Only One God

Scripture 1 Corinthians 8:6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

Observation: If there is only one God who has created us and all that we see why are we not more fearful of Him? This is our God who has created us and has the power to do anything and yet we are willing to have just a casual relationship if any at all. God has created us for a specific purpose and we are going to need to know him to find out what that purpose is. Our lives should be wrapped around Him each day and live in constant contact to know His will.

Application: I’m living closer to God than I’ve ever have and yet I want more, actually I need more. Each day I want to know Him better and his will for my life, but I still get distracted and my mind wanders. I need to be more aware of my thoughts and actions to help others and glorify God.

Prayer My Lord you are the creator of all things and have my life in the palm of your hand. You are my God and you deserve my complete and undivided attention and obedience. Use me today as you desire and draw me closer to you.

Being One Flesh

Scripture 1 Corinthians 7:4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 1

Observation: God has called married couples to be one flesh, which is difficult in these days of selfish desires. More people are divorced than remained married and some live separate lives even though they are married. God calls us to be one and to care more about our spouse than we care about our own needs. Our decisions as a married person are to consider the impact of our decision on our marriage and that we should make any major decision together.

Application: I’m so blessed to have Teri as my wife. My desire is to please her and to live this life together. I need to make sure I don’t do anything out of selfish desires but look after her needs and the future of our relationship.

Prayer My Lord thank you for the great blessing of my wife. Help me stay focused on her needs and each day to grow closer as husband and wife. Watch over her today as we walk.

I Was Bought for A Price

Scripture 1 Corinthians 6:20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Observation: When I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I gave myself to Him. I want God to direct me and change my life in a way that will honor Him. I’m God’s property and I desire that He does what He wants with me and I need to stop fighting against God’s will and give myself over to His mercy.

Application: Dear Lord I know I should live my life a day at a time. I freely give You this life to be used as You desire and ask you to guide me throughout the day to be obedient to your commands.

Prayer Dear Lord, I thank you that I belong to you. I thank you for taking the reins of my life and guiding me each day. Please use me today to glorify you.

Judge Your Brother?

Scripture 1 Corinthians 5:12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside?

Observation: It’s easy to judge someone in private instead of face to face. Paul tells us not to judge the non-Christian but to hold our brother and sister accountable. When Paul tells us to judge those inside the church, I believe he is saying to confront them so if they are sinning, they might turn from their sin.

Application: I have trouble judging everyone, but not confronting them. I make judgments mostly on appearance or their actions and speech. I speak to people that consider themselves Christians, but after a while I can see what they are saying is not biblical but I don’t correct them. God has given me opportunities to help others stay on the path and others have helped me when I might be reading a scripture wrong and need my eyes open to the truth.

Prayer Good Morning my Lord. You put me in the path of so many people whether Christian or not. Please give me the gift of discernment when I speak and open my heart to what You desire to say to them. Holy Spirit teach me each day so that I may draw closer to You.

A Servant of Christ

Scripture 1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

Observation: I’m called to be a servant of Christ and a steward of all that He has given me. As A servant I wait for my Masters instructions, which is given in His word. I pray each day to see the path my Master chooses me to be on and walk with Him each day. He gives me only a day at a time and within that day are His commands and my job is to simply obey and complete the task He sets before me.

Application: It’s a new day and I need to be prepared for what my Lord has in store for me. I need to be humble and focused on His direction for the day and complete the tasks He gives me. My job is to do His will and hope that I hear the words well done at the end of the day.

Prayer Good Morning my Lord I’m ready to serve and fulfill your commands. Lead me today on my journey and put those in my path you desire to speak to. May I be a good steward of the gifts you have given me and may I bring a smile to your face today.

Our Reward is Up Us

Scripture 1 Corinthians 3:8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

Observation: God has called us to our own labor. He has a purpose for us and through our life that purpose can change as we grow in Christ. Like any typical job we start at the bottom and as we learn more skills we get promoted to do different levels of work and that is what the Christian life is learning new skills and advancing in God’s work.

Application: Continue to do what God has called me to do today and learn how to do it better. Keep in contact with my boss and ask for His review of my performance and see how I can do it better. Listen for new job assignments and take on any challenge knowing that God will guide me through each one as I go.

Prayer My Lord I want to serve You in any way You desire. Continue to trust me with new assignments and teach me your ways. May I do my job in a way that will please You. You deserve the best that I have.

What God Has Prepared for His Loved Ones

Scripture 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Observation: I can’t wait to see what God has been preparing for us. I know I don’t deserve anything, but God is the good Father and wants to give His children something special. I know as a parent on those special occasions that I gave my children gifts it brought me joy to watch them open their presents. At times it was a very special gift that they weren’t expecting which brought even more joy. I’m excited to see what my Father has prepared for me.

Application: The key in this passage is for those who loved Him. I can’t love God without focusing on Him and spending quality time with Him. I’ll never know God enough to understand why He loves me so much, but that should never stop me from trying.

Prayer Thank you Father for all that You have done for me. I thank you that I have a place with You for all eternity, which I don’t deserve. May I be focused on what You desire of me here and fulfill it in glory and honor to your name.
