on the job you have for me. Take all the distractions away from me that cause me to stray from what you want me to do. I’m here as your servant and nothing else tell me each day what you desire and I will do it in glory and honor to you. I love and thank You my God, my Lord and my Boss.
