It Must Be the Lord’s

Scripture Psalms 127:1 A song of Ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.

Observation: Basically, if it’s not the Lord’s will it is futile. If we do things on our own without asking God for guidance what we are doing is useless. We need God’s guidance before doing anything. Whatever we do here that is not of God will shall be burned up and lost forever.

Application: I need to stop doing things without asking God if this is what He desires. I do so many things that are wrong and a waste of my time, time that could have been spent on doing God’s will. I need to stop and pray and make sure what I’m about to do is scripturally based and not of my own desires.

Prayer: My Lord please help me do what pleases you. I’m lost so much of the time, because I don’t ask for direction from you. Take charge of my life and guide me each day and help me not take the wrong road, but be on the path you have chosen for me.

The Lord Has Done Great Things for Me

Scripture Psalms 126:2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

Observation: When I look back and think of all the great things God has done for me it does bring me laughter and joy that He cares so much for me. My testimony is telling others the great things God has done in my life and how He is always with me and had never forsaken me. I may not be able to sing, but I can sing out what wonderful things the Lord has done for me and may all hear and rejoice.

Application: Continue to share my testimony so more people can hear the marvelous works God has done in my life and what He want to do in theirs. Always think back of God’s grace to give me strength for today’s trials and now that my Lord is watching over me. To laugh and be filled with joy what God still has planned for me.

Prayer: My Lord I sing your praises. Open doors for me to tell others all of the glorious things you have done in my life. May I wake in the morning with anticipation of what you might have in store for me on that day.

Trust in the Lord

Scripture Psalms 125:1 A song of Ascents. Those who trust in the LORD Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

Observation: I want to trust like that no matter what happens I can’t be moved. That I would stand firm in my faith not allowing anything in this world to move me away from God. I want to be Mount Zion and abide in the Lord forever.

Application: Over the years I’ve become better, but still so far from where I should be. I need to let go of any control I think I have and give it all over to my Lord and allow Him to take charge. I need to trust Him completely and let go of the reins of this life and follow my Lord whole heartedly.

Prayer: My Lord I do trust you, but I get in my own way. Take charge of your servant and guide me each day. May I put all of my trust in you and that you will guide me through this life and I would be obedient and do all you call me to do.

The Lord is Our Help

Scripture Psalms 124:8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.

Observation: The only help we need is the Lord’s. if we ask for His help and His guidance to know His, will He will give it to us. When we realize the one, we are asking for help is the same one who has created the heaven and the earth we will realize there is nothing He can’t do. For some reason He loves us and wants us to draw closer to Him and wants us to call out to Him. He’ll never leave us or forsake us.

Application: I need to stop trying to do things on my own. I need to humble myself and call out to the Lord and ask what He desires for this life that He has created. I need to be patient also and wait on the Lord for guidance.

Prayer: Dear Lord I need your help to lead a life that will glorify you. Open my heart to all the things you desire for me and may I be patient and wait until I hear your voice leading me.

We Are Filled with Contempt

Scripture Psalms 123:3 Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

Observation: Oh yes, we are sinners. I’m constantly feeling anger for no reason and judging people I don’t even know. It seems given a moment I can change from praising God to insulting others in my mind. I wish for me that praising God was more natural than to have contempt for others. I have to set my mind in order to worship my Lord that has given me everything whereas all I have to do is take my focus off of Him that my mind wanders to negative thoughts.

Application: I need to be more committed to prayer and righteous thinking. To be in God’s word more and to practice loving others. I need to do more outreaches and do God’s work so that I may see His children through His eyes.

Prayer: My Lord help me be the man you call me to be. Increase my faith and love for others take this evil from me and fill my heart with love. You deserve the best I can be to glorify you, help me succeed in this.

Give Thanks to the Lord

Scripture Psalms 122:4 Where the tribes go up, The tribes of the LORD, To the Testimony of Israel, To give thanks to the name of the LORD.

Observation: I recently wrote in my facebook post about always giving thanks in all things. Finding the things God has surrounded us with and realize they are from God and giving Him thanks. There is so much to be thankful for, but we tend to focus on the negative instead of God’s good grace.

Application: I start each day by giving my Lord thanks but has the day goes on my thankfulness grows dim. I need to make a point to look for all the good God has blessed me with and not take it for granted, but to thank my Lord for all these wonderful blessings. God is good and He deserves all of our praise and thanksgiving, may I not ignore all He has given me.

Prayer: My Lord forgive me for my disregard of your greatness and mercy. Thank you Lord for all that You are and that You love me. Thank you for your mercy I receive each day and may I be grateful throughout each day giving you praise.

My Lord Preserves Me

Scripture Psalms 121:8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Observation: If I follow my God, He will preserve me, but I need to be near to Him. I don’t need to be wondering out of His will but to stay close to Him. I know God looks over me otherwise I wouldn’t be here now, He has preserved me for this time in this place and I need to know what His direction is for my life.

Application: I need to stay in His word and to take to heart all He desires of me. I must be obedient and be in my Lord’s will. I know He will protect me now and forever. I can’t wait to get home and be with Him for all eternity.

Prayer: My Lord draw me close to You. Open my eyes in all you desire of this life you have created. Preserve and guide me always and that a day doesn’t go by that I don’t please You.
