Scripture: Mathew 23:12 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted

Observation: I try to be humble, but I look back at the different situations and see how my pride comes through. When different things happen at church especially food related, I feel I’m the only one who could do them right or lately small groups when I get called to help I feel God made me so I’m the only one who can do these things.

Application: Realize God has called me to serve Him and others in His name. I have no abilities except for what God has given me and can only accomplish what God allows me to accomplish

Prayer: Dear Lord humble your servant. May I see others greater than myself, may I not judge or criticize others, but humbly assist where you call me. I love you Lord and owe everything to you. May I always serve you and please you.

Scripture: Matthew 18: [4] Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Observation: That is a problem I’ve had for most of my life, humbling myself. I was to busy trying to raise myself up at the expense of others to make myself feel better. One of my best moments after I was saved was with a customer when I asked if I could get her anything, as I left she told my associate what a humble man I was.

Application: To remember who I am, a creation of God created for him not me. Realize we are all created by the same God and that I am a servant made to serve others in my Lord’s name. To receive my joy from the Lord and not what other people think of me.

Prayer: Dear Lord your servant is here to serve you and others in your name. Show me how to humble myself as a small child that I may please you and be with you in heaven.

Scripture: Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

Observation: Love God with all my heart the deepest love, there should be no one, not even my wife that I love more than my Father. My soul, my being should be based on my love for God and my mind He should always be in my thoughts and my decisions. If I live my life this way it will honor God and I will be able to fulfill my purpose, but why don’t I live this way all the time?

Application: When I wake up and pray, I need to think of who I’m talking to, the God of all creation. I need to show God the love and respect he deserves from me, before saying a word. Then live the rest of the day with God on my heart, soul and mind, doing everything in a way that will please him.

Prayer: Dear God I do love you, forgive me for not showing it in my actions and telling you more throughout the day. Take this life in your hands and use me in a way that will please you.

Scripture: Matthew 17: 20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, `Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. ”

Observation: Faith is something you need to work at. Yesterday at our Bible Study I discovered everything we discussed came down to trusting God, faith and the realization how difficult it is for so many of us. God is so trustworthy yet we can’t seem to let go of our fears and trust him.

Application: Realize God is all powerful and loving and there is nothing he can’t do. Look back in the past and see how God has worked in my life and know if I have faith in him he will continue to work, because he loves me. Let go and let God direct me through this life.

Prayer: Dear Father increase my faith and open my eyes to the things you want me to do. Open my eyes to your wonders and love and let me set my life in your hands.

Scripture: Matthew 21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Observation: If I do my part, believe, God will do his part, answer my prayers. Why do I have such a difficult time believing when my God has been so faithful? I pray but doubt or just repeat words without emotion or concern. God has given me every reason to believe, he has done his part and much more. It’s time to do mine.

Application: To pray more earnestly, expecting God to answer in his will. Knowing that God wants the best for me and loves me. Live my life each day in faith walking closer with him. To believe!

Prayer: Dear Lord thank you for being such a loving Father. You have truly blessed me and are worthy of all my love, praise and obedience. Increase my faith that I will believe. Take the distractions away from me so I may be focused on you.

Scripture: Matthew 20:26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant

Observation: God calls me to be a servant like he was. I get confused at times what to do. Tonight is the Evening of Elegance for the ladies and I don’t plan to be there to help. I say to myself I wasn’t called to be there, but it’s an opportunity to serve. Lately there seems to be only a few opportunities to serve or I’m avoiding them.

Application: Seek God to guide me where to serve. I should never let pride or laziness stop me from serving. I must be ready to serve whenever the opportunity comes up.

Prayer: Dear Lord you deserve my total obedience. Order me to do what it is you desire me to do. As I serve others may it serve you. My reward is to please you.

Scripture: Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Observation: I worry each day about so many things. As I write this I’m worried about my health to the point I making myself sicker. God has a plan and nothing is impossible for him. Whatever he desires will happen, yet I worry and focus on my problems, disregarding that my God is all powerful.

Application: Give my life totally to God and trust him with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. Know no matter what happens God can make anything possible and if what I want doesn’t happen that God chose for it not to. I am a servant of God and not visa versa and I need to trust and relax that He has everything under control.

Prayer: Dear Lord I submit to your authority and that you are in complete control and that I will live a life in a way that will honor you. Increase my faith and guide me today to be pleasing to you.
