Esteeming Others

Scripture Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Observation: Can you imagine a world that everyone would esteem others above their own needs. No more crimes, murder, child abuse, divorce, all the commandments would be kept. The world is the opposite of this however with everyone trying to get as much as they can without consideration of others and it’s only getting worse as our leaders fuel the fire. It won’t be until we arrive in Heaven that we’ll be able to see others as God sees them.

Application: God has given me the opportunity to do this each day. It’s not easy for me since I seek recognition and praise for myself. I need to be humble as I walk and see others. I need not to judge others but see them to be better than myself and be available to help in any way that God calls me. To do this I need the Holy Spirit to take over, because I know this is something I can’t do on my own.

Prayer Dear Lord humble your servant before you. Put on my heart the needs of others and use me as you desire to introduce those who do not know you to your loving ways. Take the focus off of me and place it on the needs of others.

To Live is Christ

Scripture Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Observation: It took a long time in my Christian walk to understand this scripture. I understand now that this life was not given to me to live it for me, but that God would use it for Him. We say that when we die that will be the afterlife, but in reality, this is the pre-life we are living now. God has given us this time to live for Christ and He promises us an eternal home and rewards.

Application: My race is coming to an end and this pre-life will soon be over and I’ll be starting my real life with Christ. For now, I need to grow closer to God and allow the Holy Spirit to use me as He will so that others may see Jesus in my life. I will be spending my life with Christ and I need to spend the time I have here to get to know Him better.

Prayer My Lord, I thank you for this opportunity to live my life walking closer with You. You have taught me this life is a day at a time and as always, I give you this day that You will use me in a way that will glorify You.

Wrestling Against Evil

Scripture Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Observation: Today there is evil all around and you can tell there is a force controlling it. The people we hate because of this evil are not the ones in control, but they are being controlled by Satan. We can’t overcome this evil on our own it will take an act of God to conquer what is happening. I pray each day that God will take His children home and out of this hell on earth, and it will happen according to His will and timing.

Application: My job is to do the will of the Father each day. I need the Holy Spirit to guide me and watch over me. I get to involved in what is happening in this world and lose my focus on my Lord. I need to stay focused on what I’m called to do and trust God that He will do the rest.

Prayer Dear Lord I need peace in my heart. There is so much going on around me that I get trapped in the news. Help me stay focused on You and your desires for me. Use me as a peacemaker in this world to glorify you.

How to Love Your Wife

Scripture Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

Observation: Can you imagine what this world would be like if each man loved his wife the way God has called us to? No More domestic violence, families would be strong and godly, no marital fights and each wife would be loved the way they should be. Obviously looking at the world this is far from being done and instead of loving our wives as we should we use them as a reason our lives aren’t going well and abuse or ignore them. Can you imagine if Jesus loved us the way some of us love our wives, what a disaster that would be.

Application: Realize that my wife is a blessing from God and His daughter. Love her the way that I want Jesus to love me. I need to obey God in being the husband He desires me to be, before I do anything else for His glory.

Prayer My Lord strengthen me to be the husband that would please you. Give me patience and wisdom to treat my wife the way she deserves to be treated. I know I can’t be a godly man if I’m not a godly husband, please help me to honor You.

Putting on The New Man

Scripture Ephesians 4:24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

Observation: I remember the old man I was before my Lord came into my life. He was a terrible guy, a bad husband, father, friend, son and brother. He was so bad I continually tried to get rid of him, the world would be a better place without him I thought. God had something different in mind. He fitted me a with new man. The fit was perfect, after all it was tailored made for me from God. It took a little while to get use to the new one, but each day God took the time to show me how it worked. I don’t miss the old one at all and I’m really enjoying this new one.

Application: I need to realize all the wonderful things I’m experiencing are from God and to stay humble and enjoy my new journey. Realize that God loves me so much and is patient and knew the right time for me to be changed in this new creation. If anyone complements me on my new look I need to give glory to my designer.

Prayer My Lord, I know You loved me even the way I use to be, but loved me too much to allow me to stay that way. Each day is new and I need your help to grow closer to you and become just a little more like your Son.

May Christ Dwell in My Heart

Scripture Ephesians 3:17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

Observation: All good things come by faith. Christ dwells in our hearts and by faith we realize it and have the power to access that love whenever we desire. Most of the time when things aren’t working out for us or we feel God has abandoned us it’s not because of God, but because our faith is weak. If we try to live this life without faith we will miss so many blessings.

Application: I need to have more faith in my life. I have seen so much of what God can do and yet I have too many moments when I forget God’s faithfulness to me. I need to walk by faith each day and every moment of the day so that I may live the life God has chosen for me.

Prayer Thank you Jesus for all you do for me and how you walk with me each day. Please increase my faith that I won’t lose heart, but be that light you call me to be. Holy Spirit be with me as I walk and use me for your glory.

Created for Good Works

Scripture Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Observation: There is no good works we can do in ourselves to be saved. Our salvation comes from the Lord, but yet we are called to do good works that God has called us to do. These good works have a reward attached to them according to Jesus. When I do these good works that God has called me to do I draw closer to God. God can’t love us any more or less, but when we are about our Father’s business we understand more about our Father.

Application: Each morning, I feel called to go out to the beach and make myself available to those who seek prayer. As I walk and talk to others it gives me a better understanding of my Heavenly Father and draws me close to Him. When I do the good works God has called me to do, I know the Holy Spirit is with me.

Prayer Good Morning Dad. Thank you for allowing me these opportunities you have given me to earn rewards that will last forever in eternity. May I always grow closer to You as I walk this life, each step is a step closer to You.
