Learning to Rest

Scripture: Matthew 11: [29] Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Observation: A yoke was designed for 2 animals so Jesus is telling us that He will be joined with us and not that we will be taking on the burden alone. We will be working and learning right beside Jesus. We will have a teacher who loves us and is looking out for our best interest. Once we learn what to do and know we will always be guided by our Lord then and only then will we be able to have complete rest.

Application: The Bible is full of lessons Jesus taught and He showed me how to live this life in a way honoring to my Father. The Holy Spirit is with me always, guiding and directed my path. He helps with the yoke of Jesus each day and if I allow Him he will give me rest knowing that I’m not alone on this journey.

Prayer: My Father make me more like Jesus. Take this selfishness and anger from me and open my eyes on how I can please you. I really need rest, because my mind doesn’t stop in this place, show me how to focus on you and the home I will have for all eternity.
